Good times! I remember reading at the newspaper that the sims 2 was coming out. At the time my graphics were only 256 MB, I made my family’s life hell until I got a pc that would poorly run this game. I’ve been playing the sims 2 since 2020, got addicted to it, again.
This was one hell of a nostalgia trip. Had almost the exact same experience where Sims 2 wouldn't run hardly at all on our PC when I got the game, but got a handed down Gateway a year later that could run it at a playable speed. Never played through a lot of the events like the private school head master, so I live vicariously through the guide to it. I also had the game guide and used it extensively since I didn't have regular internet access at the time. Had the one for Nightlife and Pets too, and eventually once Free Time (the next to last expansion) came out they released a box set of guides for every expansion that I still have to this day.
He used a Finnish renidition of the Harry Potter book for his 0,5 second bit about it and as a Finn I feel seen and happy (even though it was probably unintentional)

Tbf to child Kevin reading the Sims 2 guide over and over, I had a Pokemon game guide that came with a magazine and read it hundreds of times and made a list of all the Pokemon that I would catch despite having never played a Pokemon game. I was simultaneously the most and least knowledgeable.
Kids these days will never understand obsessively reading game guides until your parents let you play a game for one hour on the family computer. Kids these days are much happier than I was as a child.
And when you have 2 siblings that share the one computer in your house, so your one hour play time is strictly controlled by your parents because whenever it's time to switch between siblings, a fight ensues. Then your mom gets mad at all the yelling and nobody can play.
OMG the memories of excitement when the Sims 2 trailer was displayed in 0:22 ! I can relate so much, I also was getting a new PC so that I could play Sims 2, it was like getting into a new era. I wish I could get excited about anything now like I was about Sims 2 :D

Kevin, I know this had probably been commented 50 times but the reason there’s nothing in the guide for dating/chemistry is because those were introduced in an expansion pack and not base game!! The prima guide just covers base stuff :p
Oohh boy, I remember game guide books. I bought one for an online game using my saved lunch money and I followed that religiously, then an update happened and everything I did got nerfed. Then I had a collage making activity in art class and guess what I brought as material.
So glad to see the return of the Sims 2! And the way the whole experience came off as "organized chaos" is very much on-brand for Kevin :) Always looking forward to more!!
Totally going to read my game guide now. I started with sims 2 as a kid and i had it on the family computer at my dad’s house. My mom always thought if i had it on our computer we would get a virus. Thanks to Sims 2 for helping me through my anxiety growing up.
I remember me and my cousin played this game and we just started out and my cousin was like well my character is a little hungry so he made food and I was like yeah might as well eat too and then as soon as my character took the first bite he choked and died and we just started.
My first time playing Sims 4, I spent like 3 hours making my character and starting house, and then the very first action I did, I tried to make a grilled cheese sandwich and burned myself to death. >.< LOL within like 10 seconds of starting the game.

The sim walking outside and THEN catching on fire is the most Kevin thing I’ve seen 😂
2:07 - Neat cameo from the legend who always managed to make sure that Kevin always got a little laugh in his media streams. ☺️
I love those streams, when I have a lot of free time I just watch media share on the stream archive.
I thought there was a possibility that Kevin played the sims for views or because it was popular on his channel.
But he just loves the sims. And that's amazing
Who doesn't? Sims 2 is the best xD
As a frequent enjoyer of midnight salmon, I can say that you're absolutely right about it hitting the sweet spot.
This is even funnier when you realize Gary is the guy who adopted one of Kevins alien babies and who kevin mooched off of in the video where he tried living without a home
"It kinda sucks that I have to go to work even though I'm dying"
Welcome to capitalism, Kevin.
Best comment 🤣🤣🤣
How else is he going to afford his health insurance and supplementary medical bills?
@@voxvolhynia5400 Or not starve or freeze, or be evicted, or feed his kids, or die - Oh wait.
ok commie

i cannot believe this good catholic boy has read the sims game guide more than the bible, my perception of kevin has shattered
this unlocked a memory i forgot i had. I LOVED reading manuals to EVERY EP i got for the sims 2 i was literally obsessed with it. I remember that my parents would buy me one or two per year and we often got them when we were visiting my grandparents so i was sitting in their bedroom away form everyone reading the new manual before i could get home and actually play it for the first time. Happy times 😊🥰
I've seen all of your Sims videos, including the one where you grilled babies, and the image of five nearly identical blonde men taking turns splashing each other in a hot tub to distorted Christmas music is still the most vaguely menacing video of them all.
I guess I should have realized that there is an actual like “way” you’re supposed to play the game lmao. But 90% of the time we all would just rather torture our sims 😂😂
I used to go straight to modthesim2 and download crazy shit like the grill that literally cooks babies and have Goku marry Cloud Strife. Good times.
Or create strange and bizarre fantasy situations
Apparently even the guide likes to torture sims lol
And play the salsa radio station while there's a fire in the background and the baby is crying and someone is dying xD
or name them after people we hated, then ensure they had a short, uncomfortable existence and a slow, painful death..... not just me, right?
I just have to say I am thrilled to see you getting at 3 million plus followers. You truly deserve it with how fun, realistic (In personality lol) and humble you are! Keep it up Kevin I hope life for you has been great. Btw like the new hair!
Oh my god! He's finally playing the Sims 2 again! I've missed the new Sims 2 series so much!
i just love the christmas music playing all the time in the background
No one:
Kevin: accidentally brings us Christmas in July
"Kinda sucks that I have to go to work even though I'm DYING."
Life of a retail worker...
now this truly is something a little bit different
;)
thank you for the heart kevin!!
Kevin, I know what you’re doing with that Finnish Harry Potter book cover. You clearly know that everytime a Finn sees something Finnish, they must mention it, thus driving up the interaction rates on your video.
*takes notes* 👀
Same for anyone trying to learn Finnish!
“Playing the sims the way the creators intended”
Let me say the same sentence but in Kevin’s language:
“Killing my sims in gruesome ways”
I love that the game knows Kevin so well that even when he tries to perform the right action, the game decides that's not what he meant.
The fact that he followed the guide and it still ended in death and despair.
watching again at the end of 2023. this has amazing Kenergy
Kevin, you are a ray of sunshine that helps people cheer up. Your videos make me laugh until the point of my belly hurting. No matter what mood i am, i always cheer up after watching your videos. I thank you for being you and cheering people up. ❤️
19:25 the fact that Kevin chooses Runescape music every now and then is an amazing little edit.
0:55 the Harry Potter cover just jumpscared me. and this is coming from a Finn who read the books as a kid lmao
Same!!
Same
I had to go back to look at it again because I was like “wtf was that in Finnish?” lol
Sama
I had the Pets version of this guide and I mostly loved that it had codes to unlock stuff in the game, so there were SO MANY neon yellow dogs in my saves.
Shoutout to the Kevin and his editing team. They're amazing :)
Imagine kevin's parents pov:
>This kid reads a book non stop for months on how to raise a family
>Finally starts his family
>Dies instantly
Day 266 of asking Kevin to play Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey
OMG flashback🥹
Honk 👍
He would be a beautiful princess.
YES PLEASE
Praying your mission will be successful 🙏
I'd forgotten how many weird objects were in the Sims 2. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
I know! It was fantastic! I miss so many of those things.
Kevin is like a chaotic god; the last think you want to tell it, it to 'follow rules'.
That's how people die horribly to genie's wishes.
Y'know, as someone who is somewhat face blind, the a party of several blond sims is... confusing xD
just a bunch of blonde dudes in their trunks, im surprised kevin was able to somewhat recognize whos who
Don't worry. Not being face-blind doesn't help at all.
I was dying at the end laughing oh my god the sound affects you added everytime the sim noticed the fire again and then him running through it to get out 🤣🤣 Feckin fantastic, id love to see this as a clip tbh.
the only thing i remember from my very first time playing ts2 was making a couple and having them have a baby, but it ended up being twins, and it was so hard to manage my entire household fell apart before they were even toddlers.
i love this game.
Even when he follows the guide, Kevin still goes on his own way.
Never change Kevin, never change.
19:25 omg the osrs beatz version of sea shanty 2
Kevin is so great, two dudes chilling in a hotube but actually being in a romance thing and he do it with no problems just naturally, is wholesome, Kevin best straight person :]
It's the Sims, for some reason even the most homophobic people had no trouble with same sex romance.
Kevin best person
@@franciscasilva8406 what do you mean? I remember when the sims 4 first came out and Jack did a series on it. He had one of the women in his family marry Bella Goth and his whole comment section got so toxic. He had to address it and tell homophobes to get the hell away from his channel
mildly unrelated but has Kevin ever actually said he was straight
@@Atlassx0 No but it's a reasonable assumption since he's only dated women.
Kevin's story is very similar to my sister's: she also discovered Sims 1 at a friend's house and loved playing it so she asked it for Christmas, but Sims 2 was going to come out (we were in 2004) so she jumped instantly to Sims 2 :)
I'd love to watch her play, as I'm younger and at the time the little me looked at the game and it seemed so different than everything I had ever tried and looked so complicated, that I didn't have the courage to try and prefered to watch her play xD
Then eventually I tried and loved it and got better than her at it.. And now I'm the gamer of the family! The end xD
I love when kevin plays the sims and even when hes playing normally it goes all strange
You yeeted me back to when I was seven and we had dial up internet with that pinball game at the start, that was a combined psychic-damage/core-memory punch, nicely done
Good times! I remember reading at the newspaper that the sims 2 was coming out. At the time my graphics were only 256 MB, I made my family’s life hell until I got a pc that would poorly run this game.
I’ve been playing the sims 2 since 2020, got addicted to it, again.
"I'll just enjoy the love tub by myself, I guess"
a phrase that becomes more and more relatable with every passing day
is also nice to see kevin makeing longer videos when he can and enjoying the games for what they are instead of chaos all the time
Kevin: "It's new year's... Kinda"
Me: *looks at what day it is. July 15* "Hmm, seems legit."
Wow, kevin is playing correctly!
FINALLY!
finally it's here...

Reading guides as a kid:
Kevin: makes wacky sims houses while exploiting wholehearty characters like Jim Pickens.
Me: Utilising my tactical espionage action skills, late into my 20's.
Kevin: nonchalantly gets rid of grilled cheese aspiration.
Me: it's the end of an era.
I really missed the sims 2 videos, and this did not leave me disappointed
I have a feeling that Kevin doing any of the popular sims challanges would be awesome. He would have so much fun with legacy challange
Being Kevin, he would go though them in the weirdest way possible. See Jim Pickens 100 baby challenge for reference.
Kids these days will never understand obsessively reading game guides until your parents let you play a game for one hour on the family computer. Kids these days are much happier than I was as a child.
Dont think they are happier but the rest is true
And when you have 2 siblings that share the one computer in your house, so your one hour play time is strictly controlled by your parents because whenever it's time to switch between siblings, a fight ensues. Then your mom gets mad at all the yelling and nobody can play.
@@liv97497 Ah the memories
We're not
OMG the memories of excitement when the Sims 2 trailer was displayed in 0:22 ! I can relate so much, I also was getting a new PC so that I could play Sims 2, it was like getting into a new era. I would read all the game magazines, admire the house building possibilities, exchange them with friends, note down the new cheats... I wish I could get excited about anything now like I was about Sims 2 :D
The fire scene and the sim’s disobedience had me rolling
lol I love the context story for this. some people didn't grow up grateful for any game they could get to run on their family emachines potato at 10 fps, and it shows
Kevin, I know this had probably been commented 50 times but the reason there’s nothing in the guide for dating/chemistry is because those were introduced in an expansion pack and not base game!! The prima guide just covers base stuff :p
Oohh boy, I remember game guide books. I bought one for an online game using my saved lunch money and I followed that religiously, then an update happened and everything I did got nerfed. Then I had a collage making activity in art class and guess what I brought as material.
Good lord, the chaos of this video is giving me life. Not even following the guide Kev escapes from his own insanity
So glad to see the return of the Sims 2! And the way the whole experience came off as "organized chaos" is very much on-brand for Kevin :) Always looking forward to more!!
Kevin rocking bleach tips and holister like it’s year 2000 again. Nice.
Even when playing to the rules Kevin still ends up with a sim on fire at the end
