It's not so much the falling that's worrisome. It's the sustained loss of forest cover in their jungles in north-east India. As trees are cut down and forest canopies become less dense, less close together, gibbons are forced to come to the ground to move from place to place. This makes them incredibly vulnerable to feral dogs, humans and other predators.

I think that in the Disney movie Tarzan, when Tarzan was swinging on the lianas and walking along the edges of the trees, for me they were based on the movements of the gibbons, because gorillas and others do not have that fluid agility of gibbons apart they have a favor their body weight that is not so much and therefore they can do many maneuvers swinging on thin branches, I could spend hours admiring their agility and freedom

I wonder if I can do this but of course slower. I'd love to give it a try. I don't think the trees where I live are very suitable for going tree to tree though. It's mostly coniferous trees like spruce. It's quite easy to climb a single tree so long as there is at least one branch low enough to the ground to grab. Often times in the middle of the forest though, it's quite a ways up before any of that, and it is too wide to wrap my arms around and shuffle up. I feel like climbing some trees now. I might just keep an eye out for any close together clusters of trees so that I could try going tree to tree.
