If Toyota had some brains they’d import the Hi Lux and Fortuna from Asia. Hi Lux is smaller than the Tacoma and ,yes a 4 banger but a lot smaller vehicle to push around. The Fortuna could have replaced , or being rebadged as the 4Runner. This would have lead to no overlap between the new 4 Runner and the Landcruiser.
Which is WHY I bought the 2024 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4 Crew cab....After test driving the Toyota Tacoma Sport, I was truly disgusted with what Toyota had done.....Not only that but, the Nissan is still made in the USA. has a V6, all steel 6ft bed with factory sprayed in bed liner.
@jeanclaude7018 I test drove the Ford, and Chevy trucks all of which have been castrated with the 4cyl engines, I was not impressed with them either. Nope, i needed and wanted a v6 and Nisan is the only one still offering it, not only that but the price for the truck was nearly 10k LESS than what Toyota was asking. Hey, I still have a 2003 Toyota Camry, runs like a top and am constantly being offered to buy it from me but, NOPE, I could never replace it with something newer that would be as dependable as it has been.
@jeanclaude7018 thank you! Now I didn't go all out on the frontier like you did just now but ok! However that is your opinion! Yes I'll take the Tundra looks over the frontier any day!
This is probably the best opportunity General Motors has had in decades to become Americas brand again. Build quality and reliability, build what Americans want to buy, and offer affordability.
The new Chevys are actually really nice. The tech works well. They just need to pivot away from these three cylinder engines in their affordable offerings such as Trax and terrain
They need to offer the Mideast versions. Boxy, simple, manual transfer case, manual transmissions or the proven Aisin's, V-6 naturally aspirated and half the electronics.
Toyota ruined the 2025 4Runner. It’s a 2024 Tacoma with a roof. 4 cylinder Turbo/hybrid engine. Cheap exterior and interior plastics. Who cares if the car is built in Japan if the parts and components are cheaply made. Toyota messed up once again and deserves to fail.
Right on brother. However Toyota hasn't cornered the market of high priced junk cars/trucks. Pretty much every automobile manufacturer is doing the same thing. It's almost like they all got together and shared best practices on building and selling automobiles.
Untamed I 100% RESPECT your transparency on Toyotas newest vehicles , there’s other channels who aren’t as transparent and seem to dislike my comments on their RUclips Lives due to them having some type of partnership with Toyota. TrdJon is who I refer to. But honestly you’re the reason I purchased my 2022 TRD Pro 4Runner in Lime Rush. @@deeptobanerjee24true, however the EPA’s crippling emissions standards forced Toyota to ditch naturally aspirated V6s and V8s in favor of hybridized smaller displacement engines that consumers don’t want.
It’s not Toyota, it’s the government, and really it’s not just the government but the fact that they’re not built in Japan. Japanese built Toyotas, like the Land Cruiser and 4Runner haven’t had these issues. And the Land Cruiser prado sold in Japan has a diesel option which would likely sell well here, but because of regulations it can’t be sold here. Basically, the cost of importing from Japan is too much and the quality of products made in the U.S. and Mexico doesn’t hold up, and because the quality is worse, the engines aren’t being built up to tolerance, so they have these issues.
Finally, someone with the stones to say what everybody knows is true. All these other truck channels on RUclips are afraid to insult their grand master Toyota. Let’s face it this video absolutely nails the problem and Toyota is in big trouble. When Trump and acts those huge 25% tariff on imported Mexican goods they can kiss all their extra profits goodbye. And it’s true, Toyota needs to return to their original values. They’re ripping off the consumer and anyone who buys a Toyota is getting ripped off.
Car companies work in 3-5 year cycles. These engines are not coming back as the next president can just change the standards again. They not gonna spend billions to go backwards. Toyota is by far the largest and richest car company in the world.
We were in the market for a new toyota highlander or sienna for my wife, bu after they got rid of their V6 engines and switched over to 4 cylinder turbos or hybrids, we ditched toyota and got her a new honda pilot which still uses a V6
I’d choose the sienna over the passport v6. Sienna will last so much longer as that powertrain is amazing and the fuel economy average is double that of the passport. Have 80k on my 22 sienna and it runs just like the day I bought it. Only regret was at the time I was only able to find the le trim due to demand. I would have gone with a higher trim as the interior is more better and more comfortable than the base trim.

Toyota took a gamble with their new trucks and SUVs to try and chip away at their massive debt. ..increase margin for lesser cost product. Unfortunately, the gamble is a loss and they will have to try again.
As someone who has owned 3 toyotas, I just bought my wife a mazda cx5 after test driving A rav4. It's quieter has better power and drives much better. It was also less expensive. Around $8,000 less. She's happy...I have a 2006 sequoia that I drive, it's one of the best cars I've ever owned. I'll keep it till it gives up. I will not buy anything in a truck platform with a 4 cylinder engine...my V8 will go another 200,000 miles or so. Get the politicians Out of the economy and stop pushing stupid revisions on vehicles....prices will go down When people stop the insanity of buying just to have a newer car. .
The real problem is not the company but the people. The previous generation of men are responsible and care about quality and reliability. Its happening in all aspect of life not just in automotive market.
I bought a 2006 4Runner w/ 95k miles on it for $15k in 2018. Excellent condition. I can sell it now for $15k with 158k miles on it, in slightly less as good condition. Crazy. I will not be selling it. Love that thing.
I’m just not sold on these hybrid powertrains. Massive, bulky, heavy batteries, with over complicated engineering and slightly better mpg? Higher cost. Just Seems like a mess to me.
Exactly , simplicity and reliability. Personally I don't want turbos for my everyday driver. Everything is more expensive and that's a whole different video.
These turbo charged engines just are not going to last very long. They will probably be maintenance nightmares, at least that is what my perception is. I drive a Toyota and thought I would be buying another, but now I don't think its worth it. I am actually looking at American car companies again for the first time in three decades.
I have a 2017 Tacoma off road. And I test drove the new 2024 Tacoma and tundra and they do ride nice, but heeeccckk no, I’m not going to go with a weaker motor and turbo. I want simplicity, longevity, reliability, and affordable. I’m now looking for a previous gen tundra.
Toyota has left the Deming model of management and quality. Look up Edwards Deming, he is the reason Toyota was King. Now, the younger generation thinks they know so much and they destroy all the hard work that made the brand King!
I couldn't agree with you more as I live in San Antonio and have several friends that were laid off from the Toyota Plant ,and they were only making $20 per hour and the working conditions were some of the most stringent rules to follow.I've been looking to buy a new Tacoma but the quality just isn't there.
I’m a Toyota owner of a 2021 Rav-4 non-hybrid.. which we love. I just purchased a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL Premium V6 Naturally Aspirated 9-speed transmission.. absolutely love it. Build , amenities, no longer a CVT transmission and at reasonable price point. Hopefully Nissan gets their financial stability back because they have something good in the New Pathfinder as well. Think about it, I bought a 2021 TRD off-road double cab long bed Tacoma with the premium technology package and a few other upgrades like the TRD skid plate and the out the door price in April of 2021 was $36,999. The window sticker was 41k. I plan on keeping this truck until it’s 15-20 years old if it lasts that long.
I’ve always appreciated Toyota, but given the recent concerns around reliability and pricing, I won’t consider purchasing one until they address these issues.
I refuse to spend my hard earned money on any truck or suv that has a four cyl . Greedy companies that put their bottom line above all else and at the expense of their loyal customers will not succeed !
My love for Toyota stopped after 2019. Now, they are pretty much the same as every other brand. Overpriced and built like it may last 3-5 years, not 30 years like the cars made prior to Covid. My 18 Landcruiser was my last Toyota, and as you said, Toyota castrated the model name for the Landcruiser. Shameful.
The financial industry aside, Toyota holds more debt than any other company on earth. They really dug themselves into quite a situation, and they want to play with wokeness on top of that? It probably won't take much to bring down Toyota, unfortunately.
The problem is the other big manufacturers are already suffering massive drops in sales and buckling under their own weight. Toyota is always last to the game, which has always been a good thing in the past because they keep what works. The problem is the other manufactures have figured out that 15-25% drops in sales quarterly will not sustain the company. Yes there are people who can afford what ever they want every 4-5 years. So you sell a $65-$100k a vehicle one time for every 20 customers and miss out on 19 sales. The people who can pay that money won't buy a new vehicle yearly. Its easy to see when you go to a GMC/Chevy/Ram dealership and still see new 2023 models on the lot. They better wake up soon.
I’m 52 years old I don’t wanna buy a new truck that’s gonna last me until I’m 72 years old 20 years that’s it. It has to be simple. I want a replica of the 90s Toyota four-wheel-drive truck the exact same size with wider drive axles like a bronco with wide flares something I can put 37 on with a 2 inch spacer kitand 40s with some serious modification, but I want strong axles and simplicity and low gears
So buy an old one replace the entire drivetrain, the steering the front end and everything else you need to do update the interior power seats Bluetooth whatever you need to do it will cost you 10’s of thousands less and it will get you through the rest of your life. I don’t understand why this is so difficult for people.
I met a little old lady at a Toyota dealership this week. She brought her Highlander in for a new windshield, and they COULD NOT get a Toyota windshield because they come from China. New subscriber! Thanks for confirming what I have been observing for the past couple years. Gas mileage sucks, I average 15.8 - but on a full tank of gas I can usually get around 374 miles. The new Tundra is a disaster too.
Keep it. I bought my 07 with about 97k on it and just hit 270k this weekend. It's had minor issues, most of which I have serviced. Even when I couldn't it was still way cheaper than buying one of these new $40k + trucks.
I’m keeping my first gen V8 SR5 Tundra until it bursts into flames.🔥
Same!
Dittos! My 2004 only has 15K miles, it’s a lifer!!
It will last you
They need to fire everyone who destroyed the tundra and 4Runners 🤦🏽♂️.

@jeanclaude7018 Why can't you just accept the fact that people buy what they WANT? 😂😂😂.
People want a v6 and v8. Nissan frontier sales are up. A lot more truck for less money. Nissan shouldn’t discontinue the titan just yet.
Nissan is still asking too much from their cars and trucks. There is nothing out there that is priced as it should be
That’s true
Imo... i don't like the look of the frontier. The titan not bad though

This is probably the best opportunity General Motors has had in decades to become Americas brand again. Build quality and reliability, build what Americans want to buy, and offer affordability.
Won’t happen. There is no motivation to excel even in their high end models sadly.
The new Chevys are actually really nice. The tech works well. They just need to pivot away from these three cylinder engines in their affordable offerings such as Trax and terrain
GMC's have always been overpriced. They can become America's brand again? They weren't in the last 20+ years.
They could but they won't . ☹️

Toyota is a MESS! I hope they figure things out. Those prices are STUPID😮
That new land cruiser has no appeal. If Toyota really wants to commit suicide, they'll follow through with ruining the 4 runner.
They need to offer the Mideast versions. Boxy, simple, manual transfer case, manual transmissions or the proven Aisin's, V-6 naturally aspirated and half the electronics.
the previous landcruiser hand no appeal and sold poorly what did you want toyota to do huh?
Toyota ruined the 2025 4Runner. It’s a 2024 Tacoma with a roof. 4 cylinder Turbo/hybrid engine. Cheap exterior and interior plastics. Who cares if the car is built in Japan if the parts and components are cheaply made. Toyota messed up once again and deserves to fail.
Yep. The new land cruiser makes me cringe
@@kay2187make a cheap NA engine with no bells and whistles for 50k or less
And again I respect your transparency !and don’t change that because we no longer have that these days due to partnerships and censorship. Thank you 🙏

I was only going to buy Toyota and Lexus for the rest of my life. Now I would never buy one for all of these reasons.
Can't Toyota just put V6's and V8's back in these cars. Is it that difficult to transition? I wish Toyota did away with supercharged and CVT's.
It's the government
Not with the tnga platform, not without a major engineering change
I was super excited about the new land cruiser… bought a 24 Honda trail sport pilot v6. The 4banger turbo totally killed it for me
@@deeptobanerjee24true, however the EPA’s crippling emissions standards forced Toyota to ditch naturally aspirated V6s and V8s in favor of hybridized smaller displacement engines that consumers don’t want.
I’m feeling pretty good about my 2022 4Runner right now
I have a 2006 no rust less than 100000 miles I'm good for a while.
Trumps not putting a 25% tariff unless he wants a recession.

Have 80k on my 22 sienna and it runs just like the day I bought it. Only regret was at the time I was only able to find the le trim due to demand. I would have gone with a higher trim as the interior is more better and more comfortable than the base trim.

Preach on. Long term Toyota owner. The new breed of vehicles, specifically the Trucks are trash. Fan boys are still yelling about "how great" Toyota is. It's pathetic.
I wish Mazda would make a truck again. They have a plant in the US.
Mazda’s B series truck was a Ford Ranger and before that it was a Ford Courier. They never built a truck on their own.
I have two buddies with V6 Tacoma's. They have no interest in the new ones due to price, the turbo four cylinder and made in Mexico. Toyota might have shot themselves in the crotch.

A TRD off road should be $40,000. I’m not paying $50K for it. Never.
The real problem is not the company but the people. The previous generation of men are responsible and care about quality and reliability. Its happening in all aspect of life not just in automotive market.
Now this is how it is done. This guy gives facts, real facts. "Thank you." Everyone can learn from you.
Toyota became greedy idiots. Wait until the tariffs kick in 🤣
I bought a 2006 4Runner w/ 95k miles on it for $15k in 2018.
The Hilux has been turbo charged for quite some time and is one of Toyotas best selling vehicles worldwide.
I've had good luck with Toyota turbo-charged engines. Can't comment on other manufacturers.

My love for Toyota stopped after 2019. Now, they are pretty much the same as every other brand. Overpriced and built like it may last 3-5 years, not 30 years like the cars made prior to Covid. The financial industry aside, Toyota holds more debt than any other company on earth.
They really dug themselves into quite a situation, and they want to play with wokeness on top of that? It probably won't take much to bring down Toyota, unfortunately.
They also make a ton more revenue. 2024 Toyota YTD revenue is 311B compared to 182B for Ford.
