Hey Nate. Thanks for the comment. It is not a great video until I have heard from you I wonder where the Agri dome is. Have not heard from him in a while?? I hope he is still watching.
At dairys, some newborn calves are sold the first 2-5 days. They started out pretty hungry, we fed 1 out, acted as if starving but he's doing great & gaining now. We feed 3# of mixed grain w Timothy & alfalfa (4flakes) gaining well. Happy with the cross & will buy another next time
Timed that right. Prices are stronger now then when this guy bought them. We raise our crosses to 600 pounds and sell them. Been a good go this past year.
The whole beef system is skinny. Especially with high corn prices. I left my feedlot empty this year as hard to pencil with expensive corn. And there is a lot of work to a feedlot. Hard when you do all the work and barely break even or worse
@@soybeanman9439 had an apprenticeship as a farmer before I studied law. Worst decision of my life (law). Am practicing ag law now, been almost 30 years. Still crying my eyes out for a cattle farm. Won’t happen. Maybe next life.
Great to see someone on the channel from so far away. If you are ever in Southern Ontario Canada. Look me up. We can see lots of cattle. I love cattle as well
@@soybeanman9439 I always watch the work of fellow cattlemen and women around the globe. Unfortunately the global south is underrepresented due to internet access and all, I suppose. Well, the US and Canada are on my wishlist, so if I don’t cra* out before, prepared for an unpleasant surprise.
I’ve always loved the small beef cattle farms. Just something about them. Thanks for the video and have a good one!

What breed are you guys owning?
We do jeresey/limousine cross. Was feeding them to finish and selling as freezer beef, but ran out of room. Now just sell them at 3 days old.
Where are you located
@@soybeanman9439 down in Tennessee
Nice. We are in South West Ontario Canada
Really glad you watched the video

well done maestro!!
Thanks for the comments
What's it cost to get them North of the Border?
You can type anything on RUclips and there will be a video.
How many calves do you feel right now
Nice group there 👍🏻
They look alright. There are fewer " backgrounders" because we have not made enough money doing it for decades.

@@soybeanman9439 agree completely, at least your calves have hybrid vigor being crosses
@@soybeanman9439 I heard that you left your feedlot empty this year. Heard it was a winter hobby thing but just too expensive.
Excellent video, especially for guys like me who aren't used to cattle
what is screenings in the feed ?
Screenings is fines out of the corn when they clean the corn
Soybean man, wallah😂😂😂. Almost takes some guts these days, alas, glad you hav‘em. Although I’m more of a grass fed guy. Cattlemen of the world, unite!
This market separates men from the boys
Thanks for watching. Where are you from???
@@soybeanman9439 Germany. Land of vegan ****s nobody wants, but they’re trying too dominate food and ag politics, and they’re quite successful.

Interesting cross breeding. Seems to make for good beef.
Just bit better than a straight holstein steer
Best part is using sexed semen you can predict the out come
