    After extensive messing around, I've come to discover that my bridge and mid positions are switched. Big oops. This essentially makes half of the video invalid, but I'll be leaving it up for reference anyways.

      Did these pickups just drop right in then you. Soldered them? Did you have to modify the cavity at all?
      I have this same guitar and I want to do something like this to it.

    • @GabeValdezBigSmack
      @GabeValdezBigSmack  4 месяца назад

      The cavity had to be dremeled a little, just a few millimeters

      Yep, still installed, and the guitar is constantly used for live and recording. I just got used to the wiring haha

    To be honest, I expected More tonal difference between the 2 pick-ups. I thought they Both sounded fine and quite usable. I really can't say that I liked the Abasi pick-ups better. It all comes down to taste, I guess!!! Merry Christmas, & Happy New Year Bro, Thx for posting This!!!

      I agree, I expected the Abasi's to be a little more full, but I feel they make up for it with how articulate they are.

    Stock seem to sound more natural and have that nice dynamics, especially when you played bridge clean, it sounds so much better then Abasi pickups, also more crunchy with distortion.

    Great comparison video but I didn’t hear the fishman to be so much better or better at all. I listened thru my car Bluetooth. Did they sound different? Yes. Better? Not sure about that.

      Not nearly as much of a difference as I was expecting. Using headphones was the only way I could tell.

    I think fishmans are over hyped beyond belief. Fishmans are a bit 1 trick pony. A lot of young guitarists are goi g to be fooled by their hype and figure this out as they mature. If you want to tap and palm mute they are great. But anything else and youd be better off with stock. They are also very unforgiving pickups. A lot of people will discover this. Also, you can just get bareknuckles, you will have the adequate djent sound the fishmans offer, but also have a well rounded hot af pickup for shredding around practicing and showing off and just cutting up amd getting loose. I honestly dont know why every guitar doesnt come stock with any of the fabulous pickups bareknuckle offers. Amd instead you see most major brands prestige lines like ibanez where like 10 out of 16 of their highest quality guitars they put fishmans or ibanez stocks in tjem. But very rarely would you see maybe like 1 guitar where they offer BK. I wish we could change this idea in the guitar community that the best guitars all ha e to have fishmans. Its fools gold. And now if you want a partivular guitar with a 2000$ prestige quality, youll likely have to replace their pickups because they stupidly put fishmans in everything with a premium or prestige quality now.

      I disagree but it is a matter of taste and what you're looking for in a pickup. Fishmans shine with low tunings because of their high end clarity (which is very good for extended range guitars). But if you're playing a 6 string, chances are you will feel like they don't sound as good as maybe a set of Bareknuckles or Lundgrens. As I said before though, it is dependant on what you play and what you're looking to get out of your tone, so your opinion isn't necessarily "wrong", I'm just saying that it's a bit close-minded.
      As a side-note, Fishman also has a selection of other pickups that are closer to what you might be used to but as you mentioned before, most guitar companies these days are putting in the Fishman Fluence Moderns rather than their other ones. (Especially the new 2024 ESP Lineup holy moly)

    What a great Video.
    The way you were comparing them really made sense to me :)
    I think about getting the same guitar as you have, would you recommend it?
    I own an ibanez grg170 and the Neck is really comfortable, is it somehow similar to the schecter?

    • @GabeValdezBigSmack
      @GabeValdezBigSmack  Год назад

      I'd definitely recommend my guitar. The necks on most ibanez guitars are pretty thin and fast, including the GIOs, which makes soloing and noodling a little more comfortable. The schecter necks like mine tend to be a little thicker, but feel very sturdy when playing, which I love for the low end chunky stuff. If you have a local music store I'd highly recommend going in and checking some out for yourself to see what you like
