Thank god I was able to ride the old D78 Stock in it’s temporary new life on this line before it got replaced as I grew up with those trains since childhood

With a lot of 1980s rolling stock being phased out im surpirsed at how many sprinters are still running both class 150s and 156s. Goes to show just how reliable these units are. On GWR they are coping way better than the Networker tubos that replaced the pacers on the Avocet line.

this is my local line, at one of the train stops they are considering about closing a level crossing for EWR, which will suck, since i cycle to school that way. I do hope they don't close it. Also, the LNWR class 350s have declasified first class, so you can be a little bit more comfortable when you ride the trains. I am glad this nice little line is getting more traction. I got some fun facts, Woburn sands station used to have a plastic works right outside of the station, which is now replaced by housing. Fenny stratford is the leased used station in all of buckinghamshire, battling out with the princes Risborough shuttle. however, aspley guise and i think kempston hardwick used to be the least used, aspley guise is especially weird since it does have a quite small settlement, but, woburn sands is right near by. I do quite like the 150s, especially in that gorgeious new MV livery, seing it in person was crazy for the first time

Ah nice - you came to Bedford, my hometown. I can’t blame you for leaving as soon as possible after arriving!
EWR will be an important part of the regional infrastructure for the Oxford-Cambridge arc. Its closure back in the 60s has probably ended up costing us more money in lost economic growth and rebuilding costs. It’s also a shame the route is not being electrified from construction, but it’s better than nothing.
Thanks for the well researched video

Somebody did this route on a weekend, for £1, when the rail replacement bus was not running. The ticket was valid from Bletchley to Watford Junction, thence to St Albans Abbey, a walk to St Albans City, and then via Thameslink to Bedford !! A valid route 😂

the route was £1 for the best part of a year to entice people back onto the route. It has stopped being £1 about 2 months ago, so its now about a fiver for a return ticket. Which is still comparible with a bus. This is course is the EW rail route so it will be interesting to see what happens in the future.

Not £1 anymore unfortunately. £4.90 return from Woburn Sands to Bletch. Booo.
