If you go even further North in Norway, it never gets dark in the summer...lol. I did my military service up there... in winter, it was pitch black.. for 23 hours of the day. An hour of dusk, then straight back to pitch black. Summer was the complete opposite. 23 hours of light, one hour of dusk. Seriously screws with your internal clock :)
Interesting - was driving the car for one day through Hamburg and had the same impression: Heating at least at 25 C; very smooth ride(live it), autosteer basically useless, comfortable and very silent, 800v - charged at 90% at 47 kw. Large turning circle. Somewhat strange UI. Overall very much liked the ride - finally a car family that does not pretend to be a sports car. Still prefer our Enyaq though.
Crazy how the (percentage) disadvantage in efficiency to the various Model Ys Bjørn has tested is even higher in the 90kph tests than in the 120s. So it's not primarily/exclusively an aerodynamics issue.
Was in norway the last 2 weeks on holiday, what amazed me was rhe Baustellen 🚧,you aktually have flag guys directing traffic, and they're so nice and friendly, when they close the road, they will come to your car and tell you how long before the next the phase is..and i noticed this at all the construction zones
Note I have not driven the BYD Seal U yet but i suspect that this strong sensation of deceleration and acceleration that you mention may be due to the fact that you are using HIGH setting for regeneration, I have a BYD Tan(K)g and I have experienced some of the same. Just put regen to normal and its a much better experience, probably the same for the Seal U. Not sure high regen does much for range anyhow..any energy recuperated is lost accelerating back up to speed. I only use high regen if im going downhill for a long time.
Hey Bjorn, I'm following you for a couple of month now ... I like your video and your amazing accent, love it ! Can you in a future video explain your phone and OBD dongle setup ? I never managed to to the same with my car and phone. Would be awesome if you can do a quick tutorial on a random car ... Thanks. Take care;
Interesting video and interesting car, does it even get truly dark at your location? My young daughter would never want to sleep, when I send her to bed she always says: "Daddy but it's not dark yet..." That's around 9pm during Summer in UK, if we lived in Norway I think she would be waiting for a very long time. Also she has more energy than all those Duracell and Energizer bunnies put together, and probably more energy than this Byd SUV as well... Edit: £30,000 for an electric car of this quality? WOW that is impressive... undercutting Tesla by wide margin...
My Kia Niro has the same issues when travelling down hill with cruise control. You can feel the vehicle pulsating, on the brake, off the brake, on the brake, off the brake. My wife says it makes her feel ill...
personally, I don't find it worth considering it is inefficient, slow charging, and in EU, it is 6k€ more expensive. That is, in the same price range of MY and ID4. OK, maybe better than Arya pricewise, which had already priced itself out of market
I agree, I then even checked price in UK market, and then it's already model 3 territory! It's not the original £30k I stated as I converted from video, there is an increase in price in the UK so it's almost £40k... It then becomes harder to justify to the other half... Edit: To be honest I much prefer the original Byd Seal saloon/sedan, I would get that over the Tesla actually, not convinced with this SUV version...
Hey Bjorn! That’s a great video as always! Only a thing with the Seal U. When I drove here in Spain it didn’t drive like chinese with those accelerations and breakings. Maybe is it a software bug due to Norway roads? 😅 Could you please put child seats in the back seats?🙏🏻🙏🏻
The comfort trim PHEV with up to 78 miles electric range still not available in UK. Was hoping it would have been a hatchback / Saloon instead of another SUV.
Have you tested the Seres cars yet Bjørn? I drove the Seres 5 today. Also interested in testing the new 2024 Seres 3. LFP batteries both cars and shorter range on the 3, but you get physical buttons and airvents👌🏻
To be honest, with these qualities I do not really think it is so good price. What this heavy, huge battery brings, if the range is only 320 km for 120 km/h in summer? 15C is not cold. It starts with 42000€ in Germany, which is not so cheap for this range. Even WLTP is 420km only. I do not understand how do they manage to get so low range and so slow charging from their own blade batteries, which do great job in other cars. All in all, if these are scary Chinese cars, which should destroy everybody, we are safe for a while 😅

The jerky Auto steer means the car uses a lot more energy 270w per KM seem high to me.
Interesting, in HEV plenty of people came close to 1000 km without refueling.
Incorrect. Hydrogen cars have only around 300 km range on motorways.
Will become around 17% more expensive in Europe because of EU tarrifs
Norway 🇳🇴 announced that it will not be putting the tariffs on Chinese cars.
Only if they decide to put the tariffs to customers. Seams like, they have done it only partly.
It is not cheap but the consumption is high!
Bjørn where is Nasir? What happened
High consumption
I assume auto steer got confused by colour of tarmac. Two lanes had different surface (or at least it looked like that) so car might thought it's wet.
It happened many other places as well.
