The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is here. And it is mind blowing, so far beyond what I remotely expected we would be getting with the C8 ZR1.
The ZR1 brings the most powerful production V8 from an American manufacturer ever. A 5.5L Twin Turbo LT7 making 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque. It is still flat-plane crank and revs to 8000 rpm. INSANE.
My original guess was the ZR1 being cross-plane crank TT V8 making somewhere between 850-900 horsepower. My shocked expression was probably hilarious to watch when I was told the action 1000+ hp power figure. This is utterly ridiculous, the Z06 is the most powerful production NA V8 ever at 670 hp, and the ZR1 is an additional 394 hp lol. Think about how McLaren did the 720S then the 765LT. They didn’t do the 720S then the 1000LT. Which is essentially what Chevy has done.
Top speed of over 215 mph, quarter mile estimated in under 10s, and 80-200-80 mph in 24.5 seconds. All ridiculous specs.
The ZR1 is also meant to be capable on track, so there is a ZTK package, enormous rear wing, and front end aero/cooling duct that removes the usability of the front trunk.
No official pricing yet, but I expect this thing to start close to $200k and probably be between $230-250k fully optioned.

It was an honest mistake. It seems he accidentally selected A.M. instead of P.M. on the YT release schedule. He feels terrible, but he's been a strong Z06 supporter and just made an unintentional mistake, cut him some slack GM. How many mistakes did you or your employees all make on the job this month? It made for a great morning for car enthusiasts anyways and was a huge win for GM in my book and this little blunder just made my day.
He is not one of their employees. There are literally thousands of car reviewers out there with way more reach. Do you think they really care cutting ties with one?

WOW! The fact we get all this insane engineering and hypercar performance which will most likely be at a supercar price. This represents the pinnacle of Corvette engineering. EddieX, thank you for much for this deep dive on this engineering masterpiece! 1064 HP on pump gas with no electric motors or batteries to weigh it down while passing emissions and all with a warranty. That is INSANE! Again, WOW!

I wasn't sure if I needed to watch another ZR1 video since I have already seen so many, but I'm glad I did! Getting so much engineering info from Tadge and the engine guy was awesome, and made this my favorite video on the car!

I honestly believe the accidental leaks INCREASED the hype for this car's official release.
We were all expecting the ZR1 to have like 850hp or so. Over 1000hp with no hybrid? I thought the Zora was going to be the 1000hp Corvette. The ZR1 has more power than a Lamborghini Revuelto. I also love that they brought back the split window for the ZR1.

The car makes more horsepower, just look at the airbox cutaway? With a Eventuri air intake it could be significantly higher.

Transmission can’t handle all that torque you need a whole another redesigned transmission which will beef up the price by at least 15%
