I started about 5 years ago with beef cattle. Owning a horse ranch I had some extra space and figured I’d give it a shot. I bought 2 Angus bottle calves and that was short lived, so after that I took time to study more. I had a friend with a registered organic Holstein dairy farm and he had one of his cows bred to a registered Angus bull, that produced an all black bull calf. Just about 3 months prior to this I had traded a horse for 2 purebred Hereford heifers. So me and my buddy worked out a deal on a goal for the calf and some hay. I brought the little bull home which ended up being his name although he wasn’t little for long lol. He has been doing his job producing really nice calves and he is the most gentle bull I’ve met. He has got out plenty of times to go introduce himself to the ladies down the road but other then that he’s been great.

I would suggest saving some of your bean and pea seeds when you harvest them at the end of the summer, this way you will have the ones you want and save some money each time. I try to save a few beans and peas once I pick the pods each summer, they just needs to be put someplace to dry out then you can remove the seeds from the pods and put them away for next year. The same with pumpkin and squash seeds, put aside a few seeds from your favourites each year.

Lettuce grows better with the red or purple spectrum, it's a cool weather plant.
