Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

“I’ll do everything I can to live up to the name McGill.”
Ten minutes later: changes name.
@@djendick it’s all good man
At least in the last episode he changed it back

It's like the panel doesn't even realise that HE DEFECATED THROUGH A SUNROOF!!!!

"And he gets to be a lawyer...what a sick joke"
you have to stop him!
Like giving a chimp a machine gun...
Watching him make this heartfelt speech about “living up to the McGill name” and then him change his name not 5 minutes later was a gutpunch of an ending to the season
Kim always believed Jimmy was redeemable. That under all the conman persona he was a moral man who would do the right thing for the right reasons. This scene genuinely shocked her.
She was ultimately right about the redeemable part
"He uses honest emotions in dishonest ways"
Somewhere up above, Chuck is screaming "No! Dont do it! Dont let him be a lawyer! It'll be like giving a Chimp a machine gun!"
This is the moment that Jimmy gave his testimony
good observation
In an effort to be more “sincere”, Jimmy is like a thousand times more insincere here than he is in his original hearing lol
A love/hate letter to Jimmy.
Writing is so good and smart that we all believe that Jimmy is not serious...he utterly was, in fact he changes his name to severe his bond towards Chuck.
Minutes later:”oh did you see those tears in those suckers?”😂😂😂
Damn I really miss Better Call Saul
I remember I watched this episode after my friend’s engagement party
It was a really good day
this is the moment jimmy became heisenburg
The best con in the whole show. One of very few that also fools the audience
are you telling me that a man just HAPPENS to make such a beautiful testimony like that? NO!! HE ORCHESTRATED IT! JIMMY!
After this Jimmy opened up about his guilt over his brother's death, attended group therapy and got an honest job working next to Chuck's old office at HHM.
Howard still died tho
Sounds good to me!
Sadly, Howard could not escape his cocaine addiction.
This is the pivotal moment of the entire series. Absolutely incredibly done.
The moment when he finished reading that letter, I knew this was Jimmy's Masterful Testimony | Winner | Better Call Saul
I love how this whole show is basically just a masterclass in manipulation
He got me, I 100% fell for it
Are you telling me that a man just happens to cry like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy!
The best liars use the truth
Best show of all time.
I prefer the moment Jimmy took over Saul, in the finale, 'The Last Lawyer'
Bob Odenkirk playing Saul Goodman pretending to be repentant
Make a spin off for better fuel huel
Lmfao😂
Reasonably
And he gets his law license back? WHAT A SICK JOKE
Go Land Crabs!
What Jimmy did here was definitely heartless, crossing a moral Rubicon even for him. Nonetheless, as he told Miss Esposito, it's a response to the reality that he would always be in the shadow of lawyers like Chuck who did things the "right way." Jimmy tried to overcome his criminal background, but like that girl up for a scholarship, he was continually excluded from his brother's world. So, in an act of profound desecration, Jimmy resolved to use his brother's glory in order to manipulate the world of lawyers in order to seize victory, the winner taking it all.
2:01 I like how in the finale he says something similar “he was an incredible lawyer, the most brilliant guy I ever knew”. It goes to show that part of what Jimmy said here was true, he just wasn’t sincere enough with himself to admit that he missed chuck and regreted what happened between them
"he loved me like a brother-in-law..."
Crying Jimmy with his chicanery.
"Who talks like that?!?"
This will always be such an amazing scene. What a beautiful con. So believable.
He even coned himself with this and had to change his name😂😂😂
this is the exact moment mourning became Electra
Winner my beloved episode

Hearing this again... it's honestly not that great of a speech. But I think Jimmy knows that. He already gave an honest hearing and they rejected him for it. So I feel like Jimmy challenged himself to write the most emotional speech with the least amount of actual substance just to see if they were fool enough to eat it up. And they did. Great writing
Watched this episode yesterday
I always had a thought that the original letter that Kim got from Howard, she never showed it to Jimmy. I believe she re-wrote it because she didn’t want Chucks hate for Jimmy to linger on even in his death and she didn’t want to hurt Jimmy, so the only ones that knew what’s actually in that letter is Kim And Chuck, unless Howard opened the letter and read it to be nosy, which I doubt. And she has proven that she’s capable of doing something like that because if you remember in season two, she refused to tell Jimmy that it was Chuck all alone that didn’t want him to work at HHM and that it was Chuck that refused to hire him when he first became a lawyer back when he worked in the mail room. She kept all of that to herself to protect Jimmy’s feelings. That’s one man’s opinion on that.
Another detail which enriches the many layers of this show.
@@benfox1588 I get into a lot of debates when I make this statement I’m about to make but I actually like better. Call Saul better than I like. Breaking bad not even a little bit better. I like it a lot more than breaking. Bad not breaking bad is a bad show. It’s a great show. I just like better call Saul better.
I think Kim would value the importance of Jimmy having the real letter and also her reaction when Jimmy reads it is more emotional than I'd expect if she had written it
@@truemangibson her reaction and crying is a big reason why I believe that she changed the letter because she thought about what the actual letter said in the hate that Chuck had for him and she said when Chuck approached her about Jimmy switching the contract from 1261 to 1216 she actually almost cried at that meeting right there, thinking about how much Chuck hates Jimmy and how much Jimmy has sacrificed to help Chuck in his time of need and yet Chuck still was scheming and plotting secret.
@@presenceaboveall7882 interesting. I definitely think it's possible
he may never be be as good as chuck, but whatever he's achieved of himself is all good man
Life was a shimmy for Slippin’ Jimmy, growing up in Cicero. And Saul Goodman thought it’s all good, man, working in New Mexico
Saul up there lying the whole time 😂. Best lawyer ever

The likes of me abide" © song "The Winner Takes It All"
Reading somebody last will out in open like this is wrong. I forgot how we got to there in the show.
Wasn't his will. Was a letter to Jimmy. So.
I legitimately thought he was sincere
More spin than Warnie
LMAOOOO
In a way, he did live up to the name McGill. By changing his name and severing ties, the name McGill remained untarnished, as criminals everywhere only knew him as Saul Goodman.
It's Season 4 Episode 10, NOT Episode 1.
This is actually where Jimmy lost Kim for good. She realised that he can fool anyone including her.
The emergence of Saul Goodman then became inevitable once Kim was out of the picture.
Nah bro
How thick headed do you have to be to write this in 2024? Two years after the show ended?
Yeah, no. She stayed with him and enjoyed every minute of it for ages after this
Well Jimmy thanks ever so much for deciding not to go for heart string sentimentality... 🙄
up until the end there, i think jimmy really did mean what he said. jimmy is often at his most honest and vulnerable when he is manipulating people or crafting a lie.
