Day 2 of listening to this band. Can’t remember the last time I was this excited about music. Heard “What, Me Worry?” On the radio yesterday. Addicted. And yes I still listen to the radio lol.
How far this band has come. I saw John at Warp Tour in Bozeman, MT on one of the small side stages when he was with Anatomy of a Ghost...they were so awesome, I still have the CD I bought from that show. When they moved on to Portugal the Man and released Waiter! You Vultures I was blown away. That album is still to this day one of my favorite albums ever. Whenever I come across someone who discovered Portugal the Man recently I always point them to that album...haven't found anyone who doesn't love it.
Play live so well they could set the room on fire, great beats, actual instruments, great vocals AND a well written song. The fact that he's popular gives me hope for our generation.

I feel bad for dismissing the whole album from those two popular songs they released from it that felt too pop for Portugal to me. But this is beautiful! And that bassist with the super deep "that's so young" love it!
This song has always resonated with me. When this album came out, I was 17 y/o, now I am 20 y/o. In those times (when I was 17 y/o) I was so troubled, I was in a post-time of exhausting feeling all over my mind and body, I was tired of dating girls because, my soul was really drained out and things were over with a girl I wished back in the day would have gone differently but I wanted to move out of the country and that part of "I just wanna find a friend, I don't need another lover" always hit me... Now I'm 20 y/o and living in another country. Now I fell in love, I'm thankful for the beautiful lady that I have in my life but I have also arrived to this point where I can't really put myself in a position of being with other people, and I really just want a friend. That's the only thing I haven't found here, friends but friends that you know will have your back no matter what. I love this song and how it attaches to my different living backgrounds... Thank you.
