Am 54 now, and have been a Huey Lewis & The News fan all my life.....like the song says ....they are "The Heart of Rock n' Roll"! Plus Blues, Doo-Wop, Soul etc etc. Huey could sing the phone book, and it would be fantastic!
i saw huey and the news a number of years ago in chicago. he was having voice problems (pre-laryngitis) and was told not to sing. you could barely hear him talk, but, when it came time to sing, that was probably one of THE best shows. he did not disappoint!
Exactly! I don't get how great bands don't get into the rrhf, but one hit wonder do. Like so I when he was with black Sabbath. So I wasn't inducted with black Sabbath. Why? Don't get it. I've made my own form of the rrhf
Wow. I'm always blown away by Huey, but this is PHENOMENAL. Just...I can't even begin to describe how in love I am with his version (and everything he's ever done...and him...lol)!
My husband enjoy this song soo much...and persuaded me to listen to this song...now I know why he's so immerse listening this song.... a great song and performed even greater by HLN. I'm a HLN fan now and will be....thanks for the posting
Saw Huey in the late-80's. Neville Brothers opened the show, the Tower Of Power horns were backing Huey. For his last encore Huey brought the Neville Brothers back out and they all jammed "Take Me To The River" for about 15 minutes. It was great.
I have got to go see him.....let me see......search.....find Huey Lewis concert right now! I didn't know if he was still touring or not....but I see he is!
Damn, the News gave us so much good music. Huey was / is loaded with personality and talent. I always miss seeing Mario Cipollina in the latter day performances.
RUclips kept removing this. I have a copy of it & I'm sure others do too. If it gets removed again, I will put it back up. This is Huey & the lads at THEIR BEST & nobody should be denied this.
Was never really a fan of Huey . I respected the fact that him and his band were known to kill it live, but the music wasn’t my cup of tea. I happen to absolutely love old doo wop music and this is an incredible cover. It’s hard to believe there is no other instrument being played other than drums. Love this.
It blew my mind when I first found out Huey Lewis was white after listening to his voice for years on the radio and in movies but never seeing him in video or photos. The fact that Huey Lewis and the News could do such a great cover song of a black artist like this one is proof of Huey's deep ebony voice. I imagine this is how white kids in the 60's felt after listening to black artists on the radio for years thinking they were white until they saw them live and realized they were black. What a funny surprise.
great song, Thurston Harris brought the song all the way from Mother Africa - listen to Ladywmith Black Mombazo, you can hear the same swing on some of their music -
This was good, and he did a good job covering this track. However, people are giving him a little more credit then is due... I'm sorry, but it just doesn't take too much talent or creativity to cover a song that is already grand to begin with...
CWC4, when they played this album, they were great on this time. it is their seventh album and they don't need to show anything to anyone. It is a compilation album with rhythm and blues influences in the band. It is the same to criticise big rock bands playing music for other great musicians.
That's just untrue. He put his own vocal styling on the song, which includes a TON of talent. He and his band were always vocally tight and were throwbacks to 50's-era do-wop singers. He just never got the accolades he deserved because he happened to be a star during the 80's era of pop.
I always liked Huey Lewis and the news. I always wanted to see them live but never had the opportunity. A very talented group that I feel should have had far more recognition than they actually had received. Their original recordings. Were all good and cover versions such as "Little itty pretty one" were always on par with the original versions of the songs.
The News didn't steal any music from ANYONE!. They get PROPER APPROVAL to perform these songs! UNLIKE Ray Parker Jr. HE stole "I Want A New Drug" for Ghostbusters. ('n Got sued for it too!!)
Words can't describe how awesome Huey Lewis is along with his band. What a pity that today's music is in the dumps.

He's definitely the heart of rock and roll
One of the great voices of our lifetime, under appreciated.
Huey Lewis & the News is ALWAYS a class act!
I just heard Huey Lewis and The News play this acapella in Dallas tonight. It was awesome!
i saw huey and the news a number of years ago in chicago. he was having voice problems (pre-laryngitis) and was told not to sing. you could barely hear him talk, but, when it came time to sing, that was probably one of THE best shows. he did not disappoint!
Huey could also let his harmonica playing do the talking for him
Yes! This version is almost as good as the original and that is unusual for me, so that takes some talent. I wish he had stayed popular much longer.
I love when more recent stars revisit the classics. This is so well done.
This song represents another reason why the Rock Hall Inducution group are oafs. How can you not recognize this band as a great one????!!
One of the GOATS

Probably because this is a remake of Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. But yes, Lewis and the news should've already been in the hall for their music.
Thurston harris

Ah, the human voice blended with others. Nothing like it.
Fantastic talent + respect for the original. A new classic!

Love this. They sound fantastic.
This is unbelievably incredible!

This is a fantastic remake !

Him and the News have done Doo-Wopy music before though!
and an upright bass by Mario Cipollina 😎😉
I have much empathy for Huey as he is suffering from a hearing loss.
Espetacular, melhor versão!!!
🇧🇷
Ni a los talones le llega al original!!
@@pepebritos21 👍
Saw them open for the Doobie Brothers before they hit the big time.....awesome band.
I swear I think Hewey does it best???
They weren't doing it to "show talent", at the time they just wanted to release an Album of older Rock Classics, thats all.

very good
So good
I hadn't heard this version before

That a good version
anyone else notice the fact that Beyonce borrowed aspects of this song for " put a ring on it " ??
Look at some of the dreck in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and give me a coherent reason why these guys aren't there?
y pensar que huey empezó en España tocando en locales y después no ha vuelto a venir T-T
💓
encantador
Cool shot of retro girl snapping her fingers in time at 0:35
Who are the guys doin the doo- wop?
Thurston Harris recorded this first.
You're wrong, period!
They do great harmony only the eagles do better in my opinion.
🤣🤣🤣
I'm sorry you're just to darn loud.
This is a really creepy song.
Who says it is??
I’m sorry fellas, but I’m afraid you’re just to darn loud. 🤓

This a song about grooming a child for the purposes of assault if not rape.
White washed
