It is because you use the free version of Davinci. Unfortunately you need the paid version to import that footage. Because HDR pq generate h.265 10 bit footage. But you can edit only 8 bit in free. I saw some video about that people convert the footage so they can open. Try to search on It like”how to load 10 bit in Davinci”
Hi, there's another way to use that 10bits footage and it its by transcoding your hdr pq footage into apple pro res or dnxhr/hqx you can use shutter encoder for that, then you basically follow the same steps in the video.😬 What happens is that as far as i understand, windows does not support the codec h265 hvec 10 bits and the free version of davinci neither because of windows.
Hi. I am so glad that it's helpful! :D Well about the nodes. People are using like 20 different nodes. 🤣 But for this you need Minimum 3. Because. First and last is the ColorSpaceTransform. It's literally ONLY for setting up the correct codec. Like the Rec709 for final look. So the first and last node is like techniqual things. The middle one is for colorgrade or color correct. And you want to make changes BETWEEN the 2 other nodes. Because we set it up for "DavinciWideGamut" and we want to work BETWEEN those settings. So you literally make changes between those nodes, and not on others. But now i usuall have 2 nodes. First and last (For ColorSpaceTransform) and a bunch more inbetween. 1 for white balance, 1 for exposure 1 for masking, 1 for special things etc. So at the end I'll have like 5-6-7 different nodes. And the reason for this. I want to be able to go back anytime and make changes. Only on an exposure for example. Or only just the white balance. So everything is separated. Easy to go back and tweak it.
@@travisxander Ah, okay i think i got it. It's because most likely the option called HDR PQ mode is set to ON in your settings. Whether it's video or photo, you can enable HDR PQ which gives you a bit more dynamic range. And when you use this mode, the histogram change a bit. If you disable the HDR PQ mode you will see that your histogram is "normal" But if you want to use the HDR PQ, no problem, just keep it like that, expose as you would, and it will show the same results, just with the rights side is greyed out.
@@reyesproductionDK thank you for that explanation! I wonder if that greyed out area means something or has a value on the graph? Since in HDR PQ we tend to underexpose the highlights... the "greyed out" area is on the highlights portion of the graph.
The short answer is: because the 10 bit h265 file is not good for editing. It’s heavy for the editing software. I have the RTX3050 gpu and 16gb ram, sometimes the timeline is laggy. But If you generate the proxy, you can Edit sooo smoothly. Without any lag. And It can speed up your work I will make a video to show you the before after, and why I use It 🤝
Yes. Well, in this case i use HDR PQ to get 10 bit colors to edit. Even though i have no HDR capable monitor, you can edit and see the footage. Of course it's not "HDR" on your regular screen but the DATA in the video is there. So for example if you want to colorgrade, you have 1 billion color instead of 16 million. So basically you just got more space to work with. If you understand me.
I just checked, yes. Still h.265 4.2.2 10 bit on FHD. But don't forget, with free DavinciResove can't open and edit 10 bit footage. Unless you convert it somehow. @@БогданаКрасива
