One great thing about medicat is that you can remove all tools you don't use or you don't want to use and add tools you use. Since it utilizes Ventoy you can add any other tool you use but it's not included so you can literary tailor it to your needs. I am gonna make something like medicat usb for myself but i will tailor it for my needs.

I still have several different versions on CD in my old (and hopefully never to be used again) CD case (it has a handle and holds 80 disks, was a lifesaver / everyday work tool back in the day), plus a USB DVD-Drive (and a couple of working SATA, and even ATA drives), plus many other CD's and DVD's from back in the day before booting from USB and installing/running things from USB was possible or realistic. It is amazing, shocking and stunning as to just how much has changed and how far we have come in just the last 20-years.! PS: Just subscribed.

I did not catch mention of the size of the download or the required USB size. For anyone else wondering, the download size as of December '23 is 22 GB. I would guess a minimum of a 64 GB USB would suffice for install.
An ISO that we could boot from DroidDrive on our phones would be awesome and I expect with some tinkering is totally possible.
Thanks for the tip on a cool tool!

I just built a MediCat USB repair drive on a cheap 30gb drive. It took 3 days for the build and verify to complete on my W11 system. I guess the cheap drive must be appallingly slow but three days seems a bit much. Anyhow, the Acronis utility then found unreadable sectors on a brand new 500gb Sovereca SSD I was diagnosing on my neighbour's brand new "gaming" computer. I thought SSDs were basically immune from bad sector reads, especially if new. They are sending a new SSD but I think this PC may be going back to Amazon.

I came across this project from a RUclips video who gave it a glowing review as an IT tool. I decided to take a look at the files before I installed it and it is full of malware. Yes, I know there's bound to be a few false positives b/c it contains password cracks, but it is far more than that. The files contain spy ware, exploits, viruses, and trojans. Why in the world would an IT tool contain spy ware and browser exploits in a help guide? Many of the files have been obfuscated in way that is used to hide from AV scanners. Do NOT go plugging this into your work computers unless you are trying to get yourself fired! If you want an IT tool build it yourself or buy it from a reputable company. Scan results attached.

This is years ago, the one I had also had all of the Flashdrive makers firmware editing tools, back in the first days of flashdrives the makers would install hidden bloatware that would install on PCs if the flashdrive was left in the drive when booting, & the only way to BURN IT OUT was by using "stolen" copies of their own software.
But at the sametime you could remove theirs and install your own, & THAT was the real danger. If you drop a flashdrive in a company parking lot, someone will pick it up, walk inside & plug it into a company PC's USB, 100% of the time. If you're in IT, make sure bootable USB ports are locked down & passworded. Or just make sure your Dad's & Mom's computer is locked down at home.

good content but it just imparts importance of doing backups - both os and data - with so many tools and so much complexity you may run into some issues like - is the os really fixed entirely? with an image of a clean install you never run into these issues - still a great to have to see what the repair ecosystem is like - all in wonder tools are great - why not just make it into an iso - maybe some other commenters can shed some light on this - just give me the iso
