I love their focus on fulfillment that is not specifically derived from romance. I think one of the core elements of MMM is the fact that we all need fulfillment and that looks different for everyone.
Someone should just add thought bubbles to Alex Borstein's reactions to the interviewer. Her barely concealed incredulity is the only thing worthwhile about this entire clip.
Holy God I know I'm late to this party but I'm a few seconds in and I can't stand this interviewer. I don't know what's wrong with me but I'm seriously disliking all of them lately (the interviewers). They all seem so vapid. I guess my age is starting to catch up to me.
I love how Susie got to experience a couple of things she missed out on during her childhood. She's tough because she has to be but there's a vulnerability below the surface.
Sorry I have to disagree with most comments here. I found this season the best so far. I don't understand why so many people disagree with this. The gags are way better and the story is tighter. I know a lot of people who stopped watching season 2 in the middle of the season, because it started to bore them out.
I just discovered this show in 2022 and it is such a hoot. Binge watched Season 1.... and cant wait to see Season 2. Not only well written n hilarious, but the music and the costumes tie it all together. Great show!
Hannita beauty Sison it’s short! I didn’t love Joel, but I don’t think he was negative or in the way. He was rational for the most part and is going through some growth. What dragged a bit this season were the parents... it threw me off a bit because they seem so away from life. Both treat midge like she doesn’t exist and they Just spend too much of the season with the parents going in circles.
Maverick Rod yes true! The parents are the best part of the show and I love it when they’re all together in one screen time, But I felt like their characters were kind of wasted during this season! I feel underwhelmed this whole season!
Dont know whats up with the bad reviews on amazon for S3. Season one got me hooked, season 2 for me was a bit hard to watch....and season 3 was by far my favorite.
I thoroughly enjoyed the season and how they introduced new characters and expanded upon others. My only issue is the superflous cursing and of course, there are never enough episodes.😊
@@FourSeasons04 the superfluous cursing was actually what i hated about season 2. S03 was more mellow. Funny enough...even Abe kind of acknowledge it on episode 6....at the 37minute mark. Lol
It did suck. Barely about her. The supporting casts storylines overshadowed hers. All the storylines were ridiculous and poorly written. They said the name Shy Baldwin so much I thought the name of the show had changed. I think in order to save some money they had a local high school English class right this season and it shows.
Loved this interview! Love this show! I can’t decide who in the show is funnier the parents (all of them) or Midge and Susie? I laugh and laugh and then there’s the great story too. I can identify with almost every character at one point or another. Please don’t stop doing whatever it is y’all are doing that makes the MMM so great!
Did the interviewer even prepare for this? I don't understand how you can know you'll be sitting in front of Alex and Rachel (who are both brilliant in their own rights and incredibly intelligent) to talk about a show that's exploring such important ideas and not come prepared with better questions. Or at the very least, know how to be an active listener to let them do their thing while answering questions instead of clapping and trying to talk over them. Did that grown woman really need to throw in a "OMG season 3?" instead of letting them answer the question?
What keeps me coming back to this show? The 60's, the clothes, the set designs... I simply adore Midge's (and her mother's) dresses, the perfectly matched hats with purses-- more fun than the "comedy" routines IMO. (Not very funny). Also, the historical background loosely portrayed as the band plays on. "Lenny Bruce is not afraid!!" (R.E.M.) No. I guess not. But, also guessing and recognizing other real life characters being portrayed in the show. I love the music... Other: I was confused how a college prof. could drone on with a bunch of . . . what would you call them? Anarchists. Beats? Whatever... funny, but weird. "This is dedicated to the one I love." ---still in my head as we [SORTA SPOILER] watch L.B. make a sly remark about something... and it being a tongue-in-cheek reality.
The chemistry of every single character is what makes this show work/amazing. The costumes/dress, the sets, atmosphere.. Love everything about this show. I have my husband hooked on it too. Kind of sorry about that though. That I got him involved, because now I have to wait to see it with him and cannot binge watch like I like to do on my own. The compromises we make for love. lol On the "Bad Mom" talk going on (insert HUGE arse eye roll from me personally, here) if Midge was a Man this would not even be a topic of convo and any Woman questioning this (right now in today's time/day) is just insecure about themselves and pushing their desires onto another Woman (if you want to stay home with your kiddos go do it and don't make another Woman with goals and desires outside of being a Mom feel bad about wanting something different out of life.) Guess what? Some of us don't need 24 hours in a day to be a good Mom. We are so efficient with our time that we can do it all! Wife/Mom and Career- go figure? I never ever hear anyone question Joanna Gaines about mixing Wife/career/children (do you think she stays her arse at home everyday/minute with those kiddos' um, NO. there is a Nanny or two/family involved in the mix). I read a stupid article today from some Stay at homer who happens to write, who disses Midge's character and it got under my skin so forgive me for the aforementioned rant. Oh and the Romance question? What the heck is that about? I wonder if the interviewer would have asked this question to a man? Anywho... I love this show and want all the actors, producers, directors, writers, designers, make-up artists etc... to know how much we appreciate them and love them and please keep doing what you do. Really...Loveeee this show. One of the best on right now. Just ignore the haters they are silly and do not matter.
I hate that stupid question: can women have a career and romance. Funny, I don’t ever hear men being asked that question. It is a disservice kind of question. So many things the journalist could have asked them and THATS the question. Smh
Not a "journalist." An "interviewer." She's a novice interviewer, but, unfortunately, the questions of the 1950s continue today - unresolved. I'm rather old, and I'm hearing socio-cultural issues that have not changed. Let me tell you, it is surreal.
LOL. It's like are back in the sixties and she is being told to get married and have babies. I am starting to wonder if people are totally missing the feminist message.
Im with team lenny bruce 😊 Maimi Hotel “So are we really going to have sex?” hangs above them. Midge decides the answer is no and gets a cab. As she leaves, Lenny calls out and asks, “Maybe someday? Before I’m dead?” The suggestion is that the rest of the statement is, “Maybe we can finally do this? “It’s a date!” Midge calls as she walks away.
Spoiler: Season 3 felt rushed and was way too short. Attack if you must but I’ve watched since the beginning and season 3 just doesn’t hold water to season 1 and 2.
I totally agree. I'm a huge fan of the show but I was lowkey disappointed. I thought it was great, but almost kind of boring compared to season one and two. That ending tho....
This interviewer....cringe worthy, absurd questions. Who is your favourite co-star, Haley Berry or Rachel? Seriously? That's something a grade 5 girl would ask...who do you like better? Bizarre. Then asking when Susie's character will have a relationship...uhhh. I loved that Alex put her in her place on that one. I felt sorry for them both during the entire interview.
I have never seen the show, nor any other current television, but I heard a public radio interview with Amy Sherman-Palladino tonight and a clip was played. In the dialogue a word was bleeped out. I'm assuming, giving the sentence structure, that the word was "f". I grew up in a household where all manner of vulgarities and swearing occurred, and in two languages. Not once - and this was through the 50s into the 60s, was "f" used.In the film 'A Christmas Story', saying "f" is a central plot-driver, and, as with this MMM dialogue, I don't buy it that the word was used, and consider some kind of audience pandering that it is used. As I said, I wasn't raised in a language purity laboratory. I would like to know if readers would report hearing "f" in the 1950s. Otherwise, I'm going with audience pandering, and without cause, because, at least in 'A Christmas Story,' it was utterly unnecessary for plot continuance. The kid could have uttered a plethora of other words.
At 4:37 the interviewer asks, "Can a woman have a great career and a great romance at the same time?" and in regards to the world of show business and that question, La La Land already explores this same question and I think that this question really has no great answer.
that's the point of the character, she is goofy despite her many assets; and this goofiness is what makes the story interesting. She can't be perfect and reasonable all the time.
The show is a nice concept - but the real issue is the fake rewrite of American social history that makes it unbelievable and not as funny as it could be. Tell the truth, America was not so politically correct and "diverse" no matter how much you want viewership, stop faking the truth.

Rachel is an amazing actress. It's mind boggling to me how she pulls off this 50s/60s mannerism so perfectly.
I was thinking the same thing. Her mannerism, facial expressions and even speech patterns are so perfectly 50/60’s!
My only disappointment is that there are only 8 episodes. Love this show.
The ending gave me nightmares. I cried with them. I cried when susie cried back at her apartment. Susie makes me cry now
The people want more episodes, Amazon!
Me too. Susie makes me laugh so hard I nearly pee in my pants.
I think it was Reggie's idea to throw them off of the tour, not Shy's.
@@karamoss4130 (in my Joel voice) That's a very good theory Ms. Moskowitz. Me too that sounds exactly like smth he'd do!

Agreed. Joel and the Chinese student (sorry, forgot her name) pair very well. Hopefully, he and Midge will end as good friends.
