If you wear white or light colored pants in the winter in Wisconsin and walk across a wet sidewalk, you can get dark spatters all over your pant legs or hosiery. I think that is where the rule to not wear white in the winter came from here.
Northern Minnesota here... Your right😂.. White fabric ANYTHING (except for the snow itself) is a complete NO NO in slushy tundra areas. But where people live in milder Fall & Winter climates I can see it, I would do it. But alas😕 not my world.

In my opinion adding new & fresh elements to your style after 40, 50 etc is something that can help both in private and in professional life - especially if you happen to work in a profession or place where being up to date is valued a lot. The perfect combination is when you can display experience and strong identity paired with curiosity & some flexibility - I think its very attractive. I love the fact you use your mum as a model
There are no 'rules' for fashion except those designers make. Wear what makes yo happy, don't worry about hat anyone else thinks - especially what designers and stylists think (sorry Ellena). I would never wear a lot of what you show, simply because none of it is MY style. I don't believe in, or follow, trends. Why? So I can worry about who is wearing what? No thank you. It all comes back to - Wear what makes you happy. If you are comfortable and happy in your clothes it shows and your clothes will look good.
Agreed. I will not wear most of her styles. Too me they are not classics (pants dragging on the floor, sweater sleeves past your finger tips) and most outfits look oversized and manly. I only watch the videos for the color combinations, which are awesome. Would like to see videos with classic styles.

Great video! I feel women should dress accordingly to their weight. Most women get heavier as they get older, and sleeveless dresses and mini skirts might not look the best on them. And if someone is blessed with a long swan like neck at 60, wear your hair long. Shorter necks could benefit from shorter hair.

Expensive colors are expensive because most retailers do not carry them. You have to shop a long time to find a dark red that is a maroon color or a dusky green or a dirty peach color. Average stores that cater to middle class populations stick to true colors, not muted or “off center” in any way. You may be able to find those colors but you will search a long time.

And people are right - your Mom looks much younger when she took that gray hay away from her face into ponytail. Traditions don't lie - it's an experience collected by generations of observation

Interesting that Jane Birkin was known for carrying a straw (I would call it wicker) bag year-round. That should be called a Birkin bag, not the iconic leather ultra-expensive one! I’ll keep an eye out for a basket when I’m thrift shopping. Pop in a fabric drawstring bag, and I’ll be channeling Jane B, for pennies. The trendy length, wide-legged pants with heels look like a serious trip hazard! I’m in my 70s so things like that are on my mind. I do wear denim and moto jackets - but my knees have gone flabby & saggy, no miniskirts for me!

I want women to look better and I do believe if you are over 50 and have long hair, make sure it looks well groomed. Having it all stringy and “dry” looking - as we get older this happens. Be aware and oil it for it to appear healthy.
My Grandmother had long hair even when she was old. That thick, white braid looked so beautiful and feminine and even wise. It looked great on her, because she was tall and her face had a round shape, so the long hair didn`t drag her face down. I think long hair can look good on some people when they get older. And some people look better with shorter or layered hair.
Oh my goodness yes! My granny had the most beautiful long wavy white hair. She usually put it up in a chic loose bun but when she brushed it out I was obsessed by how beautiful she looked. There was no dragging her down haha. Her face and whole being was so bright and light. I'm definitely growing my hair for versatility as I get older. I look strange with short hair and I doubt that will change with age :)

In the era of slow fashion and quality clothing, pants were reinforced with trouser hemming tape. Such trousers used to look better, neater and lasted longer.
I would die for your wardrobe! I love what you wear AND how it is styled. First visit to your channel and the "rules" make me laugh. When you start life with few choices, and later have an income where you CAN express yourself, you may feel the "rules" have Never applied to you. That is me. Plus I have always maintained, up to now (60), a youthful figure.

At 64 I LOVE fashion & understand my outward appearance is people’s first impression. I went from daily corporate dressing which I loved to being retired and dressing for comfort. A current hairstyle, good makeup & quality clothing items ( I buy in resale stores) to me are key. Ladies stop buying throw away fashion!!!!

I am 63 and I don't follow most of the rules. I no longer wear mini skirts as I have put on a little weight this year. I have always preferred longer dresses and skirts anyway. They make me feel very feminine.

The thing is to look young without looking like your teenage daughter. There is sort of a caveat to wearing younger looking clothing. Everything you do and wear is so classy and I want to go out and buy that look or go to my closet and find what I have in my own closet. The thing about hemlines on pants is tricky. I honestly believe that everyone needs a course on color theory. If you learn it for clothing, then you can do it for home decoration.

Expensive colors are expensive because most retailers do not carry them. You have to shop a long time to find a dark red that is a maroon color or a dusky green or a dirty peach color. Average stores that cater to middle class populations stick to true colors, not muted or “off center” in any way. You may be able to find those colors but you will search a long time.
Pants dragging on the floor look sloppy. Horrible trend that will be gone soon.

Glad to hear about the straw bag I have a copper straw one same color wood handle copper sequins gives a nice sparkle to brown and copper or camel outfits.
Interesting that Jane Birkin was known for carrying a straw (I would call it wicker) bag year-round. That should be called a Birkin bag, not the iconic leather ultra-expensive one! I’ll keep an eye out for a basket when I’m thrift shopping. Pop in a fabric drawstring bag, and I’ll be channeling Jane B, for pennies.
The trendy length, wide-legged pants with heels look like a serious trip hazard! I’m in my 70s so things like that are on my mind. I do wear denim and moto jackets - but my knees have gone flabby & saggy, no miniskirts for me!

I want women to look better and I do believe if you are over 50 and have long hair, make sure it looks well groomed. Having it all stringy and “dry” looking - as we get older this happens. Be aware and oil it for it to appear healthy.

My Grandmother had long hair even when she was old. That thick, white braid looked so beautiful and feminine and even wise.
It looked great on her, because she was tall and her face had a round shape, so the long hair didn`t drag her face down.
I think long hair can look good on some people when they get older.
And some people look better with shorter or layered hair.
Oh my goodness yes! My granny had the most beautiful long wavy white hair. She usually put it up in a chic loose bun but when she brushed it out I was obsessed by how beautiful she looked. There was no dragging her down haha. Her face and whole being was so bright and light. I'm definitely growing my hair for versatility as I get older. I look strange with short hair and I doubt that will change with age :)

When you start life with few choices, and later have an income where you CAN express yourself, you may feel the "rules" have Never applied to you. That is me. Plus I have always maintained, up to now (60), a youthful figure.

At 64 I LOVE fashion & understand my outward appearance is people’s first impression. I went from daily corporate dressing which I loved to being retired and dressing for comfort. A current hairstyle, good makeup & quality clothing items ( I buy in resale stores) to me are key. Ladies stop buying throw away fashion!!!!

I am 63 and I don't follow most of the rules. I no longer wear mini skirts as I have put on a little weight this year. I have always preferred longer dresses and skirts anyway. They make me feel very feminine.

The thing is to look young without looking like your teenage daughter. There is sort of a caveat to wearing younger looking clothing. Everything you do and wear is so classy and I want to go out and buy that look or go to my closet and find what I have in my own closet. The thing about hemlines on pants is tricky. I honestly believe that everyone needs a course on color theory. If you learn it for clothing, then you can do it for home decoration.
