They made that hard ass beat look so easy to cook up. Two of my fav artist/producers
LoFi is basically using the equipment you had in your bedroom to make demos back in the 4-8 track days. I still use my MPC 3000 & ASR 10 to this day.
The asr-10 is SUPER slept on. Dope sampler.
It's also about the materials you used (warped, crackly records) plus the heroin-drummer swing 😁
I had an ASR-10 in the 90's and 2000's. The whole thing, with the 6 additional external outputs box (OEX6SR), 16Go RAM, SCSI. I even found an obscure french app that allowed me to burn CDs of my Zip cartridges in Ensoniq's weird format. Sold everything because I had money problems. Worst day of my producer life, I loved this machine. I knew each and every menu item by heart and could access it with a speed I never found anywhere else. The FX on this unit are insanely good.
iman's drums are always a direct hit on the soul
That simple groove put a big smile on my face.
When Hip Hop nerds discovered Dub, thank you for sharing how hard but fun and spontaneous it was in the past
That's what's missing today
@@ToniJXN Know a Few artist Making DUB still like Prince Fatty n Trauma Dub
Hip Hop nerds discover Dub? Hip Hop is an extension of Jamaican Dub lmaoo
I used to do beats just like that! I had the Tascam 4 track recorder, groove box, and a Casio keyboard! WoW! Memories!
me too. still do!
Same here 1998
Focus... and Iman are the G.O.A.T.s for playing this in live!!! Let's Go!!!!
The old classic of beat making is the true art of music!!
Iman Omari really a gem to the culture
Very excited to see this series unfold - sharing for sure
Iman Omari is like the long lost son of Eddie Griffin
I thought it was the man.
Idk I still make beats this way. DAW screens put me to sleep after 45 min
Y'all been killin it with these videos latley man. Putting me on game lol
this channel is helping the producers
Two of the best right there!
Nice. Love my TASCAM 414, I've used it for beatmaking, but it also just imparts a great character onto the stuff recorded into it.
That beat caught 🔥🔥 quick
YEEE 80's here we come back ,Amazing guys thank you
Incredible... Man this makes me wanna go out a d buy a 4 track 💯
Pumped for the next episode
Very cool! Sounds great!
That was hot. Y’all took me back to my 4 track recorder.
Uowwwwww!!! Thx from Brazil!!!
Awesome video fellas 💪🏽 😎. I remember looping samples on a tape deck to make beats 💪🏽, marginal room for error, you had to love it and have that indescribable thing. Either you had it or you did not.
Hey brothers, this brings back memories, I was doing this in 79 had to stop and take care of the family, 2021 I'm back in the mix and I'm going to make some noise. PeAcE..
Love it! 😎
Thx 4 sharing one love from germany
Two GOATS in this thing!!!
Such great content
So Dope🔥🔥🔥
The fact they are in Dr Dre's studio is crazy.
That’s crazy!
this was real dope
I guess what ive been doing all this time was lofi...wow... Music is timeless
I love the music
Aspiring beat makers watching this like yo, you got the MIDI sequence and a VST for that bass...
Smooth!
Damn that beat 🔥
Awesome. Inspiring. Nostalgic. Technique can flow into other genres.
Yes!
Inspiration for ever
Great Work
The TASCAM-488 is my favorite piece of equipment, best thing about linear recordings is that your musicians have to play good.
Legends.
I remember buying dat Blue tascam 4-track @ guitar center 97-98. I even got the upgraded one the year after. Still got em
Beautiful content
Those 4 track recorders are so sick
WAVE DOE,S A VERY GOOD JOB AT BRINGING MUSIC CREATING/ POD CAST/MASTER CLASS TO LIFE, ""BIG SHOUT TO WAVES AUDIO""..
this is to much, i came on the same set up, an just to see it be displayed all over agin, hats off to these guys for getting down, and it sounds so organic, SALUTE!!!!!..
thanks man im about to get into the MPC studio for arounf 2 months now
Yo that was 🔥🔥🔥
Magical...
Great 🔥
Very inspiring. Salute from México 🇲🇽
Analog in digital world baby!
Sick
2 KINGS NO Cap What so ever All Praises Due
That tape sounds beautiful damn
I use to have a Tascam 4 track… but i think things didn’t change for me until I got a Roland SP808. I could do DJ mixes, add drops, and effects and view my tracks on a small display. Then I use to track that through a dual deck Sony CD Duplicator which costed like $500 at the time 🤣 now you can do everything with the laptop 💻
That’s what’s up.
Exactly how I started with the 4 track
I started making beats 20 plus years ago with this method. Had a cheap 4 track and a sampler with a cheap tape deck.
Came here for Iman Omari! LETS GO BROTHAAA!!
Dope I Appreciate the Craft fellas. I still use my Studer 24 track and Panasonic dat. for saturation as well as a ton of analogue high end gear. been on protools since the beginning (Digidesign sound designer) I did my 2trk editing.all lo fi sound, incredible. I use the same process with protools hdx. waves plugs etc...
fire
Dope
A proud LIKE !!!
Thank you for saying the rock part most people think its just hip hop but really rock did it before hip hop grabbed it and made and said its mine
Big Ups
Salute
that turned out super sick. i used to have that same tascam.. need to get one of those again
Black Friday will probably be some tape plugin/ lofi emulation... cool...coolll...coolllllll.....
Well, you were kinda right
@@mobthegamer5391 😅
@@mobthegamer5391 Well actually right 😂
That bass line
They way we used to do it. All that was missing was a sampler cuz we ain't have a keyboard I had a Dr. Rythmn. LoL
Make a full searese of lo fi please.
You can tell the difference in their age by the way they bob their heads.....younger vs OG
Was waiting for the incorporation of the MP
Shout out to computers lol, I used to have the same setup that these guys are using , right down to the 4 track but MAN , to be able to put your music on a thumb drive and rearrange midi etc is just so much of a leap ahead of the way we used to make music
get it Foc
Straight up no MP a 49 key Yamaha synth.. Casio keyboard with the pads ... speeding up records wayyyyy past the limit just to get a 3 sec sample.. then two tape decks for four tracking bouncing tapes back and fourth ... then even it out with the live scratching in the chorus for the crisp... 1989” first analog move...and I’m still here
the beat maker absolutely knows how to head bob "right" to this beat
and yeah that's a thing 🤭
This is how i still make my beats no daw just hardware sampler multitrack couple synths couple keyboards...
ayyyyy🔥
I love Iman Omaris beats
🔥❤️🔥🔥
🔥🔥🔥
love how yall MIDI'd the JDXI to the MPC3000 to play the drums on the keys instead of the pads. added another human feel to it all . haha G SHIT
The family and I miss you B ( Focus... )
🔥🔥
Just signed up .
Goes to show. It’s not the gear, it’s the creative mind of the producer
amazing!! To my own taste i wod say too much reverb on the drums making it come off too fluffy but other than that it was awesome! And his synth melody line man played soo good into the beat and sample!
Love Focus disassociating the genre of LoFi from Hip Hop specifically… it’s more about the aesthetic and the process than the style of music. There can be a lofi country or rhythm and blues song just as easily as a lofi hip hop song
i wish this was longer
I was always into TripHop and Lo-Fi to me was always a extension of that
I've fallen in love with analog hiss I used to get rid of as much as I could now if it's there I leave it
Oh my God just a few minutes in and this is amazing! Please more!
This is the first time I’ve ever clicked the bell icon. This is so damn good.
pure pureness,gold,lofi? Bigfi
