This film was a 'payoff' to Lesley to continue to keep her mouth shut. Whatever she knows about Harvey and his victims she likely knows about a LOT more predators and their victims in tinsel town.

As the Jedi approach, have the smiling Jedi's head snap to one side, his hand raise, and an explosive device (not a thermal detonator, there are other kinds of explosives in Star Wars) is caught with the Force midair. He then franticly looks for someplace to put it, finding a garbage truck flying not far away. He throws the device into the truck, where it explodes, startling the driver, but otherwise harmlessly. The other master and the apprentice run through the crowd toward the assailant and a few cohorts. Without lightsabers, they subdue these extremists, taking them from the crowd and giving them over to the police. While the extremists are being arrested, have both sides of the protest glaring with hate at the extremists. Then, the smiling Jedi walks up to the celebrity, bows and says "With that interruption out of the way, are you prepared to continue with your speech?" The celebrity smiles warmly, maybe even hugs the Jedi, then returns to bringing a peaceful end to the protest. Later, as a fun continuity scene, have the smiling Jedi talking to some blue collar worker in the temple, saying how he's so glad that the man reached out and he was sorry for the trouble and stress he caused the worker, and that he'd be willing to give some compensation if he felt it fair. The worker, implied to be the garbage truck driver, laughs and shakes the Jedi's hand, saying it won't be necessary. No damage was done to the truck, plus he's a fan of that celebrity the Jedi was protecting too. "Couldn't think of how boring ma route would be without her voice keepin' me wake. Ya did wha' ya shoulda did, an I'm grateful. Just need ya ta verify what happened ta my boss. Needin' ta take a detour after the pop in the back an all." THIS is what I want to see. I want to see the Jedi in a PEACEKEEPING roll again. Wise and understanding. Even watching people scream and fling insults at each other, they have the insight and experience to be able to draw the line between passionate people debating topics and hateful destruction. Hell. Just a "buddy cop" show between a Jedi and his apprentice would be awesome. No galaxy wide stakes. No Sith invasions. Hell, maybe almost no lightsabers, as most of the conflicts they deal with on a day to day wouldn't be life or death. Just Jedi being the good guys would be grand.

Then I want the apprentice to notice the master's smile. "What are you smiling at? This is sick. Watching these safe, fed people scream and throw tantrums while conflicts rage elsewhere. Where we SHOULD be. They're even arguing for the same thing, by the Force!"
The master's smile turns a little sad, turning to the apprentice. "It's true. These people don't have the hardships others have on other planets. They likely can't even fathom living as others do on planets like Corlia, Sekios 3, or Tatooine. However, just because there are worse places elsewhere does not mean there aren't problems here. And, however misguided this attempt is, these people, all of them, have shown up to try to fix something. They're hearts are in the right place. Their minds just need a focusing point. A leader."
The apprentice scowls. "Shouldn't that be our job then?"
The master shakes his head slowly. "It is not our place to get involved in shaping people's opinions. Only to advise and to protect them as they do. If we began to lead these people, we would no longer be impartial. We would simply be politicians. Which, we could do, YOU could do if you feel that is what is right. But that path is incompatible with a Jedi's purpose."
The apprentice thinks hard, debating going down there and doing what he can to help. He takes a step forward.
The other master speaks. "Patience, young one. It is not a decision to be made in haste." Then gestures above as a skycar flies overhead. "Besides. This lot has a leader already. She is just running late. Come. I fear we will likely be needed."
Continue the scene with an alien woman stepping out and both sides recognizing her with respect. Turns out she's a celebrity singer of some kind, but one both sides largely listen to and respect. She has graciously come to help this debate come to a conclusion. As the Jedi approach, have the smiling Jedi's head snap to one side, his hand raise, and an explosive device (not a thermal detonator, there are other kinds of explosives in Star Wars) is caught with the Force midair. He then franticly looks for someplace to put it, finding a garbage truck flying not far away. He throws the device into the truck, where it explodes, startling the driver, but otherwise harmlessly. The other master and the apprentice run through the crowd toward the assailant and a few cohorts. Without lightsabers, they subdue these extremists, taking them from the crowd and giving them over to the police. While the extremists are being arrested, have both sides of the protest glaring with hate at the extremists.
Then, the smiling Jedi walks up to the celebrity, bows and says "With that interruption out of the way, are you prepared to continue with your speech?"
The celebrity smiles warmly, maybe even hugs the Jedi, then returns to bringing a peaceful end to the protest.
Later, as a fun continuity scene, have the smiling Jedi talking to some blue collar worker in the temple, saying how he's so glad that the man reached out and he was sorry for the trouble and stress he caused the worker, and that he'd be willing to give some compensation if he felt it fair. The worker, implied to be the garbage truck driver, laughs and shakes the Jedi's hand, saying it won't be necessary. No damage was done to the truck, plus he's a fan of that celebrity the Jedi was protecting too. "Couldn't think of how boring ma route would be without her voice keepin' me wake. Ya did wha' ya shoulda did, an I'm grateful. Just need ya ta verify what happened ta my boss. Needin' ta take a detour after the pop in the back an all."
THIS is what I want to see. I want to see the Jedi in a PEACEKEEPING roll again. Wise and understanding. Even watching people scream and fling insults at each other, they have the insight and experience to be able to draw the line between passionate people debating topics and hateful destruction. Hell. Just a "buddy cop" show between a Jedi and his apprentice would be awesome. No galaxy wide stakes. No Sith invasions. Hell, maybe almost no lightsabers, as most of the conflicts they deal with on a day to day wouldn't be life or death. Just Jedi being the good guys would be grand.

For years fans told Disney that they didn't understand Star Wars. They responded by thinking that Star Wars needs to be gaaaaay! That's more out of touch then the old dude that asks that young people at the bus stop where the cool parties are this weekend. When I was a teenager they had cops come to school to try to talk to us about drugs and trying to talk like us. Disney Star Wars is MORE uncomfortable than that.
I guarantee you that Disney will be THE LAST company to get away from D-E-I.
