    You swim like Phelps, he uses wide entry as well, and his shoulder is incredibly flexible, like yours. Wide entry allows the undulation to be more consistent because your hip will not drop that much. It's a great insight! Thumbs up for the video!

    It's incredible how such a small change can increase your whole capacity. Last week we had to do 15m short sprints and I noticed, that the wide armtechnique improved my complete movement. My trainer even praised me for that 😊

    You know, I definitely feel more powerful and I last longer when im using a wider recovery/catch. You mentioning the head timing is interesting and totally makes sense, but I've always attributed it to having more power pulling from a wider position inward towards the core - but you're right, it take a lot of time and energy to bring the arms that little bit further. Not unlike freestylers who cross-over as beginners and pull outward; we always have more power wider and pulling in. Also, with fly, I feel like I can get my elbows higher in the pull with a wider catch. Thanks for the video!!

    I agreed with you 100%. I noticed if you have more muscle build up near your shoulders, and its more freely to move your arms with less tension if you had a wider entry. Basically a superman flying style would do the job, just keep the arm in a straight in line with your shoulder width.

  • @gybx4094

    Wider entry also reduces the chances of getting shoulder impingement.

    I learnt butterfly in late age and the several teachers I had told me that my catch was too wide and they forced to tighten it.
    Although I closed it I felt that with the slightly wider stroke the miracle that occurs in this video happened. So better speed and momentum and less fatigue in the end.
    So, my body identified the slightly wider catch as better and I recommend it. Test it. Works.

    Do you have a simple program to follow ?
    Swim 3 times / week slow pace maximum distance for example?
    Do you think i should spend long distance/Time on Vasa traîner ?
    Like dry land training ?

    이 작은 변화들은 사람의 맨눈으로는 거의 알아챌 수 없습니다. 그런 점에서 기술력이 도움됩니다. 우리는 물속 고속 촬영 영상과 전문 지식을 활용하여, 수영인들이 자신의 기술을 개선하여 적은 노력으로 더 빨라지도록 도울 수 있었습니다. 이것이 우리 수영 캠프에 참여할 15 명의 수영인들과 함께 할 내용입니다.
    우리는 다수의 물속 영상, 운동 그리고 부분 훈련들을 통해 당신이 빠르게 향상하게끔 도울 것입니다. 우리 수영 캠프에 관심 있다면 아래 링크를 방문해주십시오.

    Hi my 12 yo son flies along well like melted butter on toast for the first 25-30 metres but then seems to lose that speed for 2nd half. He stretches nearly everyday. I don’t know what else to do as we don’t think is an endurance issue as such considering the other strokes he doesn’t lose his speed. Please help!

    • @swimbearuk
      @swimbearuk 3 года назад

      That's quite common in butterfly. It can be difficult for some swimmers to breathe properly (at least not as easily as in freestyle), which impacts endurance. Fly also requires the tempo and all aspects of the stroke to be maintained. As soon as this fails, it becomes difficult to keep the stroke efficient. I don't know if you found a fix for it, but generally fly swimmers just have to train Fly a lot. Eventually, they learn to make the stroke efficient over longer distances, but I don't think it ever becomes easy.

    I have a problem in butterfly and that is my tempo when my hands enter i pause alot then pull the water (what i mean by pause is that i do some sort of small sculling and pull) and i know it is a slow tempo but what should i do to fix it?

    • @kieranlabresh9376
      @kieranlabresh9376 5 лет назад +2

      So basically when you have a narrow entry on your fly it takes about a half second to get In the actual pulling position and when you don't swim butterfly very much and have a narrow entry you create a natural scull because your to narrow and not swimming butterfly enough so to fix it you have to enter in wider and faster not giving your arms a chance to scull. I don't know if that makes any sense but I was having the same issue about a year ago. One more thing you have to dolphin kick faster for your arms if I were you I would start trying to fix it by focusing on your arms and they're entire by doing sets of 25 fly pull

    • @rezabakhshi
      @rezabakhshi 5 лет назад

      @@kieranlabresh9376 yes thank you my entry is narrow and i feel every time that my tempo is slow when i swim fly sprint and my kick as you said was no much fast so is there any drill for fixing it rather than having wide entry?

      I think if you keep your arms very close to the water surface (when you the kick lifts your torso) the entry of your hands at shoulders width, will become easier and more natural than the narrow entry
