My friend Multi-Platinum producer Focus... in the studio talking about his process and giving a demonstration. Segment from the West Coast Theory Documentary.
Focus is so underrated. This kat produces some of the FUNKIEST basslines in the industry... if you want some FUNK in your beats I can't think of a better guy to turn to than FOCUS!!! I'm sure his Father taught him the importance of a funky bassline:-)
Focus said himself he is really bad at playing bass in another video - Sounded pretty good to me 👊🤣 his beats are knocking & are blessed with the swing
@3:24 WOW That is raw talent. To be able to switch from hardware to an actual instrument. It takes a long time to master something of that nature. Pz to focus. That's music fam!
That cat got heat that bootsy bass is a mother!!! It’s like a dream come tru kinda like a fern tail to be side by side with the best producer that ever done it much much luv&respect I come up on dr Dre he’s a phenomenal u on your way Fam make us proud opportunity like that comes a 1 in a million keep doing what you doing ima a Dj & I produce a little myself I’m use the mpc a lot I have 2 old school mpc 3000& a 2500 I just bought a mpc 1 that came out last year man keep it comeing tell Dre I said what do gangster keep doing what u doing u a fool wit it if u have drum kits let me know
Sampling is definitely an art..it's lik an artist making a colage...taking snippetes of pictures to come up with something different and better...and on that note ART NEVER goes out of style...it just reinvents itself...that's like saying we need some new chords...WTH???? Think before you speak...
Of course it’s an art no doubt and sampling is most definitely a corner stone of Hip-Hop! However Focus... mostly interpolates/replays samples as opposed to directly sampling, while the two are synonymous they are very different. Peace...
best producer on aftermath with dawaun parker, it would be great to see focus iwth his talent using instruments and dre ears we will have a bomb ;D guaranteed
@rahim4411 This is what he had to say about it in 2009: "I left 'cos I was really working hard and forgetting everything else. I wasn't spending time with my family ... I forgot about life outside of the studio. And we weren't putting out enough music to do that, and so it just made sense for me to just say, “Dre thanks for everything, you taught me a lot and let me show you what I can do".
Fam i like the way your drums sound coming out of the mixing board... Can you please tell me how you have your stuff hooked up ? i have a Mackis VLZ 4x24 mixing board , stanton SK 2F Dj mixer . numark TT500 turntable and a mpc2500. Also i have a Protool le 002 sound card i would like to mix down to. Thanks
