That's the mighty Khan. No one can match his emotion, his emphasis on phrasing and that one-of-a-kind hypnotic voice. You can no more replace Roy Khan then you can replace Peter Steele in Type O Negative... one-of-a-kind just can't be matched. When Roy left kamelot I don't even listen to them anymore. Tommy is an awesome singer but just don't have the soul or the feeling in his singing like Roy, not many can at that level... Roy Khan, one of the best frontmen ever on the planet. So thanks to Roy for coming back and Reviving conception. Conceptions new stuff is awesome as well

Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) and Alissa White-Gluz (the Agonist / Arch Enemy) used to be regular backing vocalists for Kamelot's North American tours. Elize auditioned for Nightwish before Annette joined, and Kamelot opened for Nightwish on their North American tour in 2012, which is why Elize and Alissa were there to cover for Annette in Denver when she got sick.

Meanwhile, after Casey Grillo left for joining Queensryche, another german, Alex Landenburg on drums, raised it to 60%.

Fun fact: in 2012 Kamelot was touring as a support for Nightwish. Kamelot was with guest-vocalists Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) and Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy). At one gig Nightwish found that their vocalist Anette was unable to perform so girls (Elize Ryd and Alissa White-Gluz) were on stage as her makeshift replacement (they had one hour to prepare). After that Floor was quickly invited and she took over on next gig. There is on RUclips a documentary about that tour, change etc. Worth watching, and might be extra interesting for you as a roadie.

I saw them a year later on the Ghost Opera tour in Wolverhampton and if my hazy memory of 13 years ago is right they had a similar set up, and I do remember it being a bloody good show even if I wasn't a fan of Ghost Opera. The Elizabeth suite from the One Cold Winters Night show is also brilliant, as is Moonlight, March of Mephisto and Nights of Arabia.

Tommy Karevik is one of the singers on the new album of Ayreon. He also was in the first live concerts and other projects.
I started listening to Kamelot last week and I quite like it. The female singer is Simone Simons of Epica. She also sings on the latest album of Ayreon and in the last live concert and on many albums.

This is one of my favorite songs from the band and it's a very cool live. I'm happy that you had your chance to react to them. The fact that you seemed kind of disappointed with how short the song is, maybe next time you could react to their song "Forever" from the same concert. This song is a bit longer and is one of their live staples. This is a killer performance. The camera direction focuses a lot more on the band, plus you get to witness the awesomeness of their former drummer, Casey Grillo. 😎

I've been at their concert in 2008, it was pretty good! A few of the girls I was there with made it their goal to touch Khan :D it was fun :)

I saw Kamelot in a small club on their last North American tour. They Pack a lot a lot of lights in that little place. Can't wait to see them again, the show was in Edmonton Ab Canada and Tommy lives in Calgary Ab. Our neighbors to the south. So, I'm pretty sure they'll be coming more often. Check out Love You To Death.

And i modded against tidal waves of political talk in the chat. XD And then you show up in the middle of it. EVERY DAMN TIME Tank XD we are all super happy that you made it though!

This is something to react to. The most emotional song ever. The greatest guitar solo even performed. I saw this song live in 1980. All pain pain in the world, lost of people you love, lost of hope, and all the ghosts from the war screaming. The solo is 5 min long but epic.

Interestingly enough, Thomas Youngblood omits certain solo sections, and lead riffs during their live shows. Usually it was to highlight Khan, or Tommy, etc... but he's a super technical guitarist. Casey Grillo is also someone I would honestly consider in the top drummers in the world, he has even released a "Pedals to the Metal" double bass instructional video, as well as held clinics all over the place. I was bummed when he bailed from Kamelot to play exclusively with Queensryche.

You for sure need to check out the live version of Sacrimony (the same one chase just did). It's super recent with Tommy and features Alissa from Arch Enemy and Elize from Amaranthe. It's SO good!

So much Kamelot today! Yay yay yay yaaaaaaaassssss!
Oeh Tank another fun fact about the album The Black Halo. If you rewind song 1 on the cd, like it's a cassette tape, you get welcomed to the theatre. If you just start the album you won't get it. ^^
They also used Fabio Lione of Rhapsody, Rhapsody of Fire... Lione/Turilli Rhapsody. But only for a tour, not for studio recordings.
Also just listen to Kamelot and I'm happy.

As someone else mentioned, Roy is now back with his old band Conception (which is an *amazing* band in their own right). Kamelot does tour the US frequently, but Conception does not (I don't think they've ever done an actual tour here). I saw their, at time, limited run reunion show at ProgPower in 2005 and it was a religious experience. Now that they're back together full time they're one of the headliners next year. Kamelot has played the fest 4 times themselves, including in 2010 around the time Roy left the band and Michael Eriksen of Circus Maximus filled in for the show... except that Tommy was also there with his other band Seventh Wonder and stepped in to play 1 song with the band during that set. Little did we know at the time it was a preview of things to come! Michael is an amazing singer as well and there are some videos on YT of that performance. His band Circus Maximus is well worth checking out. One last aside, I actually think Tommy sounds better in Seventh Wonder than he does in Kamelot. Check out their song Alley Cat as a sample, such an incredible mix of complexity and catchiness.

I am so glad you listened to them! Really anything is good from them, honestly... I love their new dvd, but seeing this again makes me want to listen to that dvd again.
Would still say Phantom Divine is a good one from the new dvd. But I love everything from them, together with Nightwish and Epica they are in my top 3!

Kamelot and Epica are related in several ways, Kamelot has an album called Epica that has a concept of a fantasy place called that way, Mark Jansen took this concept and name for his band, Simone is featured in several Kamelot songs and as you said, she is married to Oliver Palotai, the keyboardist.

Sacrimony Live with Elize Ryd (from Amaranthe) and Alissa White-Gluz (From Arch Enemy)... Tommy is singing for Kamelot ;)
That is two Swedes and a Canadian (from a Swedish band) singing for an American band....... Metal is not bound by petty borders ;)
