Very well done instructional video here. Thanks. I actually had received the 219 chain conversion kit before my Sur Ron had arrived, but have not installed yet. My belt is still solid even pushing 7500 watts. I will be receiving my 72 volt battery soon and will be riding at 13500 watts. I am thinking that the belt might break at that point, so this video will come in handy. Cheers.
Hey that was a good video of man I have a 2:19 chain and I think it's stretched to the limit I'm thinking about going to the 4:20 have you gotten used to the noise of the 4:20 and it is it really that bad I was looking at the wharp 9 kit
Yeah I ride Street a lot like everyday to work but not too long and mostly the trails on the weekend I don't mind noise but I'm sure I I could get used to it
Db 219 kit is way better than the Luna one, you should've tried that one. Has durability up to 20 HP I've heard from people in the Sur Ron group and its quiet.
Right on. Thanks for the tip. No it shouldn’t cause any issues I would think. As long as it’s not so loose it’s flopping around. I ran my 219 chain a bit loose too. But that’s cuz it had multiple tight and loose spots throughout the chain. Worked good. I just know now how important lubing the chain is. I’m gonna lube before every ride. I never put lube on my first ride on the 219 and I thing it caused it to get grooves on the sprocket which just got worse over time. But honestly I think the power of 14k kw was just to much for those cheap sprockets
is that drive sproket on the 219 aluminium or something? if so no wonder it rounds over... use proper hardened steel teeth and it'd last ages. they use 219 on gocarts pulling 20+hp, and they dont need changing every 500 odd km...
@@Mayhemjach sorry mate wasn't saying you did, just that those who made that kit (who was it btw?) know virtually nothing about what they're doing... ally is ok for large sprokets (when hard anodized) but drive sprokets? crazy. IDK why they wouldn't just cut it from steel and do a basic heat treat on it, easy enough to do at home and would last far, far longer.
howzit brotha jach! i just converted mines also and it’s super loud,i can’t tell if it’s chain sound or that’s my motor whining or something, any tips? also do u know anyone selling a motor? lmk wen u can, thanks brotha🤙🏾

I love seeing you work on your Sur Ron on your living room carpet!
Haha yeah
Holy crap! What a racket! You just talked me out of it.
Chain was to tight and it wasn’t properly lubricated. It’s no where near this loud. Check out my recent videos. You can barely hear it
Nice video as always!!
Thank you

If you ride mostly street 420 is crazy loud. Off-road not a big deal. Will last longer for sure though

Wow it`s noisy!) Also changed belt to 420 chain yesterday, but didn`t tried yet. Waiting for some parts to complete my build.
Nice man. It’s not to bad. You get used to it within a few minutes. Sounds like a bad ass electric dirt bike now haha. I like it

What type of frame extension protection bar do you have on that? Thing looks sick back there! Do you have a link to buy it? Or is that custom?
It’s custom made. About 3 years ago
What kind of hand guards are those
Dang, I have no idea. Lol. That was over 2 years ago.
What made you say the sproclets about to explode ? Why
This is the old 219 version. It has multiple plates, not 1 piece of metal for the smaller sprocket. It was screaming
How often do you have to lube the chain
Depends on how frequently you ride and the terrain. But every 5 or so rides should be good
Great vid. But I don’t tight my chain nearly as much as you do. I think you should give it some play.
Your right. I loosened it up a hair. It’s a lot quieter.
@@Mayhemjach Ah true that! A bit loose is always better! Running smooth now? You're good with your motor overheating issues?
@@MTO_Brothers yeah, running super smooth. No issues at all with the motor.
How has this been holding up and do you recommend it? I’m going to do a 72v soon
Yeah, completely recommend. Even the 420 will stretch. But you get way more life then the 219 with it.
@@Mayhemjach it seems super hard to find. Do you have a link for the setup you got?

Ive been running mine a lot looser than that, its much quieter but do you think theres anything risky about running it loose? Mahalo!

Did you feel like you lost any power?
Slightly, but wasn’t enough to really notice. The belt is just more instant
it's a little loud but it actually sounds kinda cool
thanks for the video bro
Makes it sound like there’s a giant electric motor in there now lol.
How is your speed affected by 420 primary chain conversion?
?
Not to sure yet. I just did that little bit there. I’ll know more for sure Tomorrow
Hey boss, any difference in speed with 420 chain? I’m buying a surron and considering upgrading to chain right off the bat
On the stove too 😵 if I did something like that at home my mom would hang me up a tree

That’s the 219 kit for the surron. I didn’t make those sprockets.

219 or 420?
The 219 will make plenty noise if no lubricant is added. I notice with the 420 if it’s a little loose it will be a lot quieter

219 from luna was terrible construction, same issues here and went to the 420 from another company.
