    I am loving my FX 30 - I do think that the over-sampling of the 6K image helps in pushing way above its' price in image quality (color depth/gradeability/sharpness) and even noise (very useable up to ISO 6400 I have found). Never going to afford an Alexa - so for me your 'B cam' is my 'A cam'!

    I am blown away - I noticed a few differences between certain shots but overall they looked extremely close. Thanks for the great content!

    Best test footage i have ever seen. Something that someone might actually shoot and well written helps a lot. Much appreciated

    I instantly love that the Title of the Video is thwarted in the first 21 seconds of the video lmao this was a fantastic overview, I had to subscribe.

    Thank you! It was very interesting! I thought all the first shots was done with the Alexa, I got wrong.
    Thank you man!

    Very very interesting test, Obviously the FX30 wont replace the Alexa Mini but I feel that the capabilities of that camera can reach that Arri Level, at least that's what you guys showed us.

    I think under natural lighting conditions after white balancing and color space transform the FX30 looks quite nice. In trickier situations it is really lacking in terms of skin tone and overall color accuracy. Getting the right WB is really key on these mirrorless cameras I find. With an Alexa its kind of crazy, you can can almost set the WB to whatever or have mixed lighting and the skin tones still look great.

    Very under rated the FX30 is. With skill there is really no limit with this little beast

    I loved this test, although it would have been cool to cut to an Alexa in the tracking shots as I would have been interested to see how that comparison looked. Perhaps you didn’t have a steady cam to throw the Arri on?

      As we mentioned in the video, we had the Alexa image as a reference point so it was all basic adjustments ( tint, contrast, sat. ). With that said, we of course did a CST from SLog3 to Arri Log-C as our first step.

    Thank you. Have you ever seen how professionals run around the site with a smartphone, with the viewfinder application installed, and check the perspective? Or is it not accepted?

      Smartphone works just fine with Artemis. this gives you the added benefit of using the lenses actual t stop to show you what the actual DOF will look like which I'm always a fan of.

    I would love to see this comparison between the Alexa and the C300 mark iii.
    As a C3003 owner operator and a DP who has worked with the Alexa quite a bit, I find that they cut together super easily. Would love other professional perspectives on it

    • @NorthwestCameraCo
      @NorthwestCameraCo  9 месяцев назад

      The c300iii/c70 is honestly a much better cut and requires less work to get them together. C70 has been my main gimbal cam when shooting Alexa mini over the last couple years.

    • @SamLucas26
      @SamLucas26 9 месяцев назад

      Yeah, that’s definitely been my experience.
      I think the DGO dynamic range and Canon color can match Arri (particularly that signature green) much better than Arri matching Sony color.
      But I really dislike that flat desaturated green that Sony seems to produce too, so I’m not exactly “unbiased” lol

    Im really impressed about this camera I just wonder how much closer an xh2s would get image wise.

    • @ForestCinema
      @ForestCinema 10 месяцев назад

      XH2S has simultaneous dual gain sensor tech, so… closer. DR is a big defining factor of the Arri digital image, if you can get close there, it’s all about how you take the LOG and remap it to get close. Obviously ARRI also has a lot of color info, but these days 8-bit is pretty much a thing of the past

    What did you do to the Alexa footage? I’ve never seen it so degraded before. It’s looked awful. Both images looked absolutely terrible.

  • @johnlocke3481
    @johnlocke3481 6 месяцев назад +1

    okay, so the fx30 looks better to me... Especially in the @5:15 back and forth. Maybe it's because the more attractive girl is shot with the fx30, but that also just shows that at this point, if you have $70k, you should buy a $2k camera and spend $68k on actors, plane tickets, etc.

    • @NorthwestCameraCo
      @NorthwestCameraCo  6 месяцев назад

      Anymore it’s not about the image at all. It’s basically splitting hairs. You’re paying for capability in other ways like I/O and other important internal stuff like lut management, metadata, external module controls etc.

    • @NorthwestCameraCo
      @NorthwestCameraCo  7 месяцев назад

      You’re right. It’s not even close. We said that as soon as we start the video. Not all s35 sensors are created equal. That being said it’s a relevant b cam if in a pinch. But Alexa still runs the show.

    You either didn't use Alexa at all or intentionally ruined Alexa's footage. The FX 9 and FX 6 can't be compared to the BMPCC 4K, let alone RED or Alexa. This is false and misleading information.

    • @Jacobyfilms
      @Jacobyfilms 9 месяцев назад

      The FX9 and 6 can definitely be compared.

      All of the cameras mentioned can capture professional video. Hell, the Sony FX3 was the primary camera on The Creator, an IMAX sci-fi film in theaters right now. The gap between professional and "prosumer" has narrowed significantly in the past few years.
