The Paladin/Errant model was just the original way the Knight was released back in 6th Edition, right? IIRC the other weapons came later. I'd be they just had a ton of those old Knights laying around and wanted to get rid of them.
Oh my Lord, it’s either people shitting on Votann designs or people shitting on Ironhead designs 😂 I think they look cool. Could you specify what you don’t like about them? The design of the lower half?
@@reginlief1 I usually really like the Ironhead designs, I think they've been incredibly solid. Sadly that doesn't extend to the new ones. The sculpts really seem like they lack character. They're stiff and plain and just don't seem to spark much for me, which is a shame because the base Ironheads do this wonderfully despite being smaller sculpts with less real estate for these sorts of details. If you gave this lot robot heads, they'd just be Mechanicus models. Obviously you're still entitled to enjoy them and I can see why people would, but personally I'm a little disappointed at the lack of love I feel like I'm seeing put into these sculpts.
Are they though? Deathwing Knights are a great units for a while now and any serious DA enthusiast will have the Lion already, while he is also not as desireable on the table top in general. I doubt that people would just pivot and want the DA box now, because the Knight one is bad.
@@Gnarlf The DA box is great for anyone getting into the army, having all very usable models unlike other boxes. The Lion is not playable in top-tier armies, but he is a fantastic model and very good in less competitive play. IMO the DA box is the best by far.
I doubt it. Being best out of a fairly lacklustre range doesn't make it "good" beyond a customer with quite specific wishes. It's not much good for a lot of existing DA players - Lion is 1 per army, DWK are 15 per. How many DA players don't have Lion, and also have only 0-1 squad DWK already? It's a good enough "Start Collecting Box" for people new to the faction - as long as you want to go Inner Circle. Beyond that, I can't see it having huge appeal. Certainly not as a replacement for people who wanted Knights!

I hope Drukhari and harlequins don't just get rolled into one codex and we just loose units left right and center. Humans have guard, marines, Castodies, sisters, knights, imperial agents ect. Reducing the number of xenos codex would be a case of what do you want this game to be? Humans overwhelming everything and only have humans? More new Xenos stuff!
I highly, highly doubt Drukhari & Harlequins will be rolled in to one single codex. If anything Harlequins will be rolled in to the Aeldari one like last edition. As they don't have enough units to warrant a whole codex to themselves, but Drukhari will definitely be their own codex.
harlequins are going away for sure. im not saying that because i want it to happen, but it seems inevitable. the lack of units, the forge world models going away, plus the fact that the index already bunched them in with aeldari and drukhari means they're probably not coming back as a solo faction. drukhari are almost certainly safe though. as a dark eldar player myself, i recognize that its an unpopular faction, but they've got a very strong and obvious identity/aesthetic. that, and most of their good units are already in plastic (including mandrakes just getting a recent re-release). there are other factions in the game more deserving to be shrunk into sub-factions or codex supplements. @@Wanten-the-stormtrooper Honestly? With the way GW are really dragging their feet with 40k releases, it's only further strengthening my gut feeling that WE's + 1kSons + DG are NOT getting a codex release this edition... Say even *IF* we get the Krieg launch box pre-order in Dec, we're likely looking at Jan 11th as the earliest release date on GW's 2025 calendar. Then give them 4-5 weeks before they put out the pre-order for the full range general release. I don't think we see the Guard codex + Krieg range go for actual sale until into March 2025. Then we have Eldar launch box + likely 4-5 week window before their actual full release. (I'm betting they "full release" for May 2025) Now, I do think we will see one or two "codex only" releases in between Guard -> Eldar, but I'd more expect the likes of Black Templars, Dark Eldar or Grey Knights. We almost certainly get Chaos Knights alongside or right after Imperial Knights I feel that Emp's Children are likely to be the 'Fall 2025' big launch/release And then we probably get our "end of edition cycle" campaign books with the focus on (probably) Fulgrim's antics + return of Russ as the Loyalists will need another Primarch on their side. Oh, and let's not forget that Votann have been heavily hinted to be getting a big model wave to fully fill out their roster too... But then we look at how June is likely HH 2.0 launch, AoS needs it's releases, AND, we still have High Elves + Wood Elves + Beastmen + Empire releases for The Old World to squeeze in as well! With only what will now be likely just 16 months for 40k releases before 11th edition launches, I really just don't see how GW will get the God Legion codices released at this point, let alone give any of us any actual models to boot!
@@drunkenastarte5243 Even a few weeks ago I would have said that the idea of already existing armies not getting actual codicies was ridiculous, even impossible. Even with GW half-assing World Eaters and Squats, Even with them going back on their word about the firstborn Marines and sending all the Heresy stuff to legends, even then they haven't skipped an army's codex since the Necrons in 4th edition (as far as I'm aware, anyway). But now? Now, after they randomly decided to not release ANYTHING for the rest of 2024 and made that horrible Bloid Angels release, I can totally imagine GW being that stupid and/or scummy as to just not do the rest of the Cult legions. It only makes me even more glad that I never got into 10th edition to begin with and haven't supported GW's practices since they made my contemptor dreadnoughts basically illegal. (And upon re-reading your comment it doesn't surprise me that GW are doubling down on the Squats even after how poorly their initial launch went.)
I'm not swimming in dough. A knight would probably be a one time purchase for me, honestly, and not being able to play around with loadouts has made it a "no, thanks". It sucks, because I was legit excited about the prospect of getting my first Big Box.
Releasing a Knight box set that doesn’t include all of the wargear, in the edition where wargear is free and there’s no reason to not take the best one, is perhaps the funniest way GW could fuck this up.
I am worried about people who watched the announcement/saw the article saying all variants of the knight could be built without seeing this update. Honestly feels like false advertising to me. They need to make a bigger announcement than just adding an asterisk in the article.
It’s all in line with the corporate behaviour we’ve seen from GW. As long as they insist on 30%+ profit margins, then they will continue to serve their customers poorly and by this I mean shrinkflation and higher prices!
I was planning to get two of the knights battleforce but after the change/confirm of what is actually included it really depends on the price point. A good discount and I'd get one but if it's the price I expect I'll give it a miss.
Yeah last time IIRC they didn't even say at all whether the armigers in the Chainbreaker Lance box contained all the weapons or not - as the armiger box had just been updated to include all weapon options. Even the manager at my local GW said it would be the full kit and he was utterly wrong - you got 2 helverins and 2 warglaives. So in that sense this is an upgraded box, just a shame they had to then take away from the Questoris knight. Could have happily lived without the Rex sprue but the carapace/thunderstrike sprue kinda opens up a lot of options.
The knight box is a schame. Since it would've been so easy to just buy two and be basically done with your 2k army, but now you have to work around it a bit more.
I was gonna buy 1 or 2 knight boxes to get a 2000 point army but I guess I will just skip this box and save my money instead. Thank you games workshop 👍
Regardless of the failings, the prices themselves are absolutely absurd. The process is injection plastic mold, which has been streamlined for decades. It's cheap materials and a cheap and easy process to make. It makes no sense to have the prices where they are. Every kit should be AT LEAST 50% cheaper
I just picked up the Auric Champions box and while some models aren't as good as they used to be it's an extremely solid purchase for the price. It's also clear that the models I got have all the normal purchase options. The idea of a battleforce that excludes the standard sprues when the model selection is already so limited doesn't bode well for future releases. Next thing you know we're going to find out that the Death Wing box is all monopose kits and the Dark Angels upgrade sprue is only compatible with Firstborn tactical marines.
I don't play much, but was considering this as a good way of supplementing the imperial soup on my shelf by finally getting a knight. I want the carapace weapons to make it a chunky boy, so will now not bother.
I was thinking about starting Imperial Knights, but now there’s no fucking way. I hope no one buys it to show GW we’re not okay with these kinds of practices. If it sells well, it’ll just tell GW they can keep doing this and shift the Overton window-making what’s unacceptable today seem normal tomorrow.
It's basically push fit version of imperial knights unit, cut to minimum viable product, I think I'll pass on this one. I was plannign to get knight as a hobby project, but I'd feel kind of cheated if the set was comming with minimum possible options.
Oh damn I was going to get the knight box just because it was so good.. They just lost out on me buying that and then a few more models to get 2k points lol
"Though could have a fairly flexible knight if you also buy another questoris and share the options between the two, just wouldn't be able to double up on certain things" - most tone-deaf comment from you yet. For a $200 Battleforce box I should not have to purchase ANOTHER $200 non-discount box to "complete it" - and even then, not fully! MASSIVE failure from GW. The fact it was "changed" afterwards was intentional.
I was on the fence for the knight box. I already have 14 armigers. So a 4th questoris is what i was really after. Guess i wont get the kit. Or i might just 3d print what im missing but uhh. Why are you like this James!
Shame about the imperial knight change. While the discount isn't as great, it's not like IK have many discount boxes other than the Christmas ones to choose from..
GW is really missing the mark on these boxes. Battleforce boxes get people into new armies and buying more models. I bought 2 boxes of chainbreaker because it was such a great deal. In the last two years I've expanded my knights. Bought voidsmen and a cerastus knight lancer. Those purchases were enabled by the battleforce boxes. Gw is treating too many of these boxes as stock shelf cleaning in the warehouse.
Considering the box will most likely be even more expensive than the last christmas box I'm personally skipping it and it's a huge relief considering how hard it was to get these boxes in the first place.
i wanted the imperial knights box mostly to add some knights into my imperial agents army. missing these sprues honestly makes me just want to buy a regular questoris box. no canis rex is a dealbreaker.
Very interesting move by GW with the knights box, overall it sours opinions on GW further. The box will still sell out regardless, knights just dont sit on the shelves for long. Its still a decent discount(basically a free box of Armigers) and is still valuable to new players(Id buy it if I wanted to started knights). I do wonder if this possibly hints at GW attempting to sell knights as more individual kits in the future, forcing customers to spend more. A simple look at the current Cerastus knights, points to the fact they all use similar frames. I know they were originally seperate kits for FW, but they could have easily been combined in one kit when they went to plastic
I bought a magcase because of you. It's pretty straightforward to set up, just a lot of screws, and it's VERY sturdy. The weight is a bit of a downside but it's still nice enough. There were a couple of very small cracks in the corners of some of the MDF but they're almost unnoticable for the most part.
Now THESE Exosuits, they finally took it easy on "here are more edges than anyone should ever highlight" designs on the Squats. Thank god. More Space Biker aesthetic would be great.
I was gona get the knight box, but will hold out now. As someone who has no knights, I thought this was a fantastic opportunity to get into knights. But I guess it will have to wait!
Makes sense, in a sort of selfish business model, that they take the box with highest demand and see what they can take out to squeeze us of more profits. I hate that they have now become a company like this, bs back when they were not publicly owned and offered even individual sprues for order.
Was planing on ordering 2 Knight boxes and 1 Dark Angel box. Now I will print my Knights as originally planned and order only 1 box of Dark Angels. Saves me some money. Thanks GW.
Ah yes, more Necromunda Squat models and not Votann. Ya know, the army that is barely even 50% complete in terms of unit variety? Thanks, James Workshop. But hey, at least we got Ironkin in a fur coat.
To be fair, the Necromunda Ironhead Squats were released before Votann and have had rules but no models for these since they were introduced. However, you have a great point. Votann definitely needs more to work with. Should hopefully see more coming next year
I'm planning to start a knight army. Not being able to make canis rex outta that thing is a huge bummer but I was planning to run 2 questoris anyway so I need one of their boxes and I can just crib the gear I need outta that. I will probably yoink the box regardless cause its still a decent grab for me. Was gonna go Canis Rex and a Warden anyway. Totally get why some people are backing out though. GW literally just can't help themself from being a shitter it seems.
Then they better change that box text or they could get sued for false advertising. The Box says 6 Miniatures, that would include the Pilot for the Questoris. If it doesnt include it then thats only 5 in the box. That is grounds, in the US, for sueing due to false advertising. I can see GWs arguement that the Questoris can build 2 DIFFERENT models, but I do believe quantity wise its usually argued/enforced as TOTAL items in box not the possible, so like you cant sell a lego kit that says 40 different kits/builds in a box if it only has the parts for 10 but each can build 4 different variants.

Shame about the Valorstrike Lance. I only wanted a fully-working 1,000-point army. The weird thing is that while the box is seemingly geared up for newcomers, you’d likely have to turn it into a 2,000-point army because you’ll end up having to buy another Questoris (and turn it into a Canus Rex) just to get the appropriate carapace and melee weapons-and even then the new players wouldn’t stop there and likely push it all the way to create a 2,000-point army just to avoid the sunken cost of building a Canus Rex and then not using it. I’ll probably just stick to a 1,000-point list Knight army and buy all of the Armigers and the Paladin separately. 🤷♂️

See if you can find an old chainbreaker lance box in a lfgs or online for a decent price, ie 250-300, it's what this box should have been.
Tbh it’s still a good starting set and we all know canis Rex is going to get wrecked come balance change and knights codex.
Easy enough to pick up a knight weapon option on eBay
Agree though it’s still scummy to swap it back to OG sprue vs one last time
Yeah I'm in the same boat. I was thinking of the knight box as an alternative since there's no Dex Marine or Nids box.
Buuuut I wanted a complete model and no carapace weapon means it's not complete.
Wow, you're just like me!
@@Kaelnovar There are effectively none of those going for less than 350USD
Taking out the other knight sprues is such a slap in the face for anyone wanting to collect knights. I can understand taking out Canis Rex but Half of the knight options if just disrespectful. I can say that I probably won’t be buying this box anymore.
43 seconds ago is mental lol. I'm so sad about the thunderstrike gauntlet
The Knights box is a giant slap in the face to all Warhammer customers. GW is basically saying we're going to sell you sh*t and you will like it
Bet all boxes still sell out
@@volcanboy I am not shure anymore there are toons of battleforce boxes around I hope customers speak and dont support this kind of BS
I swear turbo nerds (like all 40k fans are) must be masochist. Because GW has treated them horribly for years. And they always crawl back.
And if you suggest something like 3d printing as a way of boycot (for example) they lose their minds in GW defense mode.
I don't doubt the boxes will sell out.
@@volcanboy there's a shop near me that still has a couple boxes from last year. Granted, the shop is focused on card games far more than miniatures, but it's still pretty surprising
Valrak will still praise them.
I regret not buying the Chainbreaker box set when I had the chance. This one is so disappointing. At least it should have carapace weapons.
For the sake of one extra spru that costs GW like 50p to make and brings a huge profit margin thats a ridiculous decision. If it puts off just 1 in 200 people who were going to buy it its still lost them money,
I'm one of those people! I was genuinely interested in starting a Knight army with this box, mainly because Canis Rex, but now I'm back to not caring about Knights at all really haha
They box will still sell out it will cost them nothing
Never buy gw there is literally 1 for 1 models available for 3D print and extras at better quality
@thunderwarrior2459 as someone with a 3D printer, the models are definitely better compared to their fine cast stuff, but don't kid yourself with thinking they are better than the plastic stuff GW has. Not defending GW's BS tactics, but their plastic models are some of, if not the highest quality models on the market atm.
They didn't lose shit, most people that buy these boxes aren't reading reddit or watching videos like this. It's parents buying kids stuff, and whales. GW can be as scummy as they want and STILL make money hand over fist.
The Paladin/Errant model was just the original way the Knight was released back in 6th Edition, right? IIRC the other weapons came later. I'd be they just had a ton of those old Knights laying around and wanted to get rid of them.
Pretty certain that the guy who designed the new Coteaz also did those exo armour squats...

Oh my Lord, it’s either people shitting on Votann designs or people shitting on Ironhead designs 😂
I think they look cool.
I was almost considering getting the knights box until I saw they weren't going to have any of the extra options for the knight itself.
Idk why they cant be generous for christmas. Now the DarkAngels boxes will have even more people wanting them ^^
Are they though?
Deathwing Knights are a great units for a while now and any serious DA enthusiast will have the Lion already, while he is also not as desireable on the table top in general.
I doubt that people would just pivot and want the DA box now, because the Knight one is bad.
@@Gnarlf The DA box is great for anyone getting into the army, having all very usable models unlike other boxes. The Lion is not playable in top-tier armies, but he is a fantastic model and very good in less competitive play. IMO the DA box is the best by far.
@@Gnarlf Its a really good box to get started with DA and its the only box that will likely be worth its money in 40k
Becuase people worship them regardless. Scumrak and his audience, for example, love everything.
The chainblade teaser are clearly nipple chainswords for an Emperor´s Children Sound Dreadnought. Since it carries sound weapons on each side, it somehow has to fight back.
It has chainsaw nipples and a Volcano Cannon dick.

Especially when there's 30k for Humans v Humans
I think
Admech lost data sheets on 10th. I know a bunch of others did too.
It wouldn't be too shocking.
(if they hadnt already gotten a codex this edition, i would've said GSC are the next faction to go, getting melded into the tyranids book)
@@kyrridas1573 which of the Harlequin models are fine cast? Pretty sure they're all plastic. They won't be going away, but they definitely will be getting lumped in with Aeldari like last edition.
Hey Auspex did you also know Games Workshop has also seemingly pulled all off the Riptide Battlesuits from everywhere? I don't know if this is to fill the Christmas boxes OR to try and make people buy the Christmas box more.

I don't mind if you get one or two variants in a box. What I do mind is not even get all the upgrades to those specific variant. Especially losing the carpace weapons is a big no-no in my book. It's like selling a Leman Russ box that didn't include any hull mounted weapons. GW just lost a sale from me.
My baby woke me up so we could catch the latest Auspex Tactics video together, at 4:30 am
Shame about the knight box change. It's still not a terrible deal but for someone wanting the full set for futureproofing, it's not as attractive. And doing this so closely before the codex leaves me thinking of cleaning the old models off the shelf before new updated kits appear might just be in the cards.
And those squats are wearing Commander Keen helmets. Now you can't unsee it.
Happy to see that the only box I was considering now does not build a complete model. My wallet will be thankful
The squats are better suited to be converted in Thunderkins, imho. They could be fielded as a squad of 4 . Provided that you have spare ranged options and arms from the standard kit.
The chaos thing looks very aggressive to me. Kinda giving World Eaters vibes. hoping for either a light demon engine or red butchers.
It would be nice if World Eaters got more unique stuff to fill out their range with, wouldn't it?
It reminds me of the sword the Wardogs have.
@@Wanten-the-stormtrooper Indeed
(I'm betting they "full release" for May 2025)
Now, I do think we will see one or two "codex only" releases in between Guard -> Eldar, but I'd more expect the likes of Black Templars, Dark Eldar or Grey Knights.
We almost certainly get Chaos Knights alongside or right after Imperial Knights
I feel that Emp's Children are likely to be the 'Fall 2025' big launch/release
And then we probably get our "end of edition cycle" campaign books with the focus on (probably) Fulgrim's antics + return of Russ as the Loyalists will need another Primarch on their side.
Maybe this is sign to snatch that last 9th edition command edition starter ser
Well that feels like a huge middle finger. Why would I want a knight that can't be Canis Rex AND can't have a carapace weapon?
It’s all in line with the corporate behaviour we’ve seen from GW. As long as they insist on 30%+ profit margins, then they will continue to serve their customers poorly and by this I mean shrinkflation and higher prices!
GW being GW. Looks like I just saved a ton of money.
I was planning to get two of the knights battleforce but after the change/confirm of what is actually included it really depends on the price point. A good discount and I'd get one but if it's the price I expect I'll give it a miss.
I like that they said the update to the knight box this early on at least instead of after release or during preorder timeframe
The teaser is perhaps World Eaters Lord on foot

The knight box is a schame. Since it would've been so easy to just buy two and be basically done with your 2k army, but now you have to work around it a bit more.
Everytime I think to myself "maybe I'll get into 40k soon" GW comes out and does something that reminds me of why I haven't made the dip.
👍👍 knights box downgrade is a real shame but plastic Necromunda is brilliant!
I was gonna buy 1 or 2 knight boxes to get a 2000 point army but I guess I will just skip this box and save my money instead. Thank you games workshop 👍
Honestly I think that chainblade might be a tyrannid, looks super organic
Regardless of the failings, the prices themselves are absolutely absurd. The process is injection plastic mold, which has been streamlined for decades. It's cheap materials and a cheap and easy process to make. It makes no sense to have the prices where they are. Every kit should be AT LEAST 50% cheaper
Just went from getting 2 Knights boxes to start the army to 0, shame.
I am disappointed, but not surprised about the knights box update.
Whelp, that saves me from getting stressed on release day trying to get a knight box...
In rumor engine, the chainsword is Just the CK wardog chainsword with skin all over it
No Thunderstrike Gauntlet!!?? Literally useless then. Lost one of the greatest weapons in 40k 1:41
Hopefully the chainblade is for more world eaters because the WE are sort of shafted with unique units.
I swear there Christmas boxes are always just an excuse to shift old boxings of miniatures or ones not a lot of people buy
Killed my interest in the box
"Though could have a fairly flexible knight if you also buy another questoris and share the options between the two, just wouldn't be able to double up on certain things" - most tone-deaf comment from you yet.
For a $200 Battleforce box I should not have to purchase ANOTHER $200 non-discount box to "complete it" - and even then, not fully!
MASSIVE failure from GW. The fact it was "changed" afterwards was intentional.
If it's been the same as the Chainbreaker Lance box from 2 years ago, I would have bought 2.
As it is, I'll buy 0.
I was on the fence for the knight box. I already have 14 armigers. So a 4th questoris is what i was really after. Guess i wont get the kit. Or i might just 3d print what im missing but uhh. Why are you like this James!
New to 40k and was gonna pick up the imperial knights. I will stand with the community and say hell no!
Oooooo thats the sound of my 3D Printer warming up 2:11
Shame about the imperial knight change.
Fine. Nevermind then. Not like I was likely to be able to get a Knight box anyway. I don’t need to spend the money.
I'm so disappointed in the knights box, I was going to buy upwards of 3 of them but now it's completely useless to me😢
I bought a magcase because of you. It's pretty straightforward to set up, just a lot of screws, and it's VERY sturdy. The weight is a bit of a downside but it's still nice enough. There were a couple of very small cracks in the corners of some of the MDF but they're almost unnoticable for the most part.
the Chaos Chainsword Weapon screams for me WorldEaters the pipe does have the same look as some WE minis have on there pipes
The old knight battle force was so good
Now THESE Exosuits, they finally took it easy on "here are more edges than anyone should ever highlight" designs on the Squats. Thank god. More Space Biker aesthetic would be great.
I was gona get the knight box, but will hold out now. As someone who has no knights, I thought this was a fantastic opportunity to get into knights. But I guess it will have to wait!
Less spending 👍 thank you GW. Congrats to Łukasz Żaba.
Damn that sucks for the knights box. I wanted one, but i'll save my money.
Makes sense, in a sort of selfish business model, that they take the box with highest demand and see what they can take out to squeeze us of more profits. I hate that they have now become a company like this, bs back when they were not publicly owned and offered even individual sprues for order.
That's sad, it's not even like it would cost GW much more to include the sprues.
Cool, I've gone from having tentative interest in one Christmas boxset to no interest at all - wallet is safe.
Yeah GW does it again!! So no Knights for me and my friends.
Might pick up the new squats to use in GSC, do a head swap, maybe glue an extra arm on and they'll fit the space miner aesthetic.

Hello from the land of 3:30 am
Thanks for the update, i was planning on buying this box and would not have known about the reduced options if i did.
