When they finished their last song, Huey Lewis said, "My name's Huey Lewis, and you just heard the News." Everyone looks at each other, and says, "Who?" And then, they're famous!😊⛪
i know, it's a crying shame really. some people just wouldn't know good music if it walked up to them and shook their hand. i've always loved Huey Lewis, i dig his upbeat style, and his feelgood rockin beat. The Heart of Rock & Roll is still in me.
I agree with both of you. They are a great band and this was a unique, nice, retro album. It's certainly not like their earlier work, and that is on purpose! Huey said, in an interview, that this entire album is a tribute to the music and the style of music-making that he and the rest of the guys in the band grew up with and were inspired by. It was never meant to be on the Billboard Top Ten! It had a more important purpose!! And that was showing their roots and the respect they had for some of the great musicians who came before them.
I know, some people are brain damaged and they can’t help it. Well on a positive note Huey Lewis and the News pulled it off. They have made so many hits but I was surprised when I saw this one but then again they can seem to do no wrong.
I think most of the issue with Huey Lewis and the news is they are first and foremost pop music and while this album isn't awful but most of this literally reminds me of Huey Lewis and the News doing karaoke versions of their favorite 60s rhythm and blues Tunes
I just watched a couple dance their first dance as man and wife to this song,they were amazing and I fell in love with this song! (If anybody wants to see them,they're doing the jive.Fabulous,and this song was perfect for it!
My daughter & I used to play this all the time. We would dance to it. I have searched everywhere to find the complete album or cassette & I really miss all those old tunes. Huey is so soulful. "Can I get witness.?" Oh yeah brother, I love it! The organ really takes me to church!

The album was done without electronic enhancements, synthesizers, etc. Just the instruments and voices.
The original recording of the song wasn't released until 1957, so 1994 is the correct date.
