Yes, Kanami was a fan of Eddie Van Halen. She put out this statement when he died: Eddie Van Halen-sama… I got to know about tapping from your Eruption, and I have been writing instrumental songs hoping that one day I could create phrases like yours that pierce our hearts… You were a guitar hero I admire. May you rest in peace.
the Maids sizzled for sure in Houston last night.... if you get a chance to see them live .. GO GO GO ... about to drive to Austin for tonights show... have a great day ....
@@GSpotter63 Does a bigger cow bell give a bigger sound? Cos if it does Akane could take a leaf out of Slip Knot's book & instead of a barrel she could have a massive cow bell. Then after a showpiece drum solo she can smash at it with a sledgehammer. 🤔 Tho it would break your cow bell :)
The bass player, Misa, discovered early on that she could palm the pick very quickly while playing. So now she can go between picking and slapping that bass without skipping a beat (literally)
I want to thank you for this live performance video of "Without Holding Back". I hadn't seen it before. Up until today I had only seen and heard their studio recordings of "Without Holding Back". They also have a "White Room" studio video for this song on their "Unseen World" Blu Ray/DVD. Band-Maid is an amazing group of musicians. And BTW, their vocalists are pretty good, too! Actually, the EVH 5150 is Rhythm Guitarist, Miku Kobato's amp. Lead Guitar Kanami Tono uses a Mesa Boogie amplifier. Kamami taught Miku guitar from "Never played before" beginner to the accomplished player she is today and has guided Miku in her choice of gear. Miku and Kanami both shred! I hear that Kanami writes some of their instrumentals to push her band mates to new skill levels. Kanami Tono considers herself to be a music teacher. She will publish companion musical scores along with each album release so musicians can learn Band-Maid Songs! The "special releases" of their albums often include 'break-down' multitrack videos of them playing songs in a White Room with five versions. You can watch the whole band or you can watch the individual musicians perform each part. You'll see how Misa palms her pick while slapping. You'll see Kanami's fingering technique. You'll see Akane's kick drum skills but it will take years of intense practice to duplicate! Akane Hirose has received compliments from Jimmy Page. If you can't tell, I'm a huge Band-Maid fan.
Glad to see both of you joining forces for a Band-Maid review! So you’ve done two of their rock instrumentals, DICE, Warning, Domination…you’ve seen they can play, you’ve heard the thunder and seen the lightning…now it’s time to see how deep their creative well is… My respectful recommendation for your next reaction is the song they wrote specifically as a love letter to their fans they were missing due to the lockdowns. “About Us” ruclips.net/video/qicgVAxCYV8/видео.html Feb 11 Okyu-ji Saiki sings “Cries” and everyone pretty much does
Funny you should mention John Bonham. Jimmy Page caught one of the Miads' shows a while back and insisted on meeting Akane (the drummer) after the show. He told her that she was the reincarnation of John Bonham. There's a picture of them together that's easily Googled.
The Bonham reference is sadly made up but Jimmy Page was obviously seriously impressed by Akane and you can still find the picture and Akane's reaction in her twitter feed
Oh if yall like the funk you def also need to check out Gacharic Spin -- Kach Kachi Yama, the bass player F Chopper Koga is one of my fav bass players alongside MISA.
Well Gentlemen you blew my mind, first off I had no idea there was a live version of this floating around somewhere in the Wild. (Gonna have to go back and watch the old streaming concerts. Hope its not the December 2020 stream as its the only one I do not have) Secondly it's the first time I've ever heard Kanami in my left headphone that I can recall. She is usually in the right headphone with Miku in the left. Would you be able to post the link to the original video if possible?

This is a great version. I like the MV but this was very solid, no holds barred version. This instrumental was written by the lead guitarist as a study piece for the rhythm guitarist to practise different skills. But every musician got a chance to shine!
