Guys, i listened this for hours, and now i can say tha ur original songs are beautiful... but this acoustic... this is something incredible. this-is-perfect. YOU are perfect.
I’m 62, and while there are groups I love from all of the decades, I’m not stuck in any one time. Granted, music from the 60s and 70s tend to drag on me a bit, if not taken in small doses; however, I enjoy some of the covers that are released years later. I keep current with music from every generation, minus a few, (no Country, no Rap, but that rule was in effect in the 70s, too.) I would say Portugal, The Man is a group that never disappoints. I also love their very candid comments that they share. I’ll never tire of them at all. I must be fun to watch at stoplights, blasting this group and’s following it with Nina Simone’s Mississippi Goddam. (1965). 😎
@@jstn05 when was their earlier days? I’ve been listening for almost twenty years. They’ve never disappointed. You can apply that to a lot of groups as they grow into what they want to perform. Example: I could say The Police totally sold out. The first time I saw them, during the seventies, they were playing bars. No backstage. They would sit at a table by the “stage” in-between sets. Their last album, Synchronicity, was watered-down crap. They completely lost their Punk / Reggae blend that made them unique. I don’t blame them, though, musicians need to eat, too. When I saw Queen in ‘82, it was not the same band from the early 70s that did Sheer Heart Attack. I can’t blame them, either. Just because bands adapt with the times, it’s not that their selling out. Jello Biafra went from The Dead Kennedy’s to Spoken Word. All of the youngsters that think Nirvana came up with The Man Who Sold the World have little understanding that David Bowie released that song in 1970. I saw Bowie three times. In his older tours, he wouldn’t play hits. His comment was that if you want hits, buy the album. He always had deeply obscure sets. Aerosmith changes every ten years. They’re not selling out. They’re adapting to stay fresh. Who wants to listen to a band that’s been out since the early 70s, yet continues to do album after album of the same old stuff? A bit if trivia, if you’re younger. The Doors never got airplay when Jim Morrison was alive. Their only two songs you would hear in the radio were both covers. Personally, I never really cared for The Doors. Never liked Hendrix, either. The best version of All Along the Watchtower was the original, by Bob Dylan.

Really like it, for over the years I've thought I may've understood why some say " oh-they're sell-outs...way better before..." type of opinions, and then I think it can go too far into a weird, negativistic judgement & disdain concerning growth, and moving forward. When they performed at The Grammys a number of years ago, they had a banner behind them that stated that all music was live and nothing was synced or played from recording. They are definitely an amazing band.
WOW, what a discovery! Up until 30 minutes ago I heard this song over the radio a few times without remembering neither the bands or the songs name. Also I shall mention, without any intention of offending someone, that for some reason by that only song I was under the impression that the lead singer was a woman.
