I really appreciate that, thank you. When it originally came out as a story by itself, it was spectacularly ignored. So I feel in a small part content to know that someone values it. Bless you for saying so. :)
I recently came across your channel and am so happy I did. Your narrations are the most visual I've heard. I also love the subtle sound effects in the background. You are most talented!!! @@TheBlackDogChronicles
It is a great pleasure to know that you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for writing. I hope you can come back for more! A new story will be released this weekend and an additional story comes out on the Patreon channel, too. :)
Great narration! I just started but it really makes the stories come alive. I would love some time stamps tho as to find any story quickly. Other than that it's great! Especially loving the text on screen as well, much appreciated!
@@TheBlackDogChronicles oh no you’re totally good! Glad I could give you an idealist don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re already doing great work and gaining experience can only happen over time. Thank you for your work!
You are so wonderfully kind to say so. It makes it all worthwhile for me if people enjoy it. It is a story that always terrified me (I was far too young when I read it for the first time!) so I feel happy that I may have done it some justice. :) Thank you.
Thank you so much for those kind words. Yes, I equally fail to understand why my channel is buried away in some obscure corner of RUclips. Perhaps it is only the clever people who find it! ;)
Hop Frog the closing image makes me think of Paradise Lost & the group image w/ the figures in circle ... the figure w/ the robe featuring a sun symbol on the back
I have always adored the work of Gustave Doré, who did some of the most famous illustrations for the Divine Comedy, so I am happy that you think it reminds you of that wonderful work.
I was able to finish listening. Great editing and I really love the voice work of both the passionate narration and spoken characters. So well done and it gives me a nostalgic feeling like VA’s of a Rankin/Bass film. Sucks you right into the story. Your smooth yet deep tone reminds me of Christopher Lee and Jeremy Irons!
Thank you so much for those lovely words. I loved the Rankin and Bass cartoons, so I am honoured that you would draw comparison with them. I am sure too you can guess that I admired Mr Lee very deeply, and have loved the voice work of Mr. Irons ever since I first saw him in the film, 'The Mission'. But perhaps I have the most fun thanks to him, when I am happily singing 'Be Prepared' from The Lion King. ;) My friends say I do a very fair impersonation of Scar.
@@TheBlackDogChronicles The Last Unicorn is still my fav Rankin/Bass movie. TBH Scar had came to my mind as soon as I heard you! I didn’t say anything, because I assumed you were told that so many times! If anyone is looking for a VA for a LK fan project, you definitely would be the perfect choice!
@@TheBlackDogChronicles THX hope it doesn't buffer too much ...we were in the big polar vortex ice storm that came thru on Monday & stretched 1300 miles across the US central areas. Our power stayed on though & that was another gift as so many are w/out power now where the worse ice hit them hard. Our area was on the edge of all this
I appreciate that. It has been pointed out by other below that I used the English pronunciation, rather than the more accurate Spanish pronunciation. As the speaker is supposed to be an Italian, I am not aware of how it would have been pronounced there in the 19th century. If I was ever to reproduce this story, I would probably make an adjustment and settle on the modern Spanish. I am however interested as to how Poe pronounced it; whether he did so the English way or not, being an Anglophile as he was? Bare in mind that the Spanish pronunciation is actually to end with a suffix -tho, rather than -do(e).
That's good for me to know. I am sorry that I made that mistake and ruined it for you. It's a shame, as it is such a great story. I may have to re-do it. I am pretty sure my pronunciation comes from the Alan Parsons song that I have loved since early childhood.
I respect that. The ads were placed to meet with the gaps between stories, but it seems that RUclips sometimes ignores it. The system is always changing as they strive for more and more venue, and care less and less about the viewers.
Thank you for that question. You are right in a sense, that being the works of a great American, perhaps it should be presented by mostly Americans. There are some great Americans who have; Vincent Price, James Earl Jones and Christopher Walken, to name but a few. However, there are some of Poe's stories that are set in Europe, like some that are presented here; Hop-Frog, The Cask of Amontillado and the Pit and the Pendulum, so perhaps British accents don't stand out too badly in those ones. However, if you had your way, what accent would you prefer these to be performed in?

The Masque of the Red Death is the creepiest of Poe's stories. IMHO.
I hope the version in this collection lived up to your expectations.
Pit and the Pendulum is the most terrifying for sure, best sleepy time ASMR ever.
