A vegan diet only requires a B12 supplement.. however many people eating meat can also be deficient in B12 if someone’s diet is poorly managed. Also animals are often fed B12 in their food as many spend most of the time inside and do not therefore receive B12 from the bacteria in soils .. so all vegans are doing are cutting out the middleman which is the animal…

Biologists classify humans as omnivores based on observed behavior of the majority. They make no claims about needed meat dairy and eggs, only that we can digest them. Humans can also digest human flesh. That doesn't mean that we should eat it or any other meat. Actually the majority of humans can not properly digest dairy past weening. Eggs are the densest source of dietary cholesterol of all.

Cows are also able to digest meat. Does that make them omnivores? Of course not. We are apes, and like all apes, our diet should be plant based maybe mixed with some grubs. Only a very small percentage of chimps eat meat on occasion, that's it. Our physiology never evolved to eating meat for optimal health. One obvious fact is our metabolism functions best on glucose (see Krebs cycle). We need a lot of carbohydrates to produce energy in our mitochondria. The water wouldn't be needed to feed the animals if they were on the land instead of in those bloody cages and boxes. It's the feed that costs so much in water not the animals. If you can graze them they don't need the feed.
There is not sufficient grazing lands to sustain animal grown for food, period. And there are so many wild animal casualties by ranchers (wolves, coyotes, any predators, really!). why? not for health for sure. the healthiest and longest lived large populations eat the most animal products (Japan and Hong Kong). for environment, all methods need to change from mono cropping for vegan's beloved soy oil for their junk food to cattle factory farming practices. surely it's not beyond the wit of man to introduce better farming practices. for example we are seeing farms that are sustaining 2 or more times cows as factory farms for the same or less area. and they are zero or net negative c02. put money into this kind of this on a large scale and we'll get to a more sustainable food culture. veganism is a distraction.

Thank you for such an entertaining and educational talk ❤❤❤ what a true game changer you are, Dr. Zoe!

And comment of the year goes to...
Are you saying people keep sheep and cattle indoors so they don't get B12? By the way, you can't get k2 from a vegan diet or D3 but I don't think they're they only things you're missing. If you're a vegan, you'll find out soon enough. Most vegan doctors have either died off or crawled out of sight now, knowing they were wrong.
You said the whole lot. You put it all in one bucket. I've been trying to tell vegans this for years but thier eyes and ears are closed. I'll refer this film to them, maybe they'll listen to you. Thank you very much.
Veganism is not about the diet. And this video seems misguided on purpose to make people believe a specific thing.
@@Azarilh And what is that specific thing? Veganism is going to destroy the planet, kill the animals off and that is eventually going to kill the plants as well.
@@Azarilh Of course veganism is about the diet. Women think they're saving the planet as well when in fact they're doing it more damage. Only vegans can kill off the animals. It's the way the world is eating now that's locking the animals away instead of putting them in pasture. Eating flour and corn and soy is far worse.

What part of a tortilla is not a processed food?
Flax has Omega 3. I am a 2 year vegan, 13 year previous vegetarian… I run marathons/half marathons at 56 years old. People think I am 40 years old. I GAINED muscle when I switched to a vegan diet from a vegetarian diet ( with weight lifting included).
I've had the same experience. I was a 'healthy' omnivore and my bloodwork drastically improved in 8 weeks following a change to WFPB. I always exercised but everything became so much easier as I was leaving animal products behind. My total cholesterol dropped from 235 to 180 in 8 weeks (I did before and after blood work just to see for myself), blood pressure came down from 130/90 to 105/60. My naturopath, who does not promote a WFPD said she had never seen anything like it. Cardio exercise is now much easier at 57 than in my 30s and 40s. Strength training is also much easier - without protein powders ;-) . People in my strength training group who are 20 years younger are asking me what I do and that I'm now their goal (I think that's hilarious). Yes, there is always a limit set by genetics, especially our mitochondria capacity so not everyone will (can) win the marathon on this lifestyle but I honestly can say I would never be able to exercise at the level I do now if it wasn't for this diet change.

That Star Trek uniform is lit, where can I get one? By the way, I agree people are omnivores.

@@someguy2135 science please......
The lipid metabolism is not the body's preferred metabolic pathway. The human body always wants to use glucose first, lipids second, and proteins last. Proteins are building blocks, not energy fuel.

The water wouldn't be needed to feed the animals if they were on the land instead of in those bloody cages and boxes. It's the feed that costs so much in water not the animals. If you can graze them they don't need the feed.

She makes a very good point that "plant-based" could include a broad range of diets, so for Game Changers to imply that veganism is the healthiest option is disingenuous. She is quite methodical in her presentation, she goes step-by-step through the film's logic and rebuts them one-by-one. And just because she didn't say it in this video doesn't mean there isn't plenty of research to support what she is saying. You CAN eat a vegan or vegetarian diet and be healthy, but it is MUCH more difficult to eat the appropriate nutrients in the appropriate amounts, so her point about supplementing is fairly accurate. Animal proteins are more efficient, especially for athletes. Someone wants to be vegan or vegetarian? Be my guest. I don't dissuade anyone from doing it. I've provided the sources and if you don't want to review, cool, no one is forcing you.
@@sureshot1109 She has a PhD in public health nutrition, and she goes through the claims of the documentary and talks about why many of them are not supported by overall evidence. The entire point of this is that Game Changers is mostly poor science backed by someone who has a conflict of interest. First of all, they don't use the term vegan because it would be incorrect to do so. They are talking about how a plant based diet can improve your health and therefore improve athletic ability. There are aggressive, unfriendly people in the world and some of them are vegans but vegansim is not a diet so please put forth a little effort so you're not spreading false information. Veganism is a lifestyle that relies on a plant based diet. A vegan eats a plant based diet but someone who eats a plant based diet isn't necessarily a vegan. Did you even watch the video, Zoe talked about many things in your OP.
Veganism isn't sustainable for one big reason, it destroys top soils faster than it can ever replace them. Your mono crops are destroying the planet.
Not just animal agriculture, which you conveniently always box into FF.
And no, most of those monocrops are not fed to animals, they are used for oils, and grain, the rest is fed to feedlot animals because ruminants are legends, they can eat inedible foods that in turn can feed humans.
This is part of the cycle of life, the thing that vegans magically think they can divorce themselves from.
I disagree with the statement that a diet requiring supplements is not healthy and I believe that it makes sense to not buy any mass-produced meat, eggs, fish and milk. However I'm unsure about the necessity of Retinol and Heme Iron. The current meat consumption is not is not sustainable, nevertheless not everyone should go vegan, rather it is important to reduce total consumption of animal products by a substantial amount
why? not for health for sure. the healthiest and longest lived large populations eat the most animal products (Japan and Hong Kong). for environment, all methods need to change from mono cropping for vegan's beloved soy oil for their junk food to cattle factory farming practices. surely it's not beyond the wit of man to introduce better farming practices. for example we are seeing farms that are sustaining 2 or more times cows as factory farms for the same or less area. and they are zero or net negative c02. put money into this kind of this on a large scale and we'll get to a more sustainable food culture. veganism is a distraction.

1. The important take away from the study is how little meat was eaten by the 7th-day Adventists that was significant and important for quotation. Not whether the paper used vegetarian correctly. The studies are relevant.
2. Yes, carbohydrates fatten you up. If you eat too many, because excess calories fatten you up. Which is actually easier to do with fat as it is more calorie dense than protein or carbs. Meat triggers higher IGF-1 and contributes to insulin resistance. Both which contribute to weight gain...
I didn't watch any further in the video after that.

Did you do any research?
I'm sorry, I was watching your video because someone mentioned you but this is a waste of time, it's just one falsehood after another and it's already exhausting trying to keep up with all your misinformation. I didn't come here to debunk you as many already have. Good luck
Nothing you said contradicts what she said, though?
(Also, watching TV isn't really doing research. TV programs are entertainment. They're under no obligation to be accurate. When you go to attack someone for not researching a topic, it looks better if you have.)
@@itzakpoelzig330 To whom are you responding because your comments appears as though you are responding to yourself? My response is that I became vegetarian over 30 years ago when I was 15 and then later, I became vegan but during all this time, I have kept up to date with all the information relating to a plant based diet vs an animal based diet. To assume that the extent of my research relies upon watching tv is a gross misconception on your part. You don't know who I am or what kind of research I've done but it just occurred to me that you are trolling and trying to upset me, otherwise, your comments would have had more to offer than just what could be said to upset me.. lol, Your account here is void of any info and it's not that old.
@@joannietrotter2344 It was just the first search result but feel free to look it up yourself. If you want to get support, argue that what people want is what is good for them, that was an easy one. And you don't just become vegan and then stop. Vegan is a way of life and you don't just quit unless you have also lost all love for animals. If Game Changers was about the love of animals, they would refer to veganism but it's about health so they call it plant based. All vegans eat plant based but not everyone who eats plant based is vegan.
@@joannietrotter2344 Actually, I just read a lot about her and I no longer feel the need to correct anything she says because she is well known for promoting information that can't be scientifically proven and she denies the climate problem, she denies that cholesterol is unhealthy, and a multitude of other things makes her totally unreliable so never mind, I'm done.
She's trying hard to justify the killing of animals. 🙈
By the way, you can still keep cows, sheep, goats, pigs and chicken as pets or to rejuvenate topsoil. Just don't murder them. ♥️🌱🖖
Not exactly. There is indeed nothing harder than science, but her focus is advocating for your brain and health. I understand it may be difficult to understand depending on one eats.
@@mello.b3373 wow, vegan bullshit bingo in full effect 😆 you say it doesn't make a difference if you kill animals or plants: you are fooling yourself. Of course it makes a difference. Give a child an apple and a bunny. What do you think it will eat and with what will it cuddle and play? You know the answer. It's a learned behaviour to kill animals and it had its purpose but not anymore. Evolution, baby!
If you're concerned about the wellbeing of plants, that would be another good reason not to eat animals because we feed them with guess what: plants.
Your reality is just a concept that you don't want to get out of, so you defend it, I get it. I'm vegan for a couple of years now and I'm lacking nothing at all, in contrary, I'm thriving on this plant based wholefood diet. Harming as little other animals as possible and yes, other animals eat animals but I have the choice and my choice is to be compassionate. This probably triggers your emotionally and you have to justify your behaviour.
Try vegan for 21 days, I challenge you. Only good things will happen to you, I promise 😘
Your whole worldview is a lie. I dare you to search for wild hog hunters. Farmers all over the world hire them to "murder" hogs to protect your precious plants. Theres videos where they literally lure them into cages to blow them up.
@@angryahole what has that to do with if I want to eat animals or not? Right, nothing. In other areas of the world, where they have problems with overpopulation of certain animals, they feed them bait with anti baby pills. Also a way of dealing with that "problem".
I know that harvesting plant based food will also kill some animals but never intentionally and never in that scale as the mass production does.
@@Gee-Jay
Fixed because that's how it is. Plant agriculture kills animals and that death goes wasted and is totally indiscriminate. For every acre 10s if not 100s of thousands of creatures are killed each year either directly or indirectly and then you pretend it has nothing to do with you. Animal agriculture kills only the animals intended for consumption.
I feel like the overall takeaways should be. You don’t have to cut meat out entirely, but you should definitely eat A LOT LESS MEAT. Most people in general eat too much meat in my opinion and should eat more veggies no matter what their “diet” is
www.diagnosisdiet.com/meat-and-cancer/
Wrong takeaway.
Well, your opinion is idiotic.
I heard "It's more nutrient dense and therefore more efficient to eat meat". They spend their entire lives eating plants, of course their bodies have taken in those nutrients.
I don't think industrial farming is good either, and we should switch to local farming where possible - this would result in fewer (if any) deaths of the field mice or bunnies when harvesting and better the economy of plant-based foods that are in high demand
You do indeed have to eat more vegetables to get the same amount of calories, big deal!
The animals get high amounts of B12 from the soil they ingest along with the plants.
We wash soil from the plants we eat because we live in a "clean" society and don't get enough B12 because of that. Eat dirt if you want, most people would tell you to take a B12 supplement. Eating animals isn't the right answer though. Nice video though!
They get a lot of nutrition from plants since their stomach / gut supports such lifestyle, humans' doesn't (we have neither the "multiple stomachs" nor the long gut required).

She changed after the research in nutrition showed her a better way to eat. I started having medical issues eating vegetarian. Adding meat and liver took care of my issues.
@@bitemeqwertyuiop5691 Oh come on! Let's debate about the issue.
@@dort5436 What you said would make sense if there were only one way to eat vegetarian (or vegan.) A meat based diet has it's own challenges and drawbacks. Vegans have lower rates of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and multiple types of cancer.
A healthy Fat based diet with a little quality meats, and above ground vegetables. 70% fat.
Ok but my question would be: so what?
Animals don't deserve to be exploited like slaves and sluaghtered just so you can eat a sandwich.
Is eating animal flesh healthy? Unhealthy? It doesn't matter. It's the animal's life that matter. And you take it away forever when you consume animal products.

As a Vegetarian I did not enjoy your talk... I am a tolerant person and would not want to "convert" anybody to stop eating meat , so it is really strange to me that somebody , like Zoe ridicules other diets which are not her own ...for me this is lack of self confidence ... if you are so sure you are eating the right thing ,be happy! And let others , who want to live without animal flesh also be happy ! I am 65, never had any deficiency of nutrients and happy ...also happy with my diet .... I wish you the same!

@@kasardevi8 2/3 of the world’s population is also metabolically diseased. Very high levels of visceral fat, Type 2 diabetes, low average life expectancy, etc etc. Look at the study of the Maasai vs the Kikuyu tribes in Kenya. Almost exclusively meat eaters vs almost exclusively plant eaters. They interbred and lived nearby, so their genetics were similar. The meat eating tribe were on average 6 inches taller, 20 pounds heavier, and had stronger grip strength than the plant eating tribe. The meat eating tribe also had beautiful straight white teeth compared to the plant eating tribe with crooked teeth and dental caries.
And let’s talk about agriculture. Plant-based agriculture is destroying the soil and the planet. It’s stripping the land bare and destroying the habitats of millions of animals; it’s also killing millions and millions of animals directly. Regenerative animal agriculture on the other hand restores the soil naturally and is a beautiful cycle of life that gives animals meaning, purpose, and a beautiful worry-free life. It utilizes rocky land that could never be used for plant agriculture.
