Losi ProMoto Mx mod testing and flywheel off.

- Just a part 2 to show how setting your steering endpoints inherently makes your steering snappier. This is due to it having to travel less distance side to side from the stock full throw it had. This can potentially make your servo last longer as well. Then towards the end I turn the flywheel off to see if it's drivable. My flywheel seems to have ruined its bearings after this run in with a curb unfortunately.

That flywheel scream, sounds like the beginning of Running with the Devil by Van Halen!
I showed horizon the video of it hitting a curb on my last video because thats when the sound got worst. They responded with "ours at the shop and my personal one got 3 times louder. It's normal enjoy it!" I for a fact know there is a issue with my flywheel bearings. They used low quality bearings and I think due to the fast spinning nature of this part the bearings self-destruct. You can't easily replace the bearings. They are glued to the flywheel or pressed in possibly. That makes it harder to replace without having to buy a new flywheel.
Nice controller
The Losi ProMoto Mx controller is definitely a good looking version of the dx3.
DOH!!
I have two bikes with flywheels on the rear wheel and after a good crash usually some bearings get broken, a lot of force on those little things.
I'm assuming that is what's happening with the promoto as well.
@@RunThatRC totally, I have seen a few videos where the sound change after a crash, bearings gone. I'm going to experiment with different bearings setups, I hope to find a durable configuration
@aguiloco23 yeah I've seen a Facebook post with someone replacing the bearings. They are pressed and glued on.
Did you end up fixing or replacing the flywheel? This happened to mine after the third pack when it crashed just doing a wheelie.
still actually running it the way it is. I do have a spare but its just going to happen to that as well. I'm just gonna send it! 😆
What module are you using? Runs great.
on horizons website they sell the SPMBT2000 bluetooth module for the dx3.
@@RunThatRC Thanks 👍🏻
It did get louder? Wonder if something moved or something idk good run tho
To me sounds like shot bearings in the flywheel. Everything looks fine in there.
So, what settings did sou change exactly?
I set the steering endpoints correctly which makes it steer faster and added the second servo saver spring on top the one that's on there. I also moved the front brake endpoint so it has more throw. just some things you can tune with the Bluetooth module and app.
Adjusting endpoints wouldn’t make it faster.? Maybe turn sharper but not faster
@@RCCRAZYSTUPID think about it. If the endpoints are maxed out the servo has to travel further. When you set the endpoint to shorten that throw, it makes it reach set endpoints faster making the steering inherently quicker. The servo itself isn't faster it just gets to the proper endpoints so it doesn't waste time with the extra travel if that makes sense. So it makes it snappier and switch directions quicker.
I cant find the app
They took it down and supposedly are working on a update. I personally have had it on my phones just transferring it on newer devices. You can search for the app pack online to manually download it but you will need to find a site you trust.
You turned it into a jet turbine
Sucker is loud! But according to horizon support its normal i guess. I personally think they used cheap bearings and that's why they get loud so quick. Not sure the bearings can handle that weight spinning so fast plus the shock forces it sees from landing and crashes. Just too much for them. I want to try and press in new bearings and see if that goes back to quite till the bearings go again. They glue and press fit the bearings on the flywheel so its gonna take some effort to replace.
Just edit the trim, that tech is the heart of the RC, mine is just loud enough for me to hear it. Yours sounded like a damn jet ready for take off lol. Dont see the point of even trying this, it took them several years of development for a reason, my intention is not to rude or troll.
I like trying things for fun. They gave me an on and off switch to mess with lol. It definitely got loud after that curb hit though. I don't plan on running it with the flywheel off for sure.
Doesn't work for android phones that are a year or less old. They pulled the app. Sucks!
unfortunately they did pull the app. Horizon said they are working on updating it. I'm actually using it on my S23 Ultra. I have had the app for a while and kept transferring it to my newer devices. If you can find a trusted site to get the app pak to download you can get it that way. It doesn't work perfectly thats why they pulled it but it worked good enough for me to setup the transmitter.
You probably damaged something inside the bike.
I took it apart and all looks in order but the flywheel bearings must have got shot from that hit. Horizon says its normal so I asked them to watch the video and let me know if it is. Atleast a new flywheel isn't expensive but wish they used better bearings in them. Might try and buy a new one and try to press these bearings out for better ones and see if that does anything. Maybe they will hopefully hook it up with a flywheel because I haven't even owned it for a month yet.
@@RunThatRC Oh wow. I but the blue one. What is the blue tooth module you are talking about?
@@Ezduztube its a module for the dx3 so you can adjust endpoints and have telemetry for battery voltage (even if you don't use spektrum smart lipos), esc temp and amp draw on a smart phone app as well.
@@RunThatRC Does it make it run better like when turning?
Einstein, you still around?
It is too loud know 😩
its definitely louder but in person not as bad as what the camera picks up. Still almost 4 times louder than before the hit.
NOW
The flywheel purpose is to stand it up.. Not to drive it.
its harder to drive it slow without it on. Flywheel definitely stabilizes the bike.
