Wonderful power, speed and form. I made it to 2nd degree brown as an older teenager before I had to go to college. I'm late 40's now and the call to Isshin-Ryu has come roaring back to me. Its amazing how much I remember all of this from practicing it so much back then. My sensei was John E. Hughes of NJ who attained 10th Degree Black belt by the Grandmaster of Isshinryu, Kichiro Shimabuku before John recently passed. I live in Maine now and wish they had Isshin-Ryu here. :( Your videos have been great to remind me of the critical nuances of these basic techniques. Arigato gozaimasu, Sensei!

For people who don't know what the crescent stepping is about, it sets up Judo throws and standing Japanese Jiu Jitsu maneuvers. I can tell this gentleman was taught by some of the same instructors I had at some point, most likely has met Grand Master Advincula a time or two, right?
We proved in the 1990's that properly trained Isshinryu students beat any other style in stand-up, and we're just as good on the ground as Gracie Jiu Jitsu students.

Thank you for sharing this info, very much appreciated! Im really excited to start this new journey!
I love the more traditional rooted way of both teaching and practising; I like the sport-oriented way most modern karate schools have, but it really TRANSPORTS ME to another past age of Karate every single class, like I'm actually standing in Okinawa. I always end barely being able to raise my arms and all sweaty, but the feeling of giving my absolute all is fullfiling and most of all, rewarding! Totally worth the pain, I learnt to embrace it and welcome it.
      OSS!

I have a black belt test coming up and need some good definition for kata can somebody please provide a free source where I can get definition for Sasin saucing nahach Wuansu chinto kusanku and suinsu

Unfortunately, Kata is not my forte. I kept failing the Black Belt test because i kept forgetting the last few moves in Sunsu Kata back in the day. I was beating second degree black belts in full contact sparring, one of whom was a heavyweight and an ex-marine. I was about 185 at the time.
"Perform kata exactly, but fighting is another matter." - Choki Motobu.
Does your Isshinryu dojo still do full contact sparring? A lot of them have devolved into points sparring, unfortunately. I feel contact sparring is necessary for proper street self defense development.

Was told in 80s it was military karaty

It was until the Marines temporarily switched to Krav Maga. In reality, there is nothing in Krav Maga which isn't already in Isshinryu. The contemporary marine combat system is still heavily based on Isshinryu, and they BEAT the UFC fighters every time they give a seminar to them.

Must be doing these in the mirror because left and right is backwards of what you're saying

These exercises are being done with horrible form. The half-moon/crescent sweep step is correct, but everything else is not. Where's your cover prior to the blocks? And you always generate power from the hip into your punches. From a 2nd Dan Isshinryu BB

What are you talking about? His form is fine. What do you mean "cover" prior to the blocks? He's just doing the basics. And he is punching from the hips, you can literally see him move his hips. You're an arrogant clown and you most definitely don't have a second Dan and if you do, you shouldn't even have a black belt if you're on here judging this guy who is doing a good job. You're an embarrassment.

Also, I think it's pretty obvious that he's TEACHING THE BASICS and going SLOWLY

I think you're nit-picking guy. My only criticism is his elbows are too wide when he is loaded at the hip. (Remember, we teach punches from the hip because of where hands are in real defense situations.) Anyway, I eat second Dans for lunch in full contact sparring, and I think he's doing well enough to wreck any normal street fighter, which is the point of Isshinryu.

Why is he circle stepping? Should be toe to heel.

Kinda depends on the school, reminds me of TaeKwon-Do.
I really like that circular stepping, I love the flow of it
