I wouldn't say it looks worse, more different. Animation styles have changed a lot over the past hundred years, and some are going to prefer one style over another.
Chances are late Gen Xers and Millennials grew up with that movie :) shit, I did and I'm happy to say it got me loving him too. The 80s and 90s were sort of a new golden age in animation, besides the fact these original cartoons from the 1st golden age were revitalized strongly again.
My favorite was when he Mickey and Donald did their own version of Jack and The Beanstalk. It's very rare to see Goofy try to help his friends through terrible times like Famine and surprisingly realistic for a cartoon.

I wonder what was actually preventing the Disney cartoon studio from creating really funny cartoon shorts like it's counterparts over at Warner Bros. and MGM back in the 1940s and 1950s.

Yeah, sad to see that Goofy became a total failure as representing a normal adult during those times. I'm so glad to see that he came back as he used to. :)
I actually liked some of those "normal" ones. The ones where he becomes a father, tries to stop smoking, catches a cold and goes insane on the road were hilarious. There were a few more that were good. But yeah, the ones where he is like the modern and Dippy Dawg-esque character is where he is at his best.
Goof Troop was the best cartoons of it's time, still is my favorite. My younger brother didn't like cartoons at the time, but really enjoyed watching goof Troop whenever I tuned in to it.
I loved Goofy's educational cartoons! That ski one was (and still is!) a favorite! Same with the Christmas ones! One of my son's favorite movies of all was the Goofy movie with Goofy and Max...he watched it so much he wore out the first FOR tape and I had to buy a second one!

Mickey has a girlfriend and a dog, Donald has a girlfriend and nephews, Goofy has a son. I think we can tell who is the most successful of them. Also, thanks to "A Goofy Movie" I discovered a great side of Goofy: his parent side (I didn't like Goof Troop that much when I was a teen, and I watched the movie as an adult, with more knowledge of cartoon). I mean, I would totally love to have him as a father if he's that caring and protective....for my childhood. Maybe in my teen era I would be like Max. Even if I knew about that side with the infamous George episodes, that wasn't Goofy at all. They were using the character for another new personality and meh episodes. Goofy and Max are my most favourite Disney characters.

I think my favorite moments of Goofy include when in A Goofy Movie, Goofy accidentally swallow a rubber duck squeaker and makes a cute baby laugh during a photo shoot (don't try that at home though, Goofy is a professional, and a squeaker could cause choking), and in An Extremely Goofy Movie, when his girlfriend Sylvia was serving Goofy coffee, and Goofy takes the coffee pot instead of the mug. Yeah, sad to see that Goofy became a total failure as representing a normal adult during those times. I'm so glad to see that he came back as he used to. :)
I actually liked some of those "normal" ones. The ones where he becomes a father, tries to stop smoking, catches a cold and goes insane on the road were hilarious. There were a few more that were good. But yeah, the ones where he is like the modern and Dippy Dawg-esque character is where he is at his best.
Goof Troop was the best cartoons of it's time, still is my favorite. My younger brother didn't like cartoons at the time, but really enjoyed watching goof Troop whenever I tuned in to it.
They mentioned the 1934 "Orphans Benefit" cartoon when Dippy Dawg was renamed Goofy, but they showed the 1941 remake instead....
I loved Goofy's educational cartoons! That ski one was (and still is!) a favorite! Same with the Christmas ones! One of my son's favorite movies of all was the Goofy movie with Goofy and Max...he watched it so much he wore out the first FOR tape and I had to buy a second one!

Also, thanks to "A Goofy Movie" I discovered a great side of Goofy: his parent side (I didn't like Goof Troop that much when I was a teen, and I watched the movie as an adult, with more knowledge of cartoon). I mean, I would totally love to have him as a father if he's that caring and protective....for my childhood. Maybe in my teen era I would be like Max.
Even if I knew about that side with the infamous George episodes, that wasn't Goofy at all. They were using the character for another new personality and meh episodes.

My dad would always mimic Goofy when he got me up for school as a child. And I loved the character a lot for just how...Hilarious he was. Goofy movie and the X-tremely Movie are my favorite to this day.

I think my favorite moments of Goofy include when in A Goofy Movie, Goofy accidentally swallow a rubber duck squeaker and makes a cute baby laugh during a photo shoot (don't try that at home though, Goofy is a professional, and a squeaker could cause choking), and in An Extremely Goofy Movie, when his girlfriend Sylvia was serving Goofy coffee, and Goofy takes the coffee pot instead of the mug. Those scenes were funny.
