I have great memories of seeing St Vincent play through her Mastotron a few times throughout the years. One of the best "velcro" fuzzes, it buzzes in all the right ways.
If you have an EQ pedal to use along the fuzzface, they're kinda similar. Otherwise the Mastotron, like a lot of modernized fuzzes, gives a lot more flexibility through its controls. I'm not too familiar with Zvex fuzzes, but it's the same reason I've been using a Fuzzhugger Algal Bloom (a distant cousin of a silicon fuzzface) for more than a decade. I can easily make it work with any amp and any genre, can't say the same for the classic fuzzface.
I think there's probably similar-ish sounds that can be found but the mastodon makes it a lot smoother to dial in ready-to-go velcro and normal sounds, and the subs switch of course makes it easy to get heavy!
This is my favorite fuzz I've ever played. Great to see a demo of it. Subscribed!

Damn, BD-2 into low gain Mastotron sounds glorious. Great demo as always!
Fuzz demo masterclass!
All of these sounds are wicked! The Chainsaw Shoegaze portion is awesomely cutting!
Cool to listen you playing something heavier and even desert rock esque!
Been listening to the band Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs for heavy inspiration!
@@MeganL time for a new genre name: heavy jangle?
This is what happens when you buy an SG! It will be a perm and a wah wah next. Mark my words. Awesome as always.
That intro is FIRE! Great work Megan!
🧡 thank you! Thought I'd try something different 😁
Wow that's insane sounding. Great playing!
Zvex pedals are all so cool. Just like you Megan L. Great demo as always!
awww thank you!!
That’s a sweet pedal! It sounds like someone running with Mammoths.
Thanks for another great demo. Really dug the intro song. The chiptune? and hella compressed lead tones sounded great as well.
damn we gettin heavy around here
For more punnery, based on Woolly Mammoth?
nice
Is it just me or is this *really* really similar to the FF? Whats the catch that justifies buying this over he FF I have?

@@JohnsDough1918 I should have clarified - "FF" means the Zvex Fuzz Factory (which is an INCREDIBLY versatile (of sometimes frustrating) pedal.

Less price + less knobs = more accessible
Does the pedal have a gate?
Yep! Gated fuzz sounds galore
