I live in Germany and bought Canadian lentils in a Turkish market. We made Dhal and had our Mexican friends over for dinner. That mighty lentil goes a long way.

I've been eating nothing but lentils with rice and spices for the last month. I don't miss any other food.

I wonder if Canadians have developed a culture of lentil dishes, considering the sheer amount of lentils produced. I still don't get many good results searching for "canadian lentil dishes". At least among growers there must be some dishes. You've been growing lentils in Canada for quite a few decades.

Half ton per acre, that doesn't sound like much to a corn farmer I guess. I've noticed they have very different combines for corn, soybeans, and now the lentils. The rolling part out front seems to get smaller and smaller & closer to the ground lentils are pretty small though. good luck guys

Indeed - a flex header is required on the combine when harvesting lentils since lentils are such small/short plants in order to pick up as much of the plant as possible. The flex header floats right along the ground.

Can i buy Canadian lentils in the United States? I'm Canadian and want to support our agriculture

Absolutely - as the world's largest lentil producer, Canadian lentils can be found all over the world. Check packaging to see country of origin/production for your lentils at grocers.

I just planted and got my first sprouts of canadian lentils and I wonder - what protein sources are good combinations with lentils to get 100 in protein value? No online source gives an answer because they just say "lentils are high in protein second to soy" without mentioning that they do not contain all the essential amino acids, which is were the real information lies. Apparent clarity while obscuring the essentials. Good work interneters.

As long as you eat a whole grain in the same day as eating lentils, your body will benefit from the complete protein.

That's actually a Myth, just eat a wide and varried diet. People don't need as much protein as they think, it's more complicated than this but essentially proteins primary job is to help the body maintain a positive nitrogen balance for cellular growth. Your body does a good job of utilizing protien and convertering protiens into what you need when you need it during metabolisation.
In fact too much protien is really harsh on your kidneys and some protiens such as methionine- can increase your cancer risk when consumed too much because they contain sulfer compounds that directly feed cancer cells. In fact its that sulfer that cancer support dogs smell when they are used to screen for cancer.
High fiber from a wide vareiety of whole plant foods is what you should really be focused on, unless your an athlete then you want a higher protien for cellular repair which is how you grow muscles. Even then tho a high anti inflamitory diet rich in antioxidants has been found to improve sports performance more so than high protein diets.
As long as you are maintaining a positive nitrogen balance ( just get blood work done ) protien is really a non issue
