Welcome to the Sweed Speed club sis. Skal! Got a 81k miles 2014 S6 over here. My dad had a "turbo brick" over 300k miles until the engine literally blew up and caught fire to the car while parked. I'm hoping to one day buy a new one and take the free volvo paid for trip to sweden to pick up your custom car then after a factory tour they ship it back to you.
Do it...if you have not since you wrote the comment.....I've owned 4...loved every one of them.... now have my truly wanted wish list one...2004 XC 70 AWD 2.5 T.......it glides along the roads, goes like crazy when needed, comfortable seats that are just the best..Just get it checked out well, should you go for one. Have fun first check out...on this medium..... videos on S60 R Volvos........no doubt in my mind...best cars on the road...good luck
From South Africa and lost everything in a flash. Cars trucks, houses, etc. I went back to basics and had to buy a cheap runner cash to get by. Ended up buying a Volvo S40 2.4 Non Turbo with high mileage. Due to the service records, I took a leap of faith and will never buy another car ever again besides Volvo. Fantastic service and low-cost running saved my day. In the position to upgrade and will by another Volvo, but as for my trusty S40 2.4, she's getting a complete makeover and is staying by side until I die or pass onto family that will appreciate her. Must still decide
Damn man we’re really sorry to hear that happened to you. Nothing will ever win over older Volvos such as these. They’re just bullet proof if you take care of them. Ours is nearing 200,000mi
Amazing video :) I have a Volvo V70 from 2009 that just crossed 480k kilometers which is about 300k miles and it is still running perfect. I live in Sweden so OEM parts are really easy to find here.
Grelix I live in the Netherlands, do you have some webistes, links or stores that you could give me? I can get about most things here through the dealership but not everything:(
bought a used s80 2.0t 2006 late 2018, high milage at 300k km. replaced all the weird issues that popped up. been running nicely now at 400k+. Despite the expensive parts it's surprisingly reliable as long you do the maintenance early when issues are detected. those will bleed into costs if not taken care of.
Going to look at a 04 s60r this weekend and im really glad the suspension was replaced recently. Excited to get back in a Volvo. I have always said the comfiest ride i had was in my 06 xc90
I just got a 2010 Volvo S40 R design 2.5 Turbo with only 70k miles I went ahead and done timing belt water pump spark plugs air filterI plan on changing the oil/filter every 3k miles so far I’m happy with it owned it a few weeks now 😊
04 XC70 2.5t AWD.....186,000 km...not miles....amazing car, maintenance is costly, and I'm not a mechanic or have a buddy to help me..love to do things myself...But...you must have a good knowledgeable shop that can do the Volvo serious stuff. I'm getting some work done now, and costly as it is, with some more to come....the car responds......Volvo for life in my mind...Wagons even longer....Good stuff on your channel..appreciated
One of my dream cars I will buy will be a Vovlo S60 from recent years, 2016-2022, so this was great info to have. Thank you Tyler for the info and Rico being the camera man!
Thanks for tuning in brother! You’ll get one we know you will. It’s only a matter of time. Hopefully at some point we’re able to get the newer chasis as well and be able to make content on them!🤙
@FuckTheGlobal actually the plant in Gothenburg is still producing Volvo! The ones produced in China are under Volvo Sweden supervision and standards implementation!
Turning radius, you forgot to mention the turning radius lol! I had an 06 S60R for many years and it could not do a U turn. You will find yourself backing up in the middle of an intersection if you attempt one in a P2 volvo haha.
We May have plans in the future to get a P3 Volvo just because they’re so different than the earlier ones. Learning on those would be awesome as well as showing everyone!👍
Thank you for this great and helpful video. I took your advice from another video you made some time ago and did stage 0 "tuning" so far a lot has been done on my 2002 s60 2.0 LPT. It has cool extras in it not super fast but its ok for the family. PCV done including all related hoses, sparkplugs, injector seals and filters, new front anti roll bar, front suspension inc. top mounts, drop links, rear shocks. Bought both lower wishbone arms just did not have time for it yet. Also have dual mass flywheel, clutch kit and slave cylinder but that might be too much for me to do on my own...:( and now going to do sunroof drain check this weekend :) Thanks again for making useful videos
As long as you love the car and the process, the car doesn’t have to be fast! The joy of the whole journey is always what’s most important. You even have a lot more modifications to yours compared to our S60. You have way more body support and maintenance vs our want to go fast modifications. A huge difference for your speed would be a great fuel pump upgrade. If you upgrade the pump, I promise you that you won’t be disappointed!😎
Hi, I plan to buy a used Volvo s60 2.4 140. I would like to know what the recurring problems are. Is it a vehicle that consumes a lot, what do you think of switching it to e85? How many kilometers for a full tank? Thank you!!!
That’s a good point! Not sure if that’s a huge wide spread issue with Volvos. We haven’t encountered it ourselves, but you seem very knowledgeable about them! Thanks for the heads up!👍
Hello, I have a question and hope someone can help me. I have a Volvo s60 d5 from 2004 with 290,000 km. I have driven the car for 2 years and 57,000 km and never had a problem. But now one has occurred and I have a question because I like to work on the car myself. The xenon headlamp levelling system only ever regulates the light downwards. It has suddenly appeared and I can only see the light just in front of the car. When I start the car the light goes up and then down and always stays there does anyone know what the problem could be?
Yes they are, but the Volvo dealerships in my region are a mess . I purchased my Volvo from a private owner and I called them to inquire about a car warranty I can get through them, and they called themselves telling me I got to come all the way to those dealership which is an hour away , just for them to inspect the car to see how much the warranty would be
I have a 1966 Volvo Amazon (122s) roller and was thinking of what engine to put in it. Started with the LS... but that overdone, still awesome. Thought about a K24 RWD conversion, but the sound is terrible. I am really leaning towards building a T5 for it.
All you had to say was Amazon and the mind starts to go crazy with ideas!😱 You are speaking truth about the LS motors being overdone and overly normal now. I guarantee if you’re able to make the 5 cyl a RWD (which is not imposible) you’ll get way more respect and attention other than having an LS!!😎
I just bought a 2003 2.9 s80 and already it had one clogged catalytic converter. But it was at over 155,000 miles I expected something to happen. Plus I got it cheap and no service records unfortunately. I heard the transmission is bad on these? Is that just for the turbo or the plain 6 like I have now. Cheers tho love the Swedish delights. Volvo and Saabs.
We’re not super familiar with the 2.9l motors since their not 5 cylinders. We’ve heard that they are pretty difficult to work on and have their own types of issues vs. the 5 cyl Volvos. Look around on the forums and see what some people say about them!👍
Old volvos are good, they work and start always.new volvo engineparts are made plastic and full of sensors and wacuum.i have ols s 40 automatic.gearbox is also so smooth and i havr over 300 000 kilometers in it,car dont clunk.hesetate or make any problems at all,its guality car.only minus its mpg.its not good.sucking guite much gasoline.but i an sure it always start in seconds and just keep going and going.
I had a 2002 S60 and traded it in when it had 250,000 miles for a 2014 model. It was still running well but I wanted to get something I felt more comfortable taking longer trips in. My 2014 now has 90,000 miles. I'm 66 years old and expect this car to last till my family takes the keys away from me. 🤣🤣
Definitely make sure the car has nothing seriously wrong with it and if it doesn’t just make sure to keep up on your basic maintenance, especially because of high miles. But if you take care of it, these cars can run for a very, very long time.
Dealers charging x100 from actual cost of everything even if the car was perfect they will charge you 200 just for visit and then peoples are saying that volvo is cheap to buy but expensive service
Facts. Only thing i went to a Volvo dealer for was a recall with the airbags. I called places for a BOSCHE MAF sensor and it costs $130-$170, then i called a volvo dealer and they were gonna charge $350 just for the sensor itself
Im looking to either get a 2.2 derv civic or a d5 s60 volvo, what one do you reckon would be better for getting power out of? prefer the look of the volvo and it has alot more space.
We’re not really too familiar with the D5 Volvos, majority of those were mass produced in Europe. But if you have a pros and con list, you already have 2 pros for the Volvo: the looks, and the space! Plus, everyone has a civic, but not everyone has decked out Volvo!😎
@@WhipGetters They cost around the same, civic has like 130bhp while the d5 has like 180, road tax for the civic is £100 cheaper at £130 while the volvo is like £230 and insurance is alot cheaper aswell, ill probably give it another year to see what the insurance goes to for the volvo. They are both really good engines so, the civic looks like an egg tho, dont think the US market got the fn1/fn2.
It’s really whatever you can see yourself driving in the next couple years. Volvo is something different than Hondas for sure! If you’re in Europe as it seems, Volvos seem like that have way more support than here. Regardless of your decision, I think you’ll be happy either way!🤙
The only way it can have cracking problems is too much power or boost. As long as those categories are well know of, you’ll be fine with modifying and doing what you like!🤙 The 2.0t motors on the other hand we’re not too sure about power mods and such. They’re not that widespread vs the higher liter engines.
I’ve always had fords now going to a Volvo s60 2.0turbo which has high mileage 160k petrol engine . Any advice on anything I should do with the engine with high mileage? It’s had a timing belt done already

I just bought a 2008 s60 Volvo and I’m so nervous but this video put me at ease. I just need to make sure I keep up with regular maintenance.
You’ll be just fine! If you take care of the car, it will take care of you!👍
nothing to be nervuse about youst the best brand out there ! GREETINGS FROM SWEDEN! HEJA SEVERIGE!
Congrats then :) My GF has a 2005 s60 2.5t with 540 000km and its running like 340 000km thats maintained well 😎

Only if America was like Sweden. It can be a really big pain to get parts here for these cars sometimes! Especially the P80’s!🤔
what sites do you use?

Not gonna lie, the turning radius is pretty horrid on these models. They didn’t really consider the types of streets you can find yourself in!😵
Agreed, they were not well designed
