I like my Rex45. I have a few blades in it and it's performed quite well for me. I strop it back with 16 micron CBN, then a few passes on a 6 or 4 micron. The 16 micron CBN works very well for high hardness steels.
Hey Taylor Im a big fan of rex45. Beyond the hype I think it’s a great steel with a corse or polished edge, depending on your task. When i asked about the stiffness of your pm2 cru i meant bending the whole knife. Holding both ends and pushing on the pivot. If I’m going to push my knife to the limit I don’t want it to flex. I have a Manly Peak that flexes terribly and on the other end is my Gayle Bradley. The first is a pure slicer and the other is a workhorse. Love both knives, I just pick the right tool for the job a hand
In the last 2 months or so i got myself a bunch of spyderco M4, trying out different knives to see which one i like most, but hopefully GPKnives uses Rex45 as their main exclusive steel like BladeHQ and M4 cuz I feel like most rex45/burnt orange sprint run models already came out so not much hope there
Which M4 models have you picked up? Any of the Gayle Bradley models are great; the advocate if you want a titanium framelock or the Bradley 2 if you want hollow ground. The Mantra 1 is also great, if you want a 3" blade. As far as the Rex45 Sprints, the native chief is about the best possible platform for that steel and can still be found pretty regularly on the secondary at normal retail price.
@@CNYKnifeNerd I got the uncoated arctic and jungle PM2, uncoated native chief and lil native in jade. Para 3 lw, Sage 5 lw, and soon the Native 5 lw (all Mint M4). Was looking into Rex45 Native 5 in G10 but we will see if I like the native 5.
@@allthingsknives I cant believe I didnt see your comment haha, well the Native 5 lw in M4 is cheapest native 5 second only to the uncoated s30v by the looks of it and it hasnt sold out yet, ordered one the other day cant wait to get my hands on it.
Dont go so obtuse angle when stropping. Gives you more time between actual sharpening i think. I usually do 30 degrees inclusive on rex and strop lightly very close to original angle accounting for strop surface deformation rounding the apex. The low vanadium content is ajoy to sharpen on japanese water stones and even green compound strops.

Forgot the most important component of steel, tungsten.

I like it even better than my M4

My names Fletcher, the pm2 doesn’t flex like that it still sturdy in my book
I just tried with my para 2 CW and it's stiff as a board.
Just ordered the pm2 with cruwear, would like to hear your thoughts on it if you put it through its passes as you did with rex, cheers
Yeah I’m carrying it right now as part of that carry first video isn’t out yet but it’s all good so far

Yeah I’m hoping for a native next or an Endura

I use denim on metal surface so my strop doesn’t really deform

Which do you prefer more cruwear or Rex 45? Thanks
Cruwear is my favorite, I have a video called Cruwear versus m4 should go into greater detail for you
@@allthingsknives oh no way! I must have missed it I'll check it out right now. Thanks!

That knife needs sharpened, you are struggling to cut paper.
He literally said that, as he was cutting the paper.
