  • In this short video, I'll show you the commands for using diskpart.exe in a command prompt or terminal as an administrator. This is a required step for putting bootable Linux or Windows installation media on a USB drive. This method works on Windows 7 and newer.
    Note that "format fs=fat32 quick" also works for FAT32

      Do you want ntfs or fat32? Both can make sense depending on your situation. 'format fs=ntfs quick' or 'format fs=fat32 quick' then 'active' then 'assign'

    I did this and after my pc broke it says no boot device available dont do this guys

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Год назад +1

      There are a few possible reasons for that. 1. Your system is likely UEFI, did you format the drive FAT32?, 2. Did you put OS installation media on it? 3. Your firmware (aka what was called BIOS on MBR systems) might not be configured to boot from USB, 4. Some systems have specific USB ports that are bootable, with others not bootable, 5. Your machine could be bricked. Those are my Top 5 troubleshooting reasons, but there are other potential culprits.

    It isjsut partition bro not, maked or unzipped OS. Or .iso... explain please

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  10 месяцев назад

      The partition needs to be marked Active and Assigned, then you can copy your OS media into it. Otherwise, the device's firmware won't see it as bootable media and won't find bootmgr

    Is there anything copied?

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  7 месяцев назад

      Yes, once you've done this you can copy the OS installation files to the USB drive. Note that for UEFI, the file system needs to be formatted FAT32, which has a file size limit of 4GB.

    is it gpt or mbr ?

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Год назад

      Could be either. For GPT you'll want to format the drive as FAT32. Fat32 also means 4GB file size limit, so for example if using Windows, you'll need media optimized for FAT32 with split WIMs

      @@CodersHaven if you said, FAT32 with UEFI doesn't work with Windows OS images as easily, because you need to split the WIM into pieces smaller than 4GB, that would have been your best clickbait argument.
