Listen not for nothing it doesn't matter what equipment you use it's the person behind the machine that's what matters and learn your craft understand the history of all music
One can also buy an Akai S950 sampler if you want to get the mpc60 sound. However you then need a pad controller (Korg padKontrol, Akai MPD), and then connect to your computer sequencer or better yet a hardware sequencer. The S950 or S900 are a less expensive alternative to the all in one mpc60. If you are really thinking about saving money then get a DAT recorder (Tascam DA) and have it convert your drums to a lower bit rate.
he is right, for realistic samples, no other way to go but software. But for sampling records, 12 bit is the way to go. Definitely respect his reasons for using both hw and sw.
i think y people have gone all to software is because the older generation never spread all the tricks they do with hardware to the younger generation of producers...software is straight forward and easy to use, especially when you dont have a dj toomp you can just ask questions tothats why the producers now just mainly use use softwareno one taught us how to properly eq a drum so it hits rightjust send it to a mixing mastering engineer i use the motif es and fl studio and reason 4 all together
Damn I was just watching a video on the quantum computer on bits that explains the 12 bit. And that Yamaha ex7 which is mostly earth wind and fire heavier warmer sounds
My MPC 2000XL is the truth but the best production fat sound I have ever got was from me combining Reason, Pro Tools and my MPC with my hardware modules...so I say all that to say this....REAL TALK TOOMP...MUCH LOVE, PEACE AND FUNKY BEATS!
I just bought the mpc2000xl. Playing around with it, I think I might end up using it for its sequencer and running it through Battery. I have yet to find a decent pattern programmer with a workflow I like. FL is the closest but I like realtime pattern programming.
Ive had a 2500, 1000, 2000xl and 500. I now use an mpd, mpk and an apc with ableton and love it. I don't think folks should disrespect the particular tool a producer uses to make beats. If a cat has an mpc 3000 and is wack we not gonna say that 3000 is bullshit. And similarly if a cats on fruity loops and blazing that shit we shouldn't be like that dude is untalented for using software. We can all get some bricks, not everyone can make a house.
@UniqueThaPoet and not to mention all that hardware is expensive.. some of the best beats now are being made by teenagers using nothing but software and can't afford that studio set up
it's not the equipment that you use.. it's how you use it ... you don't need thousand dollar equipment to make thousand dollar beats .... but it never hurts to have a MAC computer...
Lol I watch one Toomp interview with BHigh & now I’m getting all these Toomp vids

TOOMP THE GREATEST DOWN SOUTH PRODUCER

First MPC I used is an MPC 60 II. That was in 1994 at some recording studio.
DJ Toomp Da God! What a class act this guy is! I'm fiendin for an MPC 60 after hearing this guy talk about one!!

@tonykanemusic It does have a different sound to the 2500. The 2500 only wins on functionality.
jgk381 Why do you think that horns should be removed? Just asking, course I think they fit in the music very well.

You can get 16,12,8 bit on the 2000xl
Actually Akai got bought out by Numark the new MPC's 2500 & the 1000 were made by Numark. I have a 2000xl it has that classic sound and feel to it.

@givehimanotherchance True that brother. Not everyone can build a house.

What he said about the MPC is tha troof!!!
I think referring to these thoughts as "philosophy" may be stretching it a bit.
Why he "dis" his 60' like that..lmao
roland horns should be banned from hip hop, lol.
