I want to ask you, i'm 24 and as a girl who has never been in a relationship and no one has ever talked to me, and I am very shy in front of men, how can I get to know someone?
Sister in Islam Salmah, I am 34 M. I have been very shy around my classmates myself - especially with those I found attractive. I ended up being without relationship and a marriage during my college years and afterwards. I am actively trying to get married now.
I suppose, as a man, I could ask someone if they live with their parents to gauge their situation. And then ask if I can have their dad's or brother's phone number as I always like to know and meet brothers in the area (this is true, I travel a lot for work, always exchanging numbers at the masjid with brothers). She will probably get the hint but hopefully hayaa will have been maintained. I did ask one family on a flight where they are from. Spoke to the dad and then asked for the girl's brother number who lived in my city. When I called, I was informed that his sister is engaged.
I suppose you could ask a brother if he has family in the area and would like to know them so you could go the masjid with the sisters. Most brothers will be clueless for the first few years after the interaction as long as you do not keep smiling or act cute. Keep it curt, for the sake of Allah.
Anyway, would you and your parents be interested in exchanging information with me?

I disagree with your response on being "too picky" unfortunately globally we deal with a lot of shadism and I have met many individuals in my life who only want" lighter skin" and they themselves could be darker skin. This is added on by culture and warped idea of beauty based on hollywood/ European standards adopted by other cultures
