About three days after we finished filming this epic duel, Nissan confirmed it would soon offer a bunch of upgrades on the Patrol Warrior in Australia, including a cool box, bigger central touch-screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, not to mention a wireless phone charger. Can’t wait for the Y63. The new Infinity QX80 looks very good. Much better than the LX600. Engine same family as the GT-R engine (from their own words) which is bombproof but with 15 years of technological advancement. I’m sure they’ve learned a thing or two to improve it even further. The transmission is also the 9-speed from the G-wagon but slightly reworked by JATCO who are licensed to do so by Mercedes. Knowing the Japanese they made it even more durable seeing as the Patrol/QX80 is their halo model.
@@Ezone_X Yes. Also, a huge plus is the boot space. You know, a vital part in an off-road long distance vehicle. If you opt for 7-seater in both the LX600 or QX80 (or, 8-seater; double three-row, which is also a option in the QX80), the QX80 boot is much bigger. And just overall much more luxurious. They absolutely nailed it. The Patrol have also arguably always been the better off-roader than the Landcruiser series. And to top it all off, it´s cheaper.
It would be great for the WARRIOR to have a sales rep in the US to send those mods over for sale and service this side of the pond. Shame the US market on ly has the LX600 but who can afford those nowadays. Great review.
the centre one only locks the front and rear axles for 'off road'. When unlocked, this allows 'on road' 4WD. You have all wheel drive with three open diffs. The Patrol will also have a centre locking differential of sorts as well as its rear locking 'axle' differential.

I mean how many people will buy the GR LC compared to the more regular trims of the LC 300. I'm just curious
Your statements about the Landcruiser and Snowy scheme are incorrect. Land Rovers did the hard work before the Toyota arrived - and it didn't even have low range.
Yes the Land Cruiser did not have low range, and even later when they did have low range it was still not suitable for the mountainous terrain due to its 34 degree side roll over angle compared to the Land Rovers 45, so the construction stage of the build was done by Land Rovers, and the managers drove a couple of Land Cruisers on the paved road.
There are a couple of choices I don’t get with the Patrol. First is the side exit pipes. The may look and sound cool but for an off-road vehicle they are in a terrible spot for damage. Maybe it was dictated by the larger spare wheel and redesigned tow bar? The other thing is that they haven’t upgraded the GVM with the new suspension. As a touring vehicle the payload will be an issue for most. This can be upgraded by changing the suspension and getting it re-engineered but what a lost opportunity not to do this while re-doing the suspension for this model. So for many people, the new Premcar suspension will need to be replaced anyway. And yes, before anyone comments, the GVM comments apply equally to the Landcruiser. It just stands out more for the Nissan because they fitted a post factory suspension upgrade to it but still left this problem in place.
what - not Tank500? Trifecta V8petrol vs V6TD vs 4Hybrid great ground clearance (rear locker) vs good ground clearance (twinlocked) vs mediocre ground clearance (twinlocked) 75k vs 100k+ vs 140k+

I was talking to a chap yesterday who uses his 300 Landcruiser to tow a 3.5 ton caravan and he thought that his old 200 was more stable and a better overall tow vehicle. The 300 was more economical but wasnt dropping back gears under load well. In short it wasnt quite what he expected.
I have no bias when it comes to Toyota v Nissan, I actually love both, the interior of the Toyota is way better in my opinion, plus having front lockers is a bonus. But the extra ground clearance on the Nissan and that V8 sound is just awesome. $45K buys a lot of accessories including front lockers. The lux extras the Toyota has a nice, like the heated/cool seats but they aren’t deal breakers. Both very capable 4x4’s but price difference for me wins in the end.
front locker not needed in the Patrol as the traction control still functions with the rear locker selected. Just different systems, you will get better manoeuvrability with an unlocked front
At almost $50k cheaper, you could add a supercharger plus a aftermarket carplay dash interior to the Y62 and still have plenty left over for more 4x4 mods or funds to compensate the extra fuel it uses for yearssss. Both are excellent 4wd tourers but you definitely get more value with the Patrol
He talks about Patrol burning fuel at an alarming rate but fails to mention that the new Landcruiser new engine has a serious flaw which is an engine oil consumption problem...just look at the 6 month service intervals...

@@craigdavid6668 Very true, because I spent 100K cash on machinery for my workshop, you're welcome to come past and have a look if you like, you might like my lathe!
It´s the Japanese way of doing things. The engine is heavily detuned for reliabilty/abuse and to meet emissions for the future as well as still being more than enough to do the job. There is a strong possibility we´ll see a hybrid LC300/LX600 at some point in the near future as Toyota wants the LX700H denomination to be trademarked, hence downsizing to V6. Ferrari, McLaren etc are all following suit. They have no choice. If Toyota wanted to, they could easily make a V8 that would blow the competition away. They have more money than all the other car manufacturers and alot of history in racing motorsport, rally, dakar endurance, le mans, super gt, gt300, gt500, super formula, formula 1 etc. They had the most powerful V10 engine in Formula 1 with over 1000hp. They are in literally everything. Toyota know what they are doing.
@@lukewarm2075 2. things to point out. 1. These engines were assembled in the USA and not in Japan. The ones in Japan did have these issues and engine recalls as far as I know and Toyota has long ago already started to fix this. Which, again speaks volumes about Toyota 2. The engine we are talking about is the VR35, twin turbo 3.4 or 3.5 if you will, V6. The 3.3 diesel, which the Australian market gets does not have this problem.
Whilst everyone argues over which is best I will just say, if I had the money I would just buy one of each lol. I like them both, they are both cool rigs…let’s just all agree on that yeah 👍

Im a toyota fan, in fact i drive a Hilux and Fortuner, the only downside for me for Toyota LC300 except for the price is the SIZE, its kinda SMALL and cramp interior space vs the old Y62 Patrol, infact the MIDSIZE Ford Everest got longer wheelbase vs the LC300 which is categorize as "Full size/Upper" size SUV. it is small and short to be in full size suv, even in the midsize Toyota Fortuner vs Nissan TERRA, Toyota is always smaller in outer and interior size
They just did a recall in US for 100k cars Toyota, Lexus, tundra they don't have a fix yet but metal shavings were left in the engine during manufacturing I wonder if the Australian engine is the same 😮

You can buy a lot of fuel for 45k
It’s a no brainer
Yep. But bear in mind the Toyota LC300 GR Sport has a lot more equipment though.
@@carsales so it should, the Landcruiser is 45k more expensive.
Y62 all the way
only in Australia the y62 petrol interior is this dated
$99 for roadside on the Nissan. Incorrect. I got roadside with my Nissan up to 6 years.
Ah! Yes, we messed up the GFX - the Nissan is free for 5 years, the Toyota costs $99 per year. Back to front.
I love the GR-S front grille the most !
Yeah, all thats good but that V8 though........🤤🤤🤤
I'd wait for the v6 twin turbo patrol coming up.
Yeah, it could be a weapon.
Patrol all day every day!
Work out the neutral numbers. D vs P
I think the GWM will be taking over the market, it will take a while for the resales to catch up
He talks about Patrol burning fuel at an alarming rate but fails to mention that the new Landcruiser new engine has a serious flaw which is an engine oil consumption problem...just look at the 6 month service intervals...
I’m a Landcruiser tragic (had a Patrol in the past) but I would still have a Patrol for that V8 power. Hey, I’d have either or both if I could!
One day I will own the gr sport
My hq Holden Ute gos anywhere I want it too
Toy-mota "We have set the price at 150k"..... "is it worth that?".... Toy-mota "No, but there are plenty of idiots in Australia that will pay what we tell too, if we can get 90K for a 79 series..."
Don’t be cut up just because you don’t have the cash for one😂
@@craigdavid6668 Very true, because I spent 100K cash on machinery for my workshop, you're welcome to come past and have a look if you like, you might like my lathe!
Waiting for the 1950's comments "But you can't buy petrol in the desert" or "But my diesel will do 1 million km"
Both a great SUV . But personal i will choose the Nissan patrol because it's engine ❤
It's an incredible engine and especially with the bi-modal exhaust and side exit pipes. The roar!
I don’t get your obsession with the V6 in the 300. It’s horribly unrefined compared to a European V6 diesel.
@@GT3.00yeah 100k recall in US metal in engine no fix yet😮
@@lukewarm2075 2. things to point out.
1. These engines were assembled in the USA and not in Japan. The ones in Japan did have these issues and engine recalls as far as I know and Toyota has long ago already started to fix this. Which, again speaks volumes about Toyota
I was thinking of buying one but I don't like those silly doors, think I'll just get a 2004 civic instead
the problem is that NISSAN don't have a diesel engine in this Y62
Why is it a problem? It’s only a problem if you think a 4WD must be a diesel.
Problem is the Toyota doesn’t have the Nissan engine.
neither float my boat, but that V8 sounds sweet.
Not having Apple Car play is a deal breaker in 2024.
It has carplay now
@@scottcovo which one? Im talking about the Patrol as I know my previous gen V8 diesel top spec Landcruiser doesn’t have apple CarPlay.
@@marcusgeorge1825 We've just added an update, pinned it to the top of the comments. Patrols will soon get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with a $3000 price increase.
Which has the most economical engine and saves you money and more technology ?
Haha, have you seen the price tag on these?
@@boc3499, yeah, I wish my Y62 needed servicing every 6 months, and cost 40K more to buy.
$1800 to add Apple car play /Abdroid Auto to existing screen in Nissan....Anyway I bought the Warrior before the V8s are gone for ever...
Pick mine up, in a weeks time. Get them for just over 100k drive away...bargain 🚗
Landcruiser deserves a full tuned GR Landcruiser with 3.4 twin turbo petrol V6 and lightweight body than a GR Sport with the same old 3.3 twin-turbo diesel V6.
Toyota Australia has always said it might offer the petrol in the LandCruiser. That would be pretty epic, no doubt.
Why don’t Australia get the petrol? Always wondered. Google seems to give mixed answers
Im a Toyota fan but got the warrior and its just so much better than the 200 and 300 series landcrusier so glad I made the switch
what is better exactly?
Reliable engine , no DPF , more capable off road and fantastic in the sand , much larger vehicle and very comfortable
@@Seaslayeradventue makes sense. I am regretting not buying it mainly for bigger size. May be next time. But in Russia we can through away the DPF and reprogram the computer :) Diesel is a good option imo, cheaper, higher torque at low RPMs, fire safety
@@Foguete400 yes I like diesel engines also but the modern diesel’s are to problematic and complex the y62 patrol ticks all the boxes for me Reliable, powerful, capable , comfortable, and looks good
but every new vehicle has it flaws at least the patrol is better value for money
Landcruiser service intervals at 6 months!!!!....is that a misprint. Hilarious in this modern age!
See how old is Y62 and not still can competes that new LC but also beats it 😄👌🏽
No doubt, it is the best larg suv today.
Warrior V8 for the win on epic 2 inch lift and plate on the front . never get Toyota because too expensive for a V8
Warrior V8 is a good price for V8 (Toyota $148,000 Nissan $101,000) Nissan is a good price
Yeah imagine that extra 40k can upgrade warrior? Supercharged, lift kit, tuning and off-road tyres
What a beast she'll be
Great demonstration mate, well, is only one problem, the bleeding steering wheels are on the wrong side of the vehicle! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺
The Toyota fuel economy number is a bit generous 🤣 Many tests have shown while towing the Y62 wins the economy test.
24 has wireless and new infotainment. 👍
😊❤😊Nissan patrol warrior excellent for off road 😊❤😊
patrol❤❤❤💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I like Nissan patrol...
Nice video but Nissan petrol vs Toyota petrol is more logical comparison.
Also logical that you compare cars that are available in the market. No petrol LC in Aus mate.
I really hope the cruiser doesn't share the same motor the US toyota tundra has, that motor is having some big problems over there.
They just did a recall in US for 100k cars Toyota, Lexus, tundra they don't have a fix yet but metal shavings were left in the engine during manufacturing I wonder if the Australian engine is the same 😮
@@lukewarm2075 I wonder too
Gotta love that wheel lifting independent suspension (of the Nissan). The biggest show stopper I see off-road (and on RUclips), is CV failure on independent suspension, especially when a diff locker is involved. People are being conned into believing IS is a good thing. Would love to drive the Nissan for a month, but would never buy one.
