    How do you direct mount these? Did you drill out the tabs of the pickups? Also, Fishmans and EMGs seem to have different pickup dimensions (for instance the distance between the mounting holes). Were there any problems with that when swapping the EMGs for the Fishmans?

      Strange... sounds like you probably had a defective pup set (on either brand) because I've swapped A LOT of them in all 6, 7 and 8 string configurations and their sizes all match. What I did find on one of the EMG sets is that the tabs were a bit too "large" and I had to sand them, but the screw holes still lined up perfectly.

      @@SergioChongLoo I was actually just refering to the documentation of the pickups, I didn't compare the pickup dimensions myself. I should have mentioned that. According to the documentation the difference are mostly very small, only 1 or 2 mm for most pickups. But apparently you never ran into any issues when swapping pickups because of that?
      And I was asking about the tabs because of the threaded inserts EMGs and Fishmans have in the mounting holes, which are meant for pickup height adjustment on a pickup ring or pickguard. Do you drill those out before direct mounting the pickups?

    thanks for a comparison I liked both actually)can i please have your advice for buying my first active pickups - fishman or emg? i tend to stick to emg cause they’re cheaper, classic and i’ll have less variables in my guitar)

      @naomichong Год назад

      It's very subjective. At least for me it's important to narrow down the style of music and what gear (guitar/amp mostly) you'd be running through. Also how versatile you want your pickups to be.

      @@naomichong my top 3 are ozzy, slipknot and korn,
      guitar - I was thinking to install into gibson les paul studio, but then I ordered harley benton singlecut SC-1000 WH with active pickups so it will be easier to install actives in there and not to mess up with the studio
      usuaully I run this through Ampero One processor (with 6505 emulation) > focusrite 2i2 > presonus Eris 3.5 monitors or ATH50x headphones
      I was thinking to order zakk wylde EMG set as I like his sound very much and then I found out this pickups that seems to have much more versatility (not sure if I need it now though)

      Yes Abasis vs Moderns is a night/day difference, I also took out the moderns out of another guitar, didn’t gel with them

      @@brownsparlour9813 oh Absolutely, EMGs are my go to's in general... however in this particular axe the Tosins sounded a bit better.

    Emg parece ter um “presence” um agudo bem por la de 5hz
    O fishman parece tem um certo corte nessa região que me agrada mais

      Si, en este caso la Fishman me agradó mas también. En general prefiero EMG pero la Serie X no me ha gustado mucho.

    As usual, great video. If I’m not mistaken; you’re an EMG guy. Did you prefer the EMG’s? They both sound great

    • @SergioChongLoo

      Hey thanks!! In general you could say yes I'm an EMG player, but in this case the Tosins sounded better, I think it's this particular guitar... the EMG's sounded a bit hollow but it was more of a feel than a sound since they still came thru great in the mix.
