I'm an experienced telemetry nurse and was just interviewed for a case manager position at a big hospital in LA. The hiring manager described the work as "stressful" and "not for the faint of heart". In your opinion, what could it mean? I thought that CM is relatively easier than bedside nursing.
As a case manager you are discussing life changes with patients and their families, often times neither the patient/family are prepared for to accept. Such as, transitioning to a skilled nursing facility, needing to be placed on home oxygen or hospice care. You are seen as the person who will address anything to get the patient discharged safely (even if you don’t have anything to do with the issue)…from locating a facility contracted with a patient’s no name insurance company based to getting an Uber ride.
How can I become a Nurse Case Manager in the future? Im currently working as a UM Nurse here in the Phils. Are there any certification I can get to be certified? Thanks Man.
Take your time and HEAL….cause hurt people HURT people. You are wise beyond your years to look at the physical demands of nursing and move around.
