Welp... it is drifting cause he countersteered... so it's actually Drifting instead of dumb driving. Welp why didn't he leave nascar and go for touge rallies ?
looking back on this... this is a good reminder of the talent it actually takes to operate these machines. travis got thrusted into the top levels of stock car racing w no prior experience and it didn't go well for him.
What a good correction and prefect timing saved his team some work. Knowing he had a blast keeping it out of the wall is more entertaining than watching him wreck.:-);-)
Cj Buford NASCAR cars are a bitch to drive compared to your average car. Most say they are floaty in comparison. Have to say if he did learn hot to keep traction he'd be a contender. What he did here was take a spin turned it into a reverse entry drift and right where he locks the tires is where he gets set into more of a drifting technique and brought it out like your average drift. May have been reflex but still impressive. But you are right. Dude seriously needs to learn how to keep traction.
Patrick Rhoades You're right about the cars being hard to drive. But even when Pastrana wasn't wrecking himself, he was running in the teens (in amazing equipment). Some guys aren't cut out for NASCAR and thats fine, he's had a great career in other racing
Pastrana took FMX to new levels, no doubt. An FMX legend and rightly so. But a driving GOD? Gimme a break. He's mediocre at best. He's only switched to NASCAR (which my Nan good do) 'cause he sucked at rallying (yes, it's called rallying, not 'rally racing'). And he sucked at rallying in the U.S. - which is about the equivalent of Sunday afternoon Club Rallying the Europe. Compared to Björn Waldegård, Walter Röhrl, Ari Vatanen, Hannu Mikkola, Stig Blomqvist, Timo Salonen, Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Richard Burns, Marcus Grönholm and Colin McRea (to name just a few) he's not even in the same league.
I know he did those tests at less speed than normal in a race and he was just with a lot of room to maneuver but this can be useful to many riders when they lose grip in a race to try to avoid going against the wall
Travis: *coming loose on the turn* Meanwhile, in Pit Road: Crew chief: "QUICK, PLAY EUROBEAT INTO THE HEADSET" Travis saves himself with that epic drift Crew chief: "Nice."
Trevor's a Daytona 500 champ. Of the 4 plate races, the 500 historically isn't the one where upsets occur (in fact, only Bayne, Dale Jarrett in 1993, and Ward Burton since 1990 can really be considered "upsets" in that time). So the fact that Trevor won on the sport's biggest stage says he can handle the pressure, and I honestly think that he can win given a better opportunity than RFR (which, let's face it, has been shit since Fenway Sports Group came aboard)
He was going for that reverse entry!
That's what I thought. He was even hitting the hand brake like you would while drifting to keep from spinning out.
Braap Braap Says The Dirtbike he tried to wall tap
this is,what us drift fans call,BACKWARDS ENTRY!
i call it reverse entry
I call it HELL YEAH BROTHER!!!!!!
Stupid its REVERSE entry
I agree

KANSAI DORIFTO!?
Travis Katsama
it's lit
He wasn't scared at all. He is one of the best drivers alive. That's all of that rally driving skill
Its called drifting, look it up lol
Isn't drifting... Controlled? I know that you came here from the drifting page on Facebook.
It is yes, but the way he has done was a reversed entry but he controlled the car so it wouldn't hit the wall
OfficialNFSclan
that's exactly what he's doing keeping the drift (and the car) under control
***** Sometimes you have to lock the rear wheels to continue the controlled skid. He is simply controlling the car. Knew when to get back on throttle.
TWIRKNOLOVE which is essentially drifting
Give him a AE86!
The Bunta Fujiwara of NASCAR...
🤣🤣🤣
Well they didn't give him the 86, BUT they did give him a new WRX STI
@@Wheelebarral or Takumi
Its hard to drift in nascar because the car always wants to go left
they set it up in a wind tunnel for it to turn left
Or the 150-200 mph part in a car aerodynamically meant to go straight
1:09 we call that drifting!
***** so you are telling me that a pro driver like Travis Pastrana did this by mistake? Funny.
Roentgen⁶⁴ Do you think he ''drifted'' on purpouse? That's bullshit my friend.
Roentgen⁶⁴ if you think he meant to do this you have no idea what you are even watching.
@@Roentgenstrahler even though he DEFINITELY didn't do this on purpose, it's still drifting, but man, you're confusing
I don't think these Americans have ever seen a drift before.

Just shows u the skills of a rally driver

mark babb losing the car shows the skills of a rally driver? lol Pastrana had incredible equipment in NASCAR and was absolutely awful

And the search is a mystery
that reverse entery
so many people have no idea what real drifting is.
this is a powerslide, NOT a drift.
More like a save.
Actually it's a reverse entry drift. Very short one but the way he initiated is textbook.
Patrick Rhoades
no, its not, its a powerslide/mostly a save.
none of it was intentional.
+Hachi Roku what about a drift says it has to be intentional? pretty sure a drift is any sustained slide with a high degree of angle/oversteer.
Patrick Rhoades
because to drift you first have to initiate, otherwise its simply a powerslide.
One of the reasons I respect Travis Pastrana. The man has skill.
Nice to see some saves posted. Cheers.
Reverse exit!
If it has wheels, Travis can drive it! And drive it incredibly well! To its absolute limit and beyond! Travis Pastrana IS a Driving God!

Looks like he is practicing his backwards entries.
He is one of the drifting legend now 🤣
My hometown hero I used to watch him race in the 80cc class at Budds creek and aquasco 17-18 years ago
He hit that reverse entry
Keiichi Tsuchiya and Daigo Saito would be proud. And Vaughn Gittin Jr is jealous :D
Oh, and btw - not swatting fly but fishtailing ;)
It s called drift!!
give him an RX7!!!
He is in a championship winning team for the past 2 years in Nationwide series, Roush Fenway Racing
This would have been on slaptrain's top 10 drifts of the week
Looked pretty spectacular!
He saved it because, unlike alot of nascar drivers, he can actually *DRIVE*
can see him doing the octopus dance inside lol
He may not be the fastest out there, but he sure can drive that thing!
That angle doe
