Not only a killer skater but killer musician... Also - NEW STUDIO!
They said it's temporary but seriously, they gotta get a new studio and get out of Tony's office.
I got a few of his albums and they are so good, Tommy g is the man!
Jason laughing at tony about not getting paid but also just learning new things is killing me 😂😂😂
Learn something new every episode
Same makes this episode my favorite 😂😂😂 I’m laughing just as hard 😂
Hell yeah, Tommy is an absolute legend, not just as a skater but as a really talented musician. Stoked to see him on the show finally.
This series won’t be truly complete until we get Stacy and George. Love you guys keep it up. An hour a week I get to remember my high school years.
I've been waiting for a Stacy one too
I wld say that it wkd be super hard and not possible but they had the elusive legend Rodney mullen on so I am hopeful Stacy wld be down /have the time
I watched Tommy’s part on the chin ramp and realized he absolutely was killing it! I guess when I was a kid and with Cab and hawk and all I just didn’t pay attention or give credit but now I watch it and am like “holy shit, their ‘street’ guy is a vert beast too!”
He was my fav street skater
we the bones brigade army will never ever get tired of listening to how it was in the good ol days, the best days, no internet, no mobile phones, pùre struggle and human contact everywhere and all over. You guys saved lives back in the good ol days. cheers.
I am begging Tony and TG to do a Gleaming the Cube commentary track. Best Patreon content imaginable!
yes!!!
I wld join the paytch if they did that
YES!!!! instant click, Tommy G rules. been lookin forward to this guest since Episode #1
ole buddies out here getting it
Tommy skating sf back in the Powell video days is legendary
BobW, SAME!!!🤙
5:45... Tommy is thinking about the Fairfield swimming pool mini ramp in Western Sydney. I was there. Incredible one person demo. Can't believe he remembers that.
I just said this too👍 didn't see the demo but I loved that spine! The vert ramp was a little sketchy though!
Dya know wheres thats located?
Hope the updated studio looks as cool as this temp set!
That was fun. I think Tommy was just warming up, feel free to let 'em run a little longer.
These interviews and episodes fill in a lot of the stories around these guys that were icons back in the day (and legends now!)
Also good to see Hawk v Wolf chiming in in the comments section. Thanks a ton you guys!
Thank you for getting TG, such a huge part of my life, that Thrasher cover with Tommy Blasting changed everything for me. Love the shirt Jason, Nate is a beast. Thanks boys!!
Bay Area legend Tommy Guerrero 🌉 🙌🏽
Met Tommy at a taco shop in SF about three years ago. Super nice, took the time to let me fan boy over him. His music is my go to chill out music!
Literally one of the most amazing of your sit downs. I know Jason will be crushed to have missed it. Gonz still exudes all the same energy as when I saw him in Westwood NJ in 1985. He saw me trying ollie flips (thats what we called them) on my sims Rocco and came over and said hey man can you land those? Sadly I am still inconsistent on them 40 years later
That was one of the best episodes to date.
We appreciate that!!
@@HawkvsWolf It really was, though. I'm never the guy who's like, "too short, could have been twice as long", but.. Too short, could have been twice as long. Great ep for sure.
I love your podcast to the extreme. Keep doing it. It's top of the line.
They need to make a "the making of animal chin" documentary! I'm totally in!
Tony’s Stacy impression has me dead
Dude its so spot on. I wonder if they can get him on, that would be epic
Tommy G, probably the most OGst dude of the brigade.
These stories are legend. Really appreciate you Tony paying for us to hear them. :)
NO FUCK IN WAY ITS HOLMES!!!🤙 Thank you, so much, for this one guys! I can't wait to watch!!!!
🙏💙☀️💙🙏 -much love!!
Can't wait to see it Thanks guys
I’m pretty sure the blue spine ramp that Tommy mentioned was the mini ramp at Fairfield Sydney. There was also a vert ramp that went over vert. It was Nutz!
Ah I was wondering. I thought it may have been nudgee in Brisbane. But I swear it was green not blue.
Is it next to the train line? Pretty sure used to see it as a kid
I had the pleasure of meeting Tommy at Forest Town in Mansfield in the early 90’s. This was during my obsession with Animal chin 😊 Favourite era of my life! Good to see him looking so well 👍
I used to ride a Guerrero II mini. I used to imitate Tommy's board slide style. Longest, smoothest slides and grinds back in the day.
He used to rip down those big hills sliding to slow down a little. Loved those.
tommy a living legend ......
When I saw this on my page last night my food almost fell out of my mouth from how slaxk-jawed I was, new studio and a new kickass guest! Hawkwolf is a gift!
Spine mini under cover pretty sure was Fairfield, anywho loved the chat lads.....
yep, that's what I thought. Fairfield mini at the aquatic centre.
My first thought too! Loved that ramp!🤘
A place of SOS legend's
The best clip ever is tommy in the SFAC video! when you guys are flying off a launch ramp on some sidewalk! Just sick as shit. Plus the street skating olling over bushes! I need a reissue flaming dagger! IM SO HAPPY I CAN HERE ALL THESE GUYS SPEAK!
New set and cameras look great! Another awesome episode!
Hearing the inside stories about how the industry works, how riders get paid, etc is always something I wondered. I’m glad Wolf asks these types of questions all the time.
sweet!!! TG also has badass tunes on spotify!! 🤙🏽
Great interview with Tommy, but for what my opinion is worth, I think it works best with the guests sitting between Tony and Jason.
Yes sir, we need Gonz now or Natas
Yes, Tommy Guerrero Rules!!!!! (Happy Halloween Also)
What great times! Thanks for sharing. I had the Tommy Guerrero Iron Gate board, one of the best boards I've owned in my life! Love you guys!
Yapple dapple! The OG street legend. Cant wait to watch this today.
Sweet new studio for a killer guest...love these episodes showcasing the early days. Thanks Tommy G!
Great show. Not sure who set up the sound board this time, but thank you for raising the master volume! The last few shows were kinda quiet, but this one was loud and clear 😃
Ohh. Man. That silver deck behind Jason brings back so many memories. I remember building that set up in ccs and having to wait till Christmas morning to see if I got it
the little stuff that comes out when you mash bonesbrigade people together. great stuff.
I've enjoyed all the BB conversations, but this one had a little extra mojo! The connection between Tommy and Tony really came through. Great work Hawk v. Wolf team.
I had a Guerrero mini board that changed everything for street skating. That was a crazy transition back then
The barber at Paco’s barber shop in La Canada or Montrose used to tell my friends his son was Tommy Guerrero but I never believed it.
Fuck yes! I needed this right now!
So, I've been told that skaters hated the movie Gleaming The Cube, but I skated and I LOVED it! I rewatched it here a few mo ths back. I'd love a Tony Hawk replay review lol
LOL. By the time Tony said to go watch Police Academy 4 (which I've seen), I was already downloading it to watch later.
woot tommy! was my freaking hero as a young grom!
Double OG. I had a flaming sword deck that I got at Skates on Haight during vacation. Best board at the time. Then I find your music. Good stuff man.
We need a complete Animal Chin reunion, to tell the whole story at the same time. Tony, Tommy, Cab, Mike and Lance. Ellis will be the moderator.
Great episode! So many memorable stories! Love Tommy G even though I’m more of a vert old school sk-8 er
Dope interview.
What an amazing conversation!
Great interview. Love hearing all the behind-the-scenes stories.
Amazing skater. And even more amazing musician. His music is built for a long drive to Vegas through the desert.
Listening to Tommy G talk about not really getting the new paradigm of video pros around the time Real started got me thinking how Stacey Peralta was truly a visionary because Tommy Guerrero's old Powell-Peralta video parts are so iconic even to my generation of the 2000's and up until today, no doubt, where a lot of great pros from his day have been virtually forgotten by later generations who never saw the old magazines or demos or contests. It's like skating in the 80's skateboarding was all about the here and now- here being California- not really considering two years from now or the kids out in in Bumfuk, Nowhere like myself who weren't ever going to get to see a demo or contest but devoured videos. I used to rent Animal Chin from a comic book store in the early 2000's and idolized Tommy G. and the Bones Brigade, even though I only started skating in 2000; it's only thanks to the videos that I knew anything aside from what I read in magazines and what few old pics they put in them. The videos made it seem all so immediate, and i felt connected to the culture even though i was a million miles away.
Great show! One of the best yet! Tommy, come to Providence, RI.🙏🙏🙏
Come on, Gleaming the Cube is a classic! Especially if you grew up in OC.
@35:30 - I'll trust Tommy's pronunciation of "Thiebaud" .. we used to call him 'thee-oh-bod" .
Fairfiled mini ramp, at the aquatic centre. Only covered mini (in Australia) with a spine in those days.
His song in American Wasteland on PS2 was my favorite back in the day. Ledgend
Love the show. You two are the best pair for this. Also you get yhe best guests. Thank you. 🙌❤
Tony's office is the best lo-fi might see someone skating in the background set. Less is more.
I'd pay Tommy $76 for an original check for $0.76 worth of Gleaming the Cube royalties. Talk about a collector's item!!!
An episode with Stacy would be cool, but with Christmas coming up, I think it should be a tradition to have Rodney back!
Big in Japan,, love the Tom Waits call from Tony! Great stuff, Happy Days all!
What about Ray "Bones" Rodriguez? Need that interview too
Holy crap... that was epic.
I grew up with you guys skating in the 80's...
My band played a show with him and his brother’s band ALA in Santa Cruz back in the 80’s. The Circle Jerks headlined and both Tommy and I were super young at that time. Great memories of Nor-Cal Punk and skating.
Excellent episode, really love the insights these guys bring, & it's always worth a listen.
Covered mini was Fairfield in Sydney
new setup looks rad asf, yall are killin it
This show always delivers
excited for this.
How did y'all not get paid for that skating that death contraption that was the chin ramp??? Jason's reaction killed me 😂😂
Tommy g's music is so good!
I didn't realize how good Tommy was until I saw some footage from the 90s....
Wooooo new studio! Looks comfy!
I love gleaming the cube!
Hello hello from Des Moines Iowa
Fairfield skatepark Sydney Aus…🤞 next to the very ramp and swimming pools. Gnarly kick flip backside air. Got so hyped I missed the rest and went off and tackled the vert ramp alone. A street skater but to hyped to just watch
"It's not going to be good and not going to be happen frequently"..
Story of my life....
Spent 6 years stationed in Japan...
"Beer-u Kudasi" is all I got.👍
Holy schneekies!!! Didn't expect this. Trick or treat or both. TG 😜
Cant wait to see the new studio and what episodes are coming in the future. I love this show.
The mini ramp with the spine, under a roof was at Fairfield in NSW.
Jason nailed it @31:11. I took most of my mini ramp tricks and 'relearned' them on a 10 foot vert ramp,. Then11 foot ramps became the norm for years which I could still hang, but as soon as 12 and 13 ft. became the norm, I was like, damn, this is like a whole nother thing. I hate to admit I never adapted, but to my credit, we never had a local vert ramp growing up, it was always going out of town/ a special occasion to ride one.
I have future primitive on in the background and hes got the same shoes on.. LOL
You got to get Stacy to come do this...
I had a Guerrero board. Red one with the flaming dagger. Rad.
Torquay got the mini spine…steel. Tony did the transfer from the vert ramp!
Awesome show guys!
I reckon the "covered spine" Tommy mentioned was Fairfield aquatic Centre in Sydney! I loved it, the few times I got to ride it!
Should get Chris Edwards on the show! He's an OG GOAT blader that you guys probably did demos with, and one of many 40+yr olds (including me) getting back on the blades! Ellis needs to practice his "skating is no hate now" thing😅
Sounds like Fairfield I skated there. The metal vert ramp was where I learnt vert 101
@@kelrobins7476 I think the vert ramp was a bit rough when I was there. I seem to remember it had a short flat too🤔 Under cover section was RAD though 🤘I learnt on Kierle Park and Allambie Aquatic Centre vert ramps........... great days!
yay Tommy G!.. now get Welinder in there!
I've only ever known Tommy for his music and thought of him as a niche not that well known kind of guy, well colour me surprised when I've discovered this episode.
All of those guys should have made a fortune off of the Bones Brigade videos. Crazy 😮
Stacy definitely made a fortune off those. But at the same time it was free promo on a huge scale for the 80’s/90’s.
Fuck yes! I never comment before the video starts but for Tommy I will! Stoked! Now to the video...
I'm surprised that Stacey shafted them on the BB vids!
I know he was on SC and not a vert guy- but it would be cool if you could get Natas on
I think I remember Tony and Ray Barbee having recorded at The Hangar - a studio I lived in and worked at for a bit, in Sacramento. I know Ray bought an old Allen and Heath console from there. Both great musicians. I wonder what their relation to each other was - is?
Dear Skate geek. This is the episode you could spit your coffee laughing over.
