We did vent covers, safe T plus, propane quick connect before we left Atlanta. Thinking Sumo springs next. Then we will see about the sway bars. My snap pads were ordered before we picked up the rig but they are on back order. We had them on our Class C, love them.
Great video, not sure why you need to level with pads under the wheels if you have leveling jacks. We have a caravan and use ramps under the wheels, maybe this is a motor home thing. Thanks for sharing and stay safe🙂Mark
HitchUpAndTow hi Mark we don’t need to use the pads but we do for several reasons. In most cases the pads allow us to get the coach very close to level and we finish with the jacks. The auto level we have found almost always raises the coach far more than is needed, after we use the pads we manual level whatever is left. It takes us less than 2 minutes. The second reason for the pads is during storage. When we are parked for extended period of time, we park on the pads and covers go on tires. Helps prolong the life of very expensive tires lol. Hope that helps. Izzy
Agree and have done most of those upgrades on our 2015 Baystar 3401. However you have one other upgrade I saw and I’m thinking how’d you get that one. You appear to have 255 vs my 235’s. Was that an option or standard? I’m assuming they’re a little taller? Be curious about any ride difference.
I have trouble seeing the instrument cluster during the day while driving how did you solve it. I have a Newmar Bay Star 3616 and trying to drive looking at the road the looking at the Speedo is very hard and is hard to see. Do you have a solution?
The Hoss Pads are really wonderful and yes, the covers are amazing. So nice to be able to keep them open when it's raining out. :) Enjoy and stay safe! - MJ

All great upgrades, especially the suspension upgrades. My wife and I have traveled over 125K miles RVing all over the country and have not met anyone with a Class B, C, or A (gas) model that has not had to upgrade the suspension to some degree to make travel of any distance safer and more comfortable. I feel the manufacturers can do a better job on the suspensions of the models. They really are not enjoyable or even safe (in my humble opinion) coming out of the factory. I put $5K of suspension upgrades in our Class B to take it from a white knuckle to enjoyable experience. After 125K miles we recently traded it. I considered many models, but after several test drives we went with the Renegade Verona Super C. After 5K miles we could not be more impressed. The quality, comfort, drive characteristics, and power are as advertised and more. I really feel the Super C is an underrated gem of the rv market.
Hi Mark I agree with you on the stock suspension. It’s not good. We also love super C’s and may own one in the future. Thank you for watching and the comment. Izzy
You need to remember that these chassis are truck chassis and not designed in any way for an RV. I have been told by a number manufacturers that Ford for example will not customize anything. That is up to the RV coach manufacturer. These vehicles ride hard because the driver has an 'air-ride' seat so that the jarring and such like is not so fatiguing. These vehicles are more commonly used for delivery in town and comparatively ... comparatively ... not being expected to repeatedly run across country. The RV coach builders do what they can for the price point that a vehicle represents. A super C is a far heavier vehicle with a diesel engine. This is not, IMHO a fair comparision to the situation with a large gas class A. Travel Safe Henri
There is an option that many wish Newmar would offer on a new build like Tiffin does, Liquid Springs. You can have them put on afterwards though. The company is introducing a front end version also this coming year. The advantage is you can raise the height where you might bottom out.
Yes I have seen and read a lot about the Liquid springs setup. Big price tag but a nice option. Hopefully Newmar will get on board. They are offering Truma hot water heaters finally!! Thanks for sharing Roy. Izzy
Hello from Canada! I just do not feel the problems with roll etc that many speak of with my 35' gas class A. For me, it is jarring bumps at bridges and such like that are the worst. Anyhow, regarding the foot pads and levellers. One of the aspects that I like about jacks is that they rigidize the coach from wind and others walking around. Now, its not perfect, but if you level with the pads the suspension is still doing most of the supporting and the coach will move more. However, pads matter for two reasons. How high you need to jack the coach to achieve a level and as you say about increasing the footprint area of the pad to reduce amount of penetration. The rubber pads that you suggest and I have seen otherwise do not add all that much to the area and because they snap on, you cannot clean the pad or get any water out of the area, which might lead to rust. Instead, I use a combination of 1-1/2" x 12" x 12" pieces of wood and same dimension of 3/4 plywood. I put the ply on the bottom and under the pad and use the 12 x 12 as a 1.5" space if required. Used alone, the lumber will warp and then split when you press down (over time). The plywood is almost indestructible and if that happens, a lumber yard is not usually far away. I can also over lap these pieces to create an even large surface if the possibilities of penetration are significant. The versatility of this method coupled with its price makes it very attractive to me,. Travel Safe. Henri
we have the snap pad suppposed to get the safet plus installed but they cancelled so probably will install ourselves the sumo springs are something new to me will have to look into them
Hi awesome video, I really like the suspension upgrade. I’m not too handy when it comes to installing, so I will wait till the fall/winter to take my unit to the dealer; being that it takes 2 months to get a simple job done.
Sure am learning a lot watching your videos. It’s a shame to spend that kind of money on a motorhome and still have to do upgrades to the suspension to get a decent ride. Our Jayco Greyhawk has J Ride Plus but I still had to change the rinky dink standard Ford front sway bar to a heavier Hellwig and it made a big improvement. I bet the Safe-T-Plus would help too.
Great video y'all. I got one coming up to help with propane. My guess is y'all have it, but maybe not. We shall see. I do wish Newmar would have add a fan in the bedroom. That would be so nice. We mounted one on the wall but nothing like a ceiling fan. lol. Thanks for all the great advice here.
Hey William. If you mean a GAS-Stop we have one!! There are many custom RV shops in Elkhart county Indiana, I’m sure one can make that ceiling fan happen!! Thanks for watching and look forward to your video. Izzy
Sincere question(s) . . . wouldn't the rear sumo springs and the super steer rear track bar do the basically the same thing? More or less the same question for the front anti sway bar and the front sumo springs? I'm all for doing beefing up the suspension, but it seems redundant . . .am I missing something?
No they do not do the same thing. They are different components and compliment each other in improving your suspension. Thanks for watching and the comment. Izzy
absolutely love your videos guys!! one question sorry for not being related to this post. We got The Tomato 6 tire pressure monitoring system but we aren't sure about the extenders for the tire valves. Have gotten plenty of negative info about the extenders. What do you recommend? We have a class C Coachmen prism. Thanks so much for any help. We are first time RV owners.
Hi if you are asking what do I recommend for TPMS it would be the TST 507. It’s a bit pricey but best in the market. We save a bit and picked one up at the Tampa RV show for a good price. Hope that helps. Izzy
The hosspads help reduce the amount of leveling needed by the jacks. Even with auto level we don’t use it. We level as close as we can with pads and finish with leveling system manually. The auto level extends the jacks far to much for our liking. The pads also double as pads to put tires on when parked for extended period of time. Hope that helps and thanks for watching. Izzy
Endless RVing I have Hosspads and also several sets of the orange things, but I use them under my jacks and auto-level it. I also have the rear track bar, Sumo springs, Koni FSD shocks, Safe-t-plus, and the F53 Cheap Handling Fix. I fully agree with you about how much that stuff improves handling.
Hi Izzy, I agree with all of your upgrades but have a question for you,,,if you were buying a 2021 35’ Baystar then start to add many of these upgrades, would you instead consider the 2021 35’ Canyon Star FRED for about $46K more???? That is my dilemma - stuck on the fence trying to decide,,,What do you think?
46k is a hell of a lot of upgrades lol. It depends really what your needs are. I’m not sure what the CS will be priced at. If it’s in the 250-260 range I would not purchase. Rather a used Ventana which is much more coach for that money. It really depends on what you feel you need coach wise. Izzy
Endless RVing a 2021 35 foot CS loaded up msrp around $245k - buy price after discount just under $170k by loaded I mean 8k diesel genny with AGS, AQUAGO hot water, dual 15k AC/heat pumps, auto electric hose reel with auto cut off and built in surge, induction cook top, sleep number bed,,, a lot of coach for a base model diesel. Haven’t made up my mind yet
Fred Piccinni at $170 that is going to be a hard deal to pass up. 30k chassis vs 26k. Rear air suspension, more torque, more tow. But then again a few year old Ventana is a whole lot more coach. It’s a tough decision.
I now know why this front engine rear-drive format has failed so miserably in the past. At 275k MSRP I really don't think it will fare too well at Newmar either. This is a modest upgrade in performance at most. Worth 10k maybe but 46 no way.
Hi Jean, you won’t need these with most DP’s as they have much heavier chassis and air suspension. They also have much bigger price tags lol. Thanks for watching and the comment. Izzy
Great information. Did you say you installed the Safe-T-Plus, Sumo Springs front & rear, and the SuperSteer Track Bar yourself? Did you make videos on all of those installations?
Yes Kevin I did all the installation however they were before we had the YT channel so no videos unfortunately. Thanks for watching and the comment. Izzy
If your F53 has a Thor motorhome on it you can't install sumo springs. I have the Safe-t steering Stabilizer and it's not worth it. It's way way overpriced and a $65 steering Stabilizer is just as good. Mine was hell to install. The kit provided had to be modified and I've had to park and go under and adjust the u bolt 7 times to get it aligned so that it doesn't pull the rig off the road or pull it toward the middle of the road. If the steering isn't perfect aligned when installed it will correct any pull BUT the powerful Stabilizer will cause the front tires to wear out very fast. An alternative to those expensive fans is a $28 12v automotive radiator fan in the windows. Easy to install and they blow so fast you need a $1.75 12v variable speed switch to slow it down and for $2 you can install a reversible switch so you have the option to pull or push the air. Normally I like to push the cool fresh air into the bedroom BUT if it's raining I will reverse the air flow and open the awning a foot or two and open a window under it so that rain doesn't come in. All that leveling equipment isn't necessary for anyone who sleeps on their side or stomach because a $10 body pillow works just as well. You are spot on when you talk about having good fans. They can suck out all the hot air in minutes and that helps your ac work much easier to cool your rig. Here is a good $10 tip. If you add a 12v 1 inch valve on the shower water tank you can flip a switch from the drivers seat and release the shower water. You can also attach a garden hose and drain the water into a distant sewage sewage system if you are moochdocking.
Hi Terry, The safe t plus is one of the best stabilizers on the market, made in the USA with lifetime warranty. It does need to be installed correctly, however when done so is outstanding. Well worth the money in our opinion. Regarding window fans we have frameless windows so mounting radiator fans would not be practical in addition to being an eyesore. Our fantastic fans came from the factory as standard equipment and are very efficient in moving air. Leveling a coach is critical for several reasons. If you have slides it allows stress free operation of the slide in addition to door, screens, and other components of the motorhome. Additionally certain motorhome appliances should be as close to level as possible to function properly. We use a clean dump Macerator if we need another option to a gravity dump. Works well even at incline. Thanks for watching and your comment. Izzy
Just wondering, for the price you pay for a Newmar, should these suspension upgrades be installed at time of build? If these products correct problems/concerns with the suspension, seems the manufacturer would correct the issue.
Hi Harley. It’s all about cost. I know Tiffin offers some of these upgrades as options, but they are not standard. You pay the high cost of Newmar for other reasons namely build materials and quality of build. Thanks for watching and the comment. Izzy
@@EndlessRVing I understand what you are saying, but if these issues you talk about concern drivability/safety, I don't understand why they are not designed into the vehicle. Not knocking a brand, just seems any manufacturer would do what they could to correct the issues you address.
Harley Bagger I hear you. These issues are non existent in the Newmar DP models but then you add 200k to your purchase price lol. Essentially all f53 motorhomes will have these issues, although the new 2021 Ford chassis are suppose to be improved. Izzy
@@EndlessRVing Yes, the but the problem does not exist with the diesels, because Spartan and Freightliner will work with the RV coach manufacturer to produce a frame that is better. You see/saw this with the Newmar STAR foundation that added rigidity to the coach. Ford on the other hand, so have been told, by more than one RV manufacturer will not make any adjustments. Why don't the coach makers do it? Cost, additional weight? warranty problems, I am not sure. In the same vein, why don't RV companies come oout with decent solar options save prewiring.
@@EndlessRVing That was going to be my question. We are in the process of buying a 2021 Newmar Bay Star. The salesman mentioned the improved front end suspension. Do you think this would solve the first suspension issue that you mentioned? Are you aware of any improvements for the 2021 models that would improve the other two suspension issues. Love your channel. With us having the same model it makes all of your suggestions pertinent to us.
You reference Ford's F-53 chassis as if they are all the same! They are not all the same. My 1996 Newmar Mountain Aire chassis is not the same as newer versions, which you appear to be reffering to.
The RV manufacturers don’t make the chassis. Ford does for the gassers. So all the items mentioned in the video would be options that would be offered if the manufacturer was to do so. Hope that clears things up. Now if you want to spend 200k more then step up to a Diesel Newmar and these suspension upgrades are not needed. Different chassis with different suspension. Thanks for the comment Izzy

Do your vent covers screw down into your roof ?
Hi Don they actually go mounted to the stock screw location of the roof vent. Very easy installation. Hope that answers your question.

I had to stop the video, just to write this comment. Why are RV manufacturers not installing good steering stabilizers to begin with? .
Thanks for the comment

@@EndlessRVing …. I'd love to drive a Newmar Super Star home
