- Hey everyone!
In today's video, I am going to give you some suggestions on what to wear to a funeral. Unfortunately, I had to attend a funeral a couple of weeks ago. I was able to piece an outfit together, but I ran into some hiccups along the way. I'll discuss what happened and how I was able to fix the issues I faced. I will also be discussing funeral etiquette in general. I'd like to open the discussion about what is still considered to still be appropriate to wear to such an event. Society as a whole has gotten EXTREMELY casual when it comes to the way we dress. I am absolutely not opposed to this, but what does this mean for formal events? Do we need to adjust our thinking process on this? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section!

Sorry to hear about your loss!
My closet is full with black cloths, so I don‘t have too much of a problem to find something suitable for a funeral.. I agree with the points you mentioned (I would only have one small point to add - and have already a video about it planned - but no idea when I‘ll film it😅): you have to be careful with the pieces you choose/wear, because they might get attached with the memory of the funeral (at least that‘s an experience I made).. and whenever you want to wear them again after that funeral, you might be reminded of it.. and depending on who and how a person passed away, this might be a very hurtful memory 😞
You bring up such a good point! I hadn't thought about that. Definitely something to consider. Also, thank you so much for the kind words ❤!
Do you agree with me or disagree on my thoughts surrounding funeral etiquette?? Let's discuss!
First and foremost, I'm sorry for your loss. I think this is a great video and a topic that isn't talked about much. And I think it seems that when funerals come up, I always have to go on a mad dash to fill in holes in my wardrobe.
Thank you so much for the kind words, Caleb ❤. I'm glad to have opened the discussion on this topic. I definitely learned a lot from this experience and will be better prepared in the future!
People don't talk about this enough!
Yes! I agree completely.
Thanks Lauren, your common sense tips are helpful, and Happy Birthday!
You can extend the usable life of those shoes by having the exaggerated chain detail removed. This will make them much less trend driven and look more like a classic loafer. Have it professionally done- the cobbler will make it look as though this was how they were all along.
I’m sorry for your loss. I do wear in the past a lot of black. So I always had something to wear, if I must going to a funeral. I’m going towards more colors and light colors, especially in the summer, so I’m half black half rainbow in my closet. Some people are not prepared to have appropriate and dark clothes for funerals in the summer. I must go to two funerals in the summer heat in the past. I can recommend a light layer with 3/4 or long arms and a hat, both for sun protection. You are sad enough, you don’t need a heatstroke or sunburn. If it’s really hot, you are probably fine with open shoes, as long they are appropriate. It’s not funny to prepare a funeral look for every season, but your future self would thank you for that 🤔
Thank you for the kind words ❤. Yes, definitely not a fun task to prepare for but it is so necessary!
My uncle passed today and i need funeral clothes for sunday. Thank you for this video. And sorry for your loss.
You're so welcome! Thank you for the kind words.
Thank you so much for this. I am 67 so understand the requirements but when I retired, I gave all of my work clothes to the goodwill. Now I am attending a funeral every month or so it seems so I am having to replace my silk blouses, blazers and dress pants.
I'm so glad you found this to be helpful! Thanks so much for watching 😄
@@laurenromeo have you thought about doing a video on fit and fabric? How the length of a skirt or sleeves can make a big difference, how the addition of a hook or button can help, what kind of fabric is best for a pencil skirt, how shoulders on a blazer should fit, etc. Many young women have no idea that drycleaners do easy alterations like hemming and anything more complicated like shoulder adjustments which need to be done by a tailor or seamstress can really make a garment look great.
@@maxallen-macdonald8791 hi! That's a fantastic idea for a video! I'll definitely have to consider it. Thank you so much for the suggestion ☺️.
Si esta muy frio que sapato
Se pueden llevar botas
Why do people think you have to wear black at funerals. You don't have to. But you can wear colorful clothes. God said we would mourn the death. But you don't have to wear black. Black is depressing. You are already stressed . So wear a color that's not depressing for a funeral. The color depends on the season. Don't let society tell you , you should wear dark clothing for funerals.
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing your perspective. I can totally see why many people choose color over wearing black ❤.
Wait, what? You wore a JUMPSUIT to a FUNERAL???!!!
