My dad bought one of those Civic wagons and the early years of my childhood were spent riding around in the back looking up through those safari windows. I’ve been searching for something on them for years - thanks for bringing back a memory for me!
Thanks for watching! -Travis
Seeing all these Hondas brings such fond memories. Thanks for going to the museum for those reminiscing like myself.
Alex, Let me join 32,700 subscribers in welcoming Travis to the channel. At 4:18 you give us a glimpse of the fabulous Civic wagon from the 1980s but where is the wing devoted to the Accord and Civic wagons? 🤔
Welcome Travis. You should have fun doing Buyers Guide.
That's the plan! -Travis
There is a 1976 Honda Gold Wing GL1000 sitting in my garage. It has sat there since we moved to this house in 1989 after we trailered it here from our previous house. My brother made an attempt to revive it sometime in the 1990s, but gave up.
As the proud first & only owner of an 2002 S2000, my garage queen, I'd pick S2000 over a prelude everyday and twice on weekends :0)
It's hard to say no to a convertible on the weekends! -Travis
@@EVBuyersGuide Welcome on board, Travis!
Welcome, Travis! As always, amazing video Alex!
Thank you! -Travis
Nice flashback, but Roman just tweeted that you went to the Honda Museum, since TFL's Model T made you nostalgic. Can we get confirmation on that? You used to say you don't care for old cars. The world is so confusing. LOL thanks for the Post.
(For a time, when men were men and sheep were scared)
Welcome, Travis!
Glad to be welcomed! -Travis
Such a great review/discussion, as I rode in several of those models (or wanted a couple of them) as a kid.
Thanks for the memories of the first MDX. I ordered one of the early ones in 2001 and it was absolutely bulletproof. I had been an Acura customer for years before that, going through a progression of Legends and RLs. They were great vehicles.
You should drive the ‘97 CR-V. I still have my 2001 CR-V which was the last year of that first generation with just over 107,000 miles on it. It really will show you how much things have changed over the years. It isn’t fast, it’s noisy, but it is a more visceral driving experience than a modern CR-V.
Welcome Travis!
hahha i for real own that EXACT same push mower. Same wheels bag everything from what i could tell. Use it for front of the yard. Love it.
I have one of the first ever Hondas "officially" imported into the US. Its a 1952 Honda Cub F (bicycle attachment engine). Its been here in the USA since 1952, having been bought in a bulk lot directly from Honda in Japan by a US businessman. Ive often wondered if this Honda museum would be interested in this piece.
I want Alex to do a review on their 1st gen CR-V
I've owned the original Civic, the original Prelude, original CRX, 2nd gen Integra hatchback, and 3rd generation Accord hatchback. They were all dependable, economical, and fun cars to drive. Honda has lost a bit of that magic, but it still appears in some models... Favorite was the Prelude, moon roof, stereo, 5 speed manual, and great handling.
That's quite a collection! -Travis
Welcome aboard Alex, and thank you both for this trip down memory lane. I've heard rumours about the S2000 coming back as an EV, but that may be just wishful thinking from a number of fans 😊
comments still alive here
If they use the S2000 name I would be surprised. Maybe pleasantly, I don't know. -Travis
I had an 85 Civic wagon 90 Safari wagon w AWD (got 45 mpg on the highway), 92 VX, 94 SI, 3 different Del Sols (would sell one, then get another, they too were capable of 40-45 mpg). Those 1st 3 decades of Civics were such a great combo of space efficiency, economy, and fun to drive. Comfort was not my concern in my 30-50s!
That's quite a laundry list of Hondas, impressive! -Travis
Travis will be nice addition to the channel. He's confidently clear and well spoken but he did get a few facts wrong like "CR" is "Club Racer" not Cafe Racer :) In any case, i'm guilty of being "That guy" in the comments haha
You're spot on, that was my mistake! -Travis
Maybe one day there will be a HondaJet on the roof.
The scale provides some challenges with that one. -Travis
Can you guys arrange exclusive tour at Petersen's?
That sounds great, not sure how likely it is to happen. -Travis
Man, modern cars are so colossal compared to old ones.
They didn't have a current generation Civic parked right next to the first generation but it would have greatly illustrated your point. -Travis
Welcome, Travis! Too bad Honda didn't display their plugin history---short and sweet 2014 Accord, 2018 Clarity.
Clarity had three different Clean powertrains.... and the Honda Fit EV .... For those that are clean air agnostic....
Just plugin---with ICE. I leased a 2008 FCX Clarity. I brought this up as I still have 2 2014 plugin accords----wrecked. 1 2018 clarity daily driver plugin @@nc3826
Those other options might make their way in a different rotation, who knows! I would love to have seen a Honda E on display even we don't get it state side. -Travis
@@EVBuyersGuide Travis, if you were the one who responded to my comment about the Tesla CCS adapter.... I want to apologize for assuming its architecture is like the original CCS2 adapter, which was a smart adapter.... But I'm still interested in finding out more details, about it.... .
So if there's ever a post about it, I would definitely watch it.... Or any other EV technical subject matter... Since I clearly have a lot to learn ;)
The EV channel has been mostly dormant of EV content for too long, in my humble opinion. I hope you will rectify that issue. Welcome to the family, Travis and good luck....
What are your expectations for Ioniq 7? You think it will have exactly same powertrain as EV9? Bit more range maybe from lower drag.
I'm excited to see what the next Ioniq will bring since the 5 and 6 both unique and refreshing. I'm sure there will be similarities in powertrains but only Hyundai knows the answer right now. -Travis
Kind of sad there wasn't a 3rd generation Prelude (mostly cause I have one haha). Being the first mass produced vehicle with 4WS that beat the equivalent Porsche, Ferrari, and the C4 Corvette in the slalom speed test is a pretty cool thing.
Honda has had some pretty cool innovations over the years. -Travis
I'd take the original Prelude over the S2000 any day. The S2000 was too narrowly focused, while the Prelude had an extensive usage base.
It may have been narrowly focused but it was very good at what it was meant to do. No arguments about the Prelude's broader useable range. -Travis
S2000 all the way! Please🙏
Unfortunately we may never see another Honda like it. I would love to be proved wrong. -Travis
I thought you were merging the channels just into one?
No, we are keeping EVBG, but moving to a different style of content. Reviews will be on the main channel (where they moved back to), but here we'll be covering viewer questions, talking news, EV trends, ev buying advice, etc.
I'm not too interested in the '97. I'd watch a then vs now video; showing what and why things changed.
We'll keep that in mind! -Travis
Why is this video on EV Buyers Guide? It would be nice to introduce him to the non-EV watchers, might encourage more people to watch this channel.
We hope we can bring content to both channels to bring more people in! -Travis
Out of Spec Pose LOL
I give him a month
😅😅😅😅
😲
first job..... is installing the revolving door
Ouch. Brian was here 13 months and Nick is still here!
@@EVBuyersGuideYes, however, as everyone knows, that's because Brian and Nick are your sons.
j/k
4:40 Maybe wear white cotton gloves next time, if you want to be touching museum pieces.
Since nobody touched the car it's not an issue. We abided by Honda's rules while filming the museum. Look closer and you'll see the car wasn't touched.
he didn't even touch the model, Honda's going to let him wreck
Welcome Travis!
Thank you, happy to be here! -Travis
