I've got no prior experience with law, or contracts in any professional capacity. I'm not even in college for law. Yet, I found this incredibly informative and easy to understand. Fantastic.

Promissory estoppel is a legal principle that a promise is enforceable by law, even if made without formal consideration, when a promisor has made a promise to a promisee who then relies on that promise to his subsequent detriment.

ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT!!! Why this video is very, very well done: The ABSENCE of any (NOISY) music - thank goodness, no jingles, esp. the sudden noisy blast at the very beginning of some so-called lecture videos on RUclips...that can cause "sudden deafness" to the unsuspecting viewer/listener, who often is wearing headphones.... Furthermore, of course, the lecture itself is so very clearly explained, as if the explications were for the consumption of young schoolchildren. Every single item is very clearly explained and then later further elaborated so there's no room for any confusion or miscomprehension....

If you look at the ruling in Peevyhouse it seems like the courts treat contracts akin to agreements rather than promises. Otherwise you couldn’t justify ruling in regards to economic efficiency over specific performance

Very helpful. But ex-post is after an event happened, and ex-ante is before it did. Opposite to what you say.

Never admit to being the NAME in court, ever.
If it isn't a criminal charge, don't worry.
As soon as the judge has finished speaking "are you NAME", don't answer to the NAME, instead take over by asking Your Honor if you can question Mr Prosecutor then proceed to question Mr Prosecutor. If the judge tries to butt in say "with all due respect Your Honor I am going to finish my question to Mr Prosecutor".
Mr Prosecutor, are you acting as an agent of the Crown? Yes.
Mr Prosecutor, are you acting as the trustee of the Crown today? Yes.
Your honor, there is the trustee "points to Mr Prosecutor", he has his cheque book with him, make him pay.
If the judge asks you any question do not answer no matter how much intimidation they try upon you. 3 strikes and they're out. When they've walked out tell everyone "I am taking jurisdiction of the court, move for a motion to dismiss."
Then ask "when do I sign to get the discharge?".
    Silly fictional court.

Hey thanks for this video. I'm looking forward to the others too. I do have a question re ex post / ex ante. Just based on the Latin, it seemed to me that ex ante (antecedent) should be the prior position, and ex post the latter. Your tutorial says people make contracts ex post, before they have extra knowledge, and ex ante is when the contract comes to pass and they see the actual returns. I looked up the terms ex post / ex ante, and the contract definitions seem to be the reverse of what you say here. Was that a mix up? Can you comment? I'm a 1L, so I'm not being a know-it-all, just being cautious before I commit to something on an exam.

But if a contract is not binding you can not enforce it in court, binding is necessary and sufficient requirement to enforce the contract.

Great video. I have a question, a bit unrelated on the surface, but I believe it is very relevant. Who codifies the Public Law? I cannot find this answer anywhere in the written form, and have only been able to get an answer verbally from 2 different sources. Both gave the same answer. Also, you mention Quasi-Contracts; aren't most of the courts operating today called Quasi-Courts? That is what I have found. All administrative and not judicial in nature.
