  • Stars and creatives from Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amy Sherman-Palladino, Daniel Palladino, Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Borstein, Tony Shalhoub, Michael Zegen, Caroline Aaron) gather with moderator Stacey Wilson Hunt to celebrate their show. Topics include: Sherman-Palladino's greatest point of pride in having created the series; the title character's qualities that have now become part of Brosnahan's personality; the biggest shock experienced by the actors when dealing with the show's '50s-based setting; how Brosnahan and Aaron dealt with their consistently uncomfortable outfits; Zegen's reaction to fans' initial hatred for his character; the surprising inspiration for Aaron's "annoying but lovable" character; why the very first rehearsal period proved to be a terrifying time for Brosnahan; if a blooper reel will ever be released; and Borstein's expectations for how she will ultimately deal with the show's conclusion.

When I finished it I immediately went back to the beginning, season 1 episode 1, and started watching it all over again. Not a lot of tv can do that to me these days but this show was truly something special.

I had the great privilege of working BG on this show several times over the years and I can attest to how truly magical it was.
There was just no other show quite like it
    Every element -
from the absolutely brilliant writing and directing from Amy and Daniel
to the characters, the costumes the cast and crew.
    Just absolute magic.
The production design was also just unparalleled.
Every single scene was jam packed with incredible intricate detail to the period -
Napkins - matchbook covers - signs- post cards - business cards
Things that will never be seen by anyone but the cast and us BG actors but which completely immerse you into that world.
Just state of the art television in every way.
And watching Rachel work over these last few years was just incredible.
Besides her amazing skill as an actor -
    As the host said -
one of the greatest performances in television history-
Her kindness and warmth to everyone - from the crew, to us BG actors - to the fans who watched us -
just never changed through the years.
Despite all the fame and awards -
she remained as kind as ever
    right up to the end.
Amy Palladino created one of the best comedies in Television history these last few years
a show that will be remembered for many many years to come!!

      Thank you.
I wanted to express this somewhere: (I'm a 64 yr old Irish man but 34 years in London)
I've caught most all of the great TV shows on free to air television over 5 decades.
It was lucky for me that I caught a month's freebee to catch this first season (late) on Prime. It shouldn't have appealed to me.
I liked Jewish comedians in the past but things change you.
This was on the face of it a girlie show. I like female lead characters, but in crime or Nordic noir series.
I've now seen all 5 seasons.
The production on Maisel was enormous / huge / astronomical. The budget must have been off the scale. The streets, the cars, the TV studios etc etc all real.
The greatest shows work because so many things and come together in an unplanned way.
Tony Shalhoub and Kevin Pollack suddenly reached the perfect age, for example.
You must feel proud and lucky to find yourself in this. Thank you for your description of Rachel Brosnahan as a person. I think I've heard that before, and it comes across.
This is the greatest show of all time. Period.
I also found myself admiring and critiquing Midge's and all the ladies attire. Fantastic colours. I'm a straight Catholic boy. What's happened to me?
It must be the period depicted as well as the great lady behind them.
Visually stunning, but a show so great it will never happen again.
I hope most people get to see it. I'm afraid some will skip it not knowing what they are missing.
Well done to all involved! 🍻 🍷 👍

The running gag of which character was the "in" for us viewers raises for me one of the greatest aspects of the whole show: different characters around midge are the in for different viewers.
Personally I always find myself almost looking at that world through Lenny's eyes, my partner hooked onto Rose & sees the world of the show through that pov. Beautiful truly.

I love this show. I’m watching it now for a second time and noticing more nuances. One thing that was not mentioned was that Joel always loved Midge unconditionally and that the reason he did not get back with her was so she can become the talented comic she was. He always helped her and supported her and always considered her his wife. The love they shared even when not together was always evident.

    • @josepha133
      @josepha133 Год назад +2

I cannot another show that paid this much attention to the details. That to me really is the brilliance of the show.

My attempt to settle the "who gets to be the 'in' for the show" Id like to present the theory that its a different character from season to season if we treat an 'in' as a key motivator to watch the season/the plot you were more invested in. For ex, Abe was my in for season 2 as he started to question his purpose and learn to listen and his almost caricature-like representation of a brilliant but curmudgeonly professor acting perhaps foolishly for himself without considering the effect on his family and taking [at first glance] uncharacteristic risks. Post season 1, his was the first supporting character whose arc i became invested in. Season 3 for me would be Joel because you finally see him changing and moving away from his choices that were the catalyst for the events of the pilot. This is the first time I started actually rooting for his success, and I was surprisingly invested in his romance with Mei! Finally season 4 while Shirley was never quite an 'in' character for me, I loved her in season 4 for her hilarious overbearing moments with her grandchildren and sheer excitement for setting Joel up with a nice girl. Hers is a character that while at times annoying, always means well.

  • @TheRealThomasPaine1776
    @TheRealThomasPaine1776 Год назад +1

So it sounds like Midge is pretty much who Amy sees herself being on the inside!
Imagine being able to create a show like this and bring to life your inner fantasy self and craft that persona into a heroine like Midge!
But perhaps that happens more than we realize, perhaps in lot of TV, movies and theater.

    Where was Kevin Pollak!?
Really great show, enjoyed every minute, I’m sad it’s over but it was perfect ending in a not so obvious way, spooned fed way. Some will say there was a lot of loose ends, but I say that leaves you the audience, to use your own imagination to fill in the blanks, but the broad strokes were there.
If anything I would like to see a spin-off with Susie and her associates, purely because I enjoyed watching her and ladies hustle.
Oh and I have started to rewatch the series

Lovely show, lovely cast, lovely audience.
Interview was a complete dud tbh. Generic questions, generic answers. Almost nothing that was said hasn't been said by dozens of casts of any given show at these panels before - the show was magic, the writers make the actors better, Midge is brave, Susie and Midge love each other, the 50s put a lot of constraints on people... So broad, so much stating of the obvious. At least the parts about the music supervision were interesting.
