- No matter how you slice it, one pizza-themed episode of “Around the World” simply wasn’t enough for Great Big Story senior producer Beryl Shereshewsky. The pizza enthusiast asked for your recommendations on how you top your pizza. And, wow, a lot of you put pineapple on your pizza. Who knew that was a thing, from Malaysia to Sweden to Australia? She tries pizza topped with everything from Thousand Island dressing to gruyère cheese to bacon in this special episode of “Around the World.”

I really love her energy, even if something is not to her taste she doesn’t go expecting it to be gross or disgusting or anything like that, she’s very positive and open to try and I think that’s super important for videos like these. Loved it!
It's almost as if it's part of her job...
Kombinatsiya ya ik lol
havent had the chance to watch any video where the creator is honest about what they REALLY think about the food (or anything theyre reviewing). it's partially to avoid backlash and/or theyre trying to appeal to certain demographic.
youd hardly find travel vloggers with negative content about a country theyre visiting.
Agreed.
It's her job she has to do it like it's what she does for a living
Beryl has figured out how to live the dream. Eat pizza and get paid for it.
🤣🤣
Not anymore
@@ryanxu9983 welp, now she can do it again
There's only one way to eat pizza: ALONE
Srsly...you never want to share it😂😂😂
nah, the part where everyone fights for a slice is the fun part, which makes food more enjoyable. just like some games like minecraft, good when alone, better when shared
Alister Goh wow that is a great analysis
Disagree it’s better to eat with company
IMHO
that’s what i always do......
:(
Beryl seems to be a genuinely nice person.
But... maybe..... maybe she's a SIMP in disguise !

im from Malaysia and i can confirm that pizza youve eating is called Island Supreme and it is served in Pizza Hut all over Malaysia.. it is my favorite !!! yummy !
Ehsan Zolkifly In Thailand it’s called Seafood Cocktail.
Yes I am Malaysia and I certify what he said
And because of this video...I just ordered Pizza Hut on food panda 😀😀
im malaysian but ive never taste this pizza before.
@@maxsmith4412 now you should try it
I’m genuinely confused as to how deep fried pizza isn’t already wildly popular in America. I’ve never even thought about it
Bc fried pizza is more of a fair food like funnel cakes
@@saffronkiwi7008 actually deep fried Pizza is gross. I'm not sure we should give Americans another unhealthy option it gorge on.
It's disgusting
@@krutikaalpe987 if you have a true pizza fritta (naples style fried pizza) you'd love it. It's not done in the gross way they do it here. They fry a special kind of dough and then top it with sauce and mozzarella, melt it in the oven for a few seconds, and it is so delicious. Google pizza fritta and you'll see the difference :)
@@prince_cyprus that looks great tbh. I'm just deeply traumatized by the fried pizza you get in the local chippy here in Scotland
Can we just appreciate all the effort she goes through whilst at home to do these vids. Like she reads the comments and makes 5+ recipes :)
Thank you!! :)
Beryl likes literally EVERYTHING she tries. I'm an optimist and appreciate like-minded folks, but she truly only ever talks about the positive qualities of something
Detail: Brazilians don't eat pizza with our hands. We eat it with a fork and knife. There's usually so much topping that if you tip the pizza, everything falls off.
That’s accurate. And it’s considered uncouth to touch your food with your hands. Another omission: in Brazil, a very popular pizza is the “Portuguese “ pizza: black olives, sliced hard boiled eggs, red onion slices, ham. Drizzle liberally w olive oil. It’s delicious!
In addition, in Brazil, there can be all sorts of topping in a pizza. The are the most tradicional ones, such as Portuguesa and chicken&Catupiry. Also there are those pizzas in Rodízio (all- you-can-eat restaurants ) in which are served diferents pizzas with diferent topping , one can try all of them: from shrimp to chocolate, even popular dishes on a pizza like feijoada or strogonoff. There’s no limit
It's more a paulista thing, not on all around the country. I personally hate seeing people eating pizza with fork... And I hate when the pizza is too soft that you need to eat with the fork haha
well there is a first time to know anything i guess
@@Rafaelrpaese bahia here and we do fork and knife
The crunch of the pizza makes me hungry!!

The one from Dubai was from a white expat lol! Dubai and bacon would never go together.
Yes wondering that
Unless it was veal bacon. But tbh bacon as a concept isn’t that popular here
There is beef bacon, you know. lol
yeah ikr bacon, and also you cant find bacon in Dubai cuz it isnt halal lmao

Sony camera 😉 that's why
Yea Idk why the episode looks so dirty and oily
Yesss!
@@jasiucasic I already told you why
Italians, we're thankful to you for invention of this delicious thing called pizza, but please don't tease other countries for customizing it according to their taste. It's not necessary everyone likes what you like.
I'm Italian and I agree, everyone should experiment and do what they want with food! The only thing I don't quite understand is when people make something that is absolutely far away from Italian cuisine and still call it "authentic Italian". You do you mam but that ain't Italian lmao
(Of course it isn't the case of this video)
I am pretty sure itialians couldnt bother less how other countries have their pizza, lol
you can’t customize perfection
@M E ti sta bene?
I love when Beryl does taste testing. It gives her the crazy eye. Beryl's awesome.
Oh, yes. You're right
Lmfao
Again give this host a raise for effort
All the Italians here just died inside after watching this xD
lol me
It hurts so bad watching pizza being bastardised by different cultures, I could barely watch the video. I could feel my blood pressure and anxiety rising!
@@Zalodar26 I feel you. Only true Neapolitana!
My Italian friend *loves* battered deep fried pizza. The rest he would probably hate, admittedly!
@@Zalodar26 waddya mean bastardized?
The french one is begging for some onion, maybe even caramelized.
Agree. First thought was that it was a pizza version of Tartiflette. Maybe someone creating a fiction mashup. Original savoyarde is a potato gratin minus bacon. They got her to make it though! And no reference to the inspirations; as if it originated as a pizza.
YES !!!!! 👌👌👌👌
and above all, the cheese to use is reblochon, not gruyere !
I'm from germany, the Rhein region and we have something called flammkuchen. It's a water, flower and oil dough with creme fresh and onions and bacon bits on top.
A lot of people compare it to pizza, but it is no pizza 🤣🤷♀️
The crust is super super super thin!😍
We have it too in France in Alsace. It's absolutely wonderful...

Beacon pizza from dubai 🤔
WHAT😳
Could be halal Turkey bacon?
Ibrahim Ahmad maybe
Beef and turkey bacon are very common in the Middle East and Muslim majority countries. I grew up eating these versions!

Kim Jong-un we might get killed before cooking it
Yes sir I will nuke them
I absolutely love these videos. Please do more. I love her energy and how she makes the videos fun and exciting. 🥰
Beryl, your enthusiasm towards different foods is admired. Keep up these great videos.
One pizza episode just wasn't enough for legendary food like pizza. It's pizza time, all the time
"It's pizza time, all the time" I need that on a shirt XD
The use of pineapple on multiple pizzas was surprising. It’s such a controversial topping, but sometimes I wonder if people have tried it before dismissing? Personally, I’m a fan! And now I’m a fan of you Beryl 😁
I really really like Beryl!!!!
I'm sorry but if you are actually mad at people eating food the way they want you need to get your mind out of the gutter.
I think they're joking. no one actually dislikes people for pineapple on pizza lol
@@JacobRy No I'm sure lots of Italians take offense to this. For instance I saw a video of some old men rating how well people made a pasta dish and they started shitting on this one guy since he added garlic. The dense fucks. If old men are ignorant enough to do this I'm sure many others are too.
No, you clearly don't understand. For some people food isn't just about basic survival needs. It shows pride, preserved culture from many centuries passed from children to grandchildren. Of course some people will react aggresively when someone dissed their culture (especially italians, I think) :/
@@dimdimbramantyo7666 No. These people claim to want to "preserve their culture" while shitting on others. They talk about "pride" and "respect" while denouncing any other variation that any culture makes. That isn't respect, it's hypocrisy and ignorance. And most of all, it's *elitist.* Thse people need to humble themselves. Their culture is not superior.
@@cloud-dv1wb thank you for addressing this. Food is globalized and it has so many iterations. They're great in their own right because they are ENJOYED by the people they are catered too. And this is the same with other parts of culture from music to dancing to religion and more. Really thank you for addressing this, we need more open-minded people like you in the comments section :)
It worked. The way she laughed when eating the sweeden pizza is pure joy. You made my day Beryl. Thanks
I also laugh and giggle when I eat something delicious or very new. Thanks again Beryl!
Tried making the banana curry pizza and I gotta say it’s good! 👍🏻 Thanks for the tip Beryl!

I love these. Love love love them. I do miss learning what the, like, ‘popular’ take on these foods are in each country/region rather than individual tastes. there is a variation of banana pizza in Brazil. But it is like dessert. It is banana, cinnamon powder and sugar. It is good. People already ate bananas made in the barbecue grill topped with cinnamon powder and sugar before putting it on pizzas.

Interesting that Beryl had never had BBQ sauce on pizza before. BBQ chicken pizza is a modern classic and I think it's still the most popular on California Pizza Kitchen's menu. Beryl's videos are so entertaining. 👍🍕

Beryl, 1 day!!! Ok, you're a legend... It's official. I was full after the 3rd pizza. You packed it in like a champ.
i absolutely LOVE spinach and feta as a pizza topping. i don't know if this is common anywhere else, but here in austria you can get it almost at every pizzeria. besides of that there seems to be an increase of pizza variations with kebab meat
Never heard of it but it looks amazing
“Greek pizza”. Feta, tomato, herbs. Can have spinach if you want. Many have onion but I don’t prefer onion.
I live in Dubai, and who puts anchovies on pizza! My favorite pizza flavour is Chicken BBQ and Mexicano Chicken...😊😊
My question is how did the person that submitted the recipe even get bacon. Isnt pork banned there. I think they might have meant turkey bacon
@@adelhany4708 No, pork is not banned in UAE( dubai is in uae ) and is readily available in supermarkets.Consuming pork is not illegal for non-Muslims in the UAE.
If it has chicken on it then it's not pizza. On the other hand, a genuine capricciosa will have anchovies.
Are you from Dubai? How much do yoh enjoy living there?
@@preston0 Its good living in Dubai. But the only problem is that the climate is really hot and we barely get rain 😭

So great to see "our" pizza with catupiry here...makes me a little more homesick. Thanks so much for your Inspirations! And especially during this epidemic your videos allow us to "travel" a bit! Thanx!!!😍
"Deep frying anything makes it better" - I couldn't agree more
My favorite, when I visit back in Nova Scotia, is Donair Pizza with Donair meat (like Greek gyro but spicier, gyro+cayenne pepper is close)), with diced onions and tomatoes, mozzarella cheese on top of tomato sauce, toppd with a Donair sauce made with sweetened condensed milk, garlic powder and white vinegar (brushed on after it comes out or served on the side). Same combo on pita (Donair) or Donair Subs. Savory, spicy, sweet, vinegary, balanced with the fresh veggies.
Donairs and donair pizza are truly one of the greatest contributions of our province to the rest of the world.

Pizza with bacon from islamic country (UAE) ? Am I missing something?
Beef bacon and turkey bacon is a thing
She never specified so by default when somebody from the west refers to bacon it is usually derived from the pig. That's why the Dubai one sounded gimmicky.
@@pianoonparade those are really americanish things, are u from the area to confirm these alternatives?
@@rikkosalu no, but I come from Indonesia, also a majority islamic country, and can confirm that they absolutely adore beef bacon here. if a restaurant has "bacon" on the menu - including pizza chains, then it's always beef bacon, unless they specify it's pork. turkey bacon isn't really a thing there, but it is a thing here in Australia. I've never been to the States, so I didn't know it was americanish.

Says the ingredients of the Dubai pizza: Bacon
Bacon is banned in the U.A.E (Dubai)........... fake?
Turkey bacon isn't...
This seems very fake because I lived in various parts of UAE for nearly 8 years and I've never even heard of such a thing
The person was living in dubai most probably was a Filipino or goan or maybe spanish latin american decent because person last name was da costa
Bacon was something she added i dont think it was part of the recipe
Alexandre da Costa well then that isnt Emirati at all. When you say you say that the people here eat this, you are implying that the muslims and the locals eat pork. Not to mention that this is YOUR recipe. Not a cultural thing. You should have mentioned that. And i checked ,and you’re right pork is not banned but this pizza is not at all popular.
True...well noticed. Thanks.

Most pizza is a majority of fruit because people don't know the classifications of fruits.
Weird Mike the only fruit is the sauce tho
On a plan pizza
I have close to zero judgment on pizza toppings, so all of these made me drool lmao.
I agree- you should definitely try the local version of "pizza" wherever you go. I also make a point of trying the local McDonalds wherever you go, but try the "local" menu options- shrimp burger in Tokyo when I was there a couple of years ago, bean burger in London, Baurú in Brazil (toasted cheese with ham and tomato), fried egg and beetroot (picked beet) on the Aussie burger in Melbourne. It's a great, non-threatening introduction to local tastes in street/convenience foods that busy locals eat every day. It's also a great way to get your head around the value of the local currency, since Micky D's aims for the same kind of clientele the world over. Just make sure Micky D's isn't all you eat!
