About three days after we finished filming this epic duel, Nissan confirmed it would soon offer a bunch of upgrades on the Patrol Warrior in Australia, including a cool box, bigger central touch-screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, not to mention a wireless phone charger. It adds $3000 to the price. Check out the updates here: www.carsales.com.au/editorial/details/2024-nissan-patrol-to-receive-long-awaited-infotainment-upgrade-145362/

These are the same people who moan about the Patrols interior even though it's actually very comfortable and well made, and then claim the 70 series is 'value for money'. Dropping 150k on the LC over 105 for the Y62 is a more money than brain cells decision.

I’ve had my Y62 for 10 years, one of 15 4WDs I’ve owned. Nissan aren’t as well put together as a Toyota. Love the V8 which is why I keep repairing the 62.
Your statements about the Landcruiser and Snowy scheme are incorrect. Land Rovers did the hard work before the Toyota arrived - and it didn't even have low range.
Yes the Land Cruiser did not have low range, and even later when they did have low range it was still not suitable for the mountainous terrain due to its 34 degree side roll over angle compared to the Land Rovers 45, so the construction stage of the build was done by Land Rovers, and the managers drove a couple of Land Cruisers on the paved road.
There are a couple of choices I don’t get with the Patrol. First is the side exit pipes. The may look and sound cool but for an off-road vehicle they are in a terrible spot for damage. Maybe it was dictated by the larger spare wheel and redesigned tow bar? The other thing is that they haven’t upgraded the GVM with the new suspension. As a touring vehicle the payload will be an issue for most. This can be upgraded by changing the suspension and getting it re-engineered but what a lost opportunity not to do this while re-doing the suspension for this model. So for many people, the new Premcar suspension will need to be replaced anyway. And yes, before anyone comments, the GVM comments apply equally to the Landcruiser. It just stands out more for the Nissan because they fitted a post factory suspension upgrade to it but still left this problem in place.

Can’t wait for the Y63. The new Infinity QX80 looks very good. Much better than the LX600. Engine same family as the GT-R engine (from their own words) which is bombproof but with 15 years of technological advancement. I’m sure they’ve learned a thing or two to improve it even further. The transmission is also the 9-speed from the G-wagon but slightly reworked by JATCO who are licensed to do so by Mercedes. Knowing the Japanese they made it even more durable seeing as the Patrol/QX80 is their halo model.
@@Ezone_X Yes. Also, a huge plus is the boot space. You know, a vital part in an off-road long distance vehicle. If you opt for 7-seater in both the LX600 or QX80 (or, 8-seater; double three-row, which is also a option in the QX80), the QX80 boot is much bigger. And just overall much more luxurious. They absolutely nailed it. The Patrol have also arguably always been the better off-roader than the Landcruiser series. And to top it all off, it´s cheaper.
A poor man pays twice. 8.9 v 14.4lts, resale value, after service and parts available, better safety and far far superior tech? The $45k gap is easily closed when added up properly.

@@Investor_philipsWell for starters Nissan crossed The Simpson before Toyota. So there’s that. Sure it wasn’t the Y62 but heritage and all that.
@@jerrymyahzcatI’d call winning the Dakar multiple times in a row heritage. Along with winning Le Mans multiple times in a row heritage. Cool thing Nissan did but what are they doing now!
@@kaidenchetty4572 I wouldn’t call those things winning Dakar or or Le Mans heritage. I’d just call that achievement. Nissan don’t do much let’s be honest. But Toyota aren’t any better.
Patrol is bloody awesome. I don't trust Toyota anymore sorry guy's. Have owned Toyota and Nissan all my life and the Nissan's have proven to be better and safer. Got the TI-L Y62 and absolutely love it and wouldn't pick anything else
Do You use apple by any chance?
Got to agree with you there mate, bought the last of the 4.2 litre Patrols in 2006, did a touch over 1 million kms in it before I sold it, had a 200 series LC and had a turbo fail, transmission problems, cracked chassis just to name a few things, parts and service from Toyota cost me a fortune. They are overpriced and overrated.
@@richarddickinson7788 😱😨
Nissan all day. Bullet proof platform, 25k cheaper and just looks better 👌🏼
Admittedly, interior, mainly the dash couldn’t with an upgrade.. coming apparently…
Yeah 25K cheaper also older and dated, fact but also I agree the LC is a tad expensive.
25k cheaper, try 50k. A GR sport will set you back 150k, the patrol you can get pretty much right on 100k
I will buy the GR SPORT.
I'll buy a Patrol.
Fucken petrol junk
Me too, actually, mines on its way 👍
@@Rossi_21 🤣
Got my TI-L delivered last Sep. Only use it to tow my caravan. Absolutely love it. Pushing 160K onroad cost for the GR Sport. Even after I spent 18k on my mods (180Kg GVM upgrade, airbags, RASLARR front bar, Stedi EVO’s, slimline 100Ah under floor battery, DASH false floor, GME, ARB twin compressor, woodgrain delete, etc, I’m still 40K better off. I have a mate that’s having his GR Sport being built right now, ordered it 19 months ago. I only waited 7 months for my Y62. No brainer for me.
That V8 Nissan Patrol for me.
Agreed, the new generation Y63 could be an absolute pearler. Stay tuned for our tests on that model when it launches!
agreed, and way larger and spacious vs the LX600, got more presence coz of its size
Reliability, Capability- LC
Reliability, Capability, Value, More Luxury- Patrol Y63
Give me a Patrol any day. Toyota overpriced, ugly and comes with nothing...
How is it ugly and how does it come with nothing if it has way more features than the Patrol?
A poor man pays twice. 8.9 v 14.4lts, resale value, after service and parts available, better safety and far far superior tech?
The $45k gap is easily closed when added up properly.
Y62 4H rock mode is all you need . Will go most places with little effort.
Precisely.
Ah the Y62, a tailgaters dream
Just another Patrol promotion video. New one coming soon. wait to see it. don't spent money on old fuel sucker.
In spite of being a Toyota fan, I just can't justify the price difference . And the rumbling V8 is evidently a more pleasant thing to have under a hood. But I am surprised that my old-school opinions and likse are similar to the authors.
How often you change gear on the automatic Land Cruiser that your water bottle comes in between?
I have fallen in love with this review. This is what a car review should be like!
The LC is heaps more expensive but residual will mean difference isn't as large as sticker price. Patrol looks like a monster if fuel isn't a concern.
Yeah, all thats good but that V8 though........🤤🤤🤤
Y62 all the way
One day I will own the gr sport
I like Nissan patrol...
My hq Holden Ute gos anywhere I want it too
patrol❤❤❤💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Landcruiser service intervals at 6 months!!!!....is that a misprint. Hilarious in this modern age!
Both good but 50k saving wow thats huge, think i would go the Nissan.
But would have to try both
I have a Ti Y62 series 5 and the towing capability is incredible.. i tow my camper trailer all over QLD like a kite in the back.. most times i get carried away and i forget I'm towing something.. team Patrol! 💯💪🏾
